Juni in Stötteritz stattfindet. Bitte Mail an g.schaefer@lvz.de

Literatur:Joseph Ponthus: Am laufenden Band. Aufzeichnungen aus der Fabrik. Send a textAbusive sidelines don't fix bad calls—and they're driving referees out of the game. We sat down with U.S. Soccer's Vice President of Referees, Kari Seitz, to break down how “Respect the Call” and Policy 531-9 are changing that story with clear standards, real accountability, and education designed for today's crews. We start with the foundation: knowing the difference between a raw emotional reaction and dissent. That clarity matters because early, consistent action keeps matches from spiraling. Kari explains the new video series that teaches practical skills most officials never learn in class—how to read tone and proximity, how to set boundaries, and even how to show a card with presence so your message lands the first time. You'll hear why empowering young and new referees to act decisively is the single best way to prevent escalation and protect the flow of the game. From there, we zoom out to the system. Kari walks us through centralized reporting for abuse, fair and age-appropriate sanctions, and league adoption that extends to parents on the touchline. We also explore the U.S. Refereeing Way, a national push to unify instruction and mechanics so referees in California and Georgia get the same guidance on AR positioning, dissent management, and match control. Think modern training modules, shareable vertical videos, and a future “referee passport” to track experience, education, and progression—less guesswork, more support. If you've ever wondered how to stop the churn of officials, this conversation shows the roadmap: consistent definitions, confident enforcement, and a culture that treats referees as essential to soccer. Watch the new Respect the Call videos, share them with your club, and put the standards into practice. We need your help!Support the show

This week on Truth to Power, we bring you a community conversation about “Fighting Injustice: A Lifelong Struggle To Do The Right Things” with civil rights lawyer and activist Eric Seitz. This virtual conversation was organized by the Oberlin Club of Washington, DC and it took place on December 3, 2025. After graduation, how do we apply the values and idealism developed during our student years to change the world and have a meaningful career and life? What can we learn from the inspiring examples set by alumni at a time when democracy, human rights and human dignity are under assault by the government? Eric Seitz (class of 1965), a civil rights attorney now based in Honolulu, is the quintessential Oberlin activist whose career has been guided by a commitment to the pursuit of fairness and justice. Across his career, he has challenged the establishment and represented all categories of political activists, including members of the Black Panther Party, the Chicago Seven, and Leonard Peltier the Native American political activist who was at the center of a nearly 50-year-long controversy surrounding the killings of two FBI agents at South Dakota's Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1993. While studying law at UC Berkeley, Eric counseled and assisted draft resisters and taught courses to lawyers and law students on the draft and military law. At Oberlin, Eric majored in Government and recalled how he was a firebrand advocate during his time as an student, even prompting college President Carr to send a note suggesting he might be happier at another school. Watch a full recording at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kb32I4JgCI On Truth to Power each week, we gather people from around the community to discuss the state of the world, the nation, the state, and the city! A State of Emergency: Violence Against Black Trans Women, A Cry for Justice 4 Black Trans Women Killed – A State of Emergency from across the country of black transgender women murdered by gun violence. All but one of these cases is solved. All of the women deserve the same justice.   A College Football Player's Deadly Secret: The Ty Underwood Case On January 26, 2015, residents of a quiet Tyler, Texas neighborhood were startled awake when a car came to a sudden stop, followed by the sound of gunfire. When police arrived, they found the body of 24-year-old Ty Underwood shot to death behind the wheel of her car. Following a trail of clues, police soon arrested 21-year-old Texas College student and football player Carlton Ray Champion Jr. The trial that followed would expose a relationship a killer was desperate to hide.     The Mysterious Death of Timothy Lee On the evening of November 2, 1985, 23-year-old fashion design student Timothy Charles Lee fell asleep on the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train while traveling home after work in San Francisco. Eleven hours later, he was found hanging from a tree in a vacant lot near the Concord BART station.   The Murder of Mr. Tidd On a warm Miami, Florida evening in 1959, 32, Chelcie Tidd met a handsome stranger and invited him home. At the end of the evening, Tidd's body would be found floating in his pool, and the 23, James Seitz would be on the run. In custody, Seitz would recite line and verse a tale of an unwanted advance and his violent homosexual panic response. A closer look at his past would challenge the idea of panic.   Sex, Identity, and The Fight for Basic Rights Two landmark cases that overturned the targeted attempts on the part of states across the United States to criminalize being queer. In 1982 and 1998, both Michael Hardwick, John Geddes Lawrence Jr., and Tyron Garner were arrested for having sex in the privacy of their own homes. It would take decades to overturn the redefinition of sodomy that sought to criminalize the act of same-sex sex.
