With MMRBQ 2025 fast approaching, WMMR’s Brent Porche caught up with Dorothy Martin, leader of the band Dorothy, who will join us at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on Saturday May 10th. Dorothy’s a longtime friend of WMMR, and now she’s got a new album for us: The Way, her fourth LP out now via Roc Nation. The album delivers 10 powerful tracks, including the singles "MUD" and "Tombstone Town", the latter featuring none other than Slash. Brent and Dorothy also discussed the upcoming 10th anniversary of her debut album Rockisdead, concert memories, and how her latest release is a "love letter to her fans". With a new album out, a big show in Philly, and a milestone anniversary ahead, Dorothy is set for an exciting year. If you haven't listened to The Way yet, now's the perfect time. And if you want to see her live, MMRBQ 2025 is the place to be. See more at wmmr.com/Brent

MMRBQ 2024 was nothing short of electrifying, and it all began when Jersey Calling hit the main stage of Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, NJ. Shortly after their set, this year's featured Local Shots band joined Brent Porche live at the broadcast booth to revel in their ‘RBQ moment. See more at wmmr.com/brent
Moments after their first performance together in over a decade, Philly's own Silvertide gathered at the broadcast booth at MMRBQ 2024, basking in the glow of what had just transpired. Nick Perri, Walt Lafty, Brian Weaver, Mark Melchiorre, and Kevin Frank shared their excitement on air with Brent Porche, and traced the moments that led them to the MMRBQ stage. After a long hiatus, when they began tossing around the idea of a reunion, the important stipulation was that it had to be fun. That philosophy, along with sharpening the songs that Philly knows and loves, resonated from the pit to the lawn at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. Seeing the band back in action made it feel like we'd turned the clock back to their early 2000s heyday, but with all the experience and soul that comes with many years spent in the industry. What made this reunion even more special was how the band member's kids were part of the experience for the first time, pointing out that their children barely know that this music was huge a huge part of our lives 20 years ago. It's a full-circle moment for Silvertide, who not only celebrated their epic past and their debut album Show & Tell, but are also brewing up new projects, including a holiday show at the TLA and potentially new music on the horizon. Before taking the stage at the Fillmore Philadelphia on Friday night, the Struts crashed Pierre Robert's Workforce blocks - live on the air! - with a special birthday surprise. Luke Spiller, Adam Slack, Jed Elliott, and Gethin Davies spent some time at the WMMR studios to update Pierre on their current tour, their brand new single, and how interesting it's been to hear their songs in soundtracks and commercials. They also reminisce about the last time they were in Philly, which involved an ice luge and a few shots of tequila… The band, who hail from the UK, also discussed their relationship with their American fans, and all of their WMMR experiences over the years: MMRBQ, Pierre Presents, a live performance on Preston and Steve, and more. See the moment that the Struts stunned Pierre on Instagram, and get the concert gallery and setlist on WMMR.com.
Has it been 4 years already? Guess so as the boys address the Olympics and the many blue and hairy elephants in the room. Then they bring it back to Philly with a talk about local bar bands, the WMMR BBQ (the MMRBQ) and everything that goes along with it. jmtstore.com
MMRBQ 2024 is on sale NOW! Pierre Robert and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm had a chat live on the air today about the band's return to the MMRBQ stage this September. They talk about Halestorm's earliest connections with WMMR and Philadelphia, as well as their friendships with some of the other artists on the lineup. Lzzy tells a very cool story of how she once gifted a guitar to Dany from the Warning, as a way to 'pay it forward' since one of her musical heroes did the same thing many years ago. Plus, it's International Women's Day (March 8th) so the two give lots of love to the female voices of rock n' roll. See more and get MMRBQ tickets at WMMR.com/Pierre

We at The Preston & Steve Show got to talk to one of the bands set to be at the always-glorious MMRBQ and Preston's favorite modern band in the world: Larkin Poe! Rebecca and Megan Lovell's live performance in the studio this past fall still sticks with us, mainly because that is when they debuted their song “Strike Gold.” Our assistant producer Connor recently saw them live, and he loved the show. Rebecca and Megan had a lot of fun at it as well. They cannot wait to come back to Philadelphia, especially in September for the MMRBQ. Having come up in the bluegrass scene, the sisters love playing festivals. There is a lot of collaboration and jamming at bluegrass festivals, which is a sight you don't often see with rock ones. However, we and the sisters hope that can change with the MMRBQ. Seeing Rebecca sing with Billy Idol would be quite a sight, but we want to see her harmonize the Safelite jingle with Steve and Casey while Preston plays drums. We did get to talk with the sisters about their most recent album, Blood Harmony. Preston found that the album has a much larger sound compared to the previous ones, and according to Rebecca, that's ironically from stripping down the music. By being on the road, Larkin Poe has gotten comfortable as a four-piece band, which translated into the studio with them avoiding the layering of guitars and vocals on Blood Harmony. It turns out, the sisters have a very close relationship with Elvis Costello. They met at a musical event, and he has since become a great mentor to them. He was the one who taught them not to simplify themselves or confine their music to a box. He believes that artists should curate the art they are passionate about, and, in turn, fans will respond with love. Megan and Rebecca recently made their television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Preston was very happy about one of their song choices. They played “Bad Spell,” a song he describes as “stanky.” That is intended as a compliment! The sisters are also close to WMMR's resident vampire Jacky Bam Bam. He has their personal cell numbers, and they can confirm what we have always known about him. They called him “one of the most precious of all the rock ‘n roll angels.” Thanks to Rebecca and Megan for having a chat with us. We look forward to seeing them rock the stage at MMRBQ in September!
Billy Idol will be part of the MMRBQ 2023 on September 16th at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. The lineup includes Shinedown, Larkin Poe, Ayron Jones, Dirty Honey, Finger Eleven, Tigercub and Vixen77. He had a great conversation with Jacky Bam Bam talking performing, clubbing in Philly and the members of his band. Idol was drinking with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Stones at a party at Ronnie Woods brownstone in New York. They were drinking Rebel Yell Whiskey. He also discusses how an Elvis Presley song and movie changed his life, Lisa Marie and Graceland. Both his granddaughters like music, and Idol has some a few stories about them. Idol is working on making an album and will probably will nix the 3rd EP idea. He is not sure when it will be out, but it will be on Dark Horse Records. He talks about why he does most of his charity work for Cancer Research because of his dad. We can't wait to see him at the BBQ!

The Glorious Sons love playing in Philly (in their words, we have "a way of yelling at each other - it’s charming!") and we were thrilled to welcome them to MMRBQ 2019. Brothers Brett and Jay Emmons hung out with Jacky Bam Bam at the broadcast booth and talked about performing at the NHL Stadium Series earlier this year, regrettable tattoos, the meaning behind the song “S.O.S”, touring with our friends in the Struts, musical influences, and opening for the World’s Greatest Rock N’ Roll band!
The Struts' charm and exuberance was on full display at the MMRBQ, both on stage during their outstanding performance and backstage in conversation with Pierre Robert. Luke, Adam, Jed and Gethin talked about their outlandish style, honing their craft on tour, their favorite tracks on the band's latest LP Young & Dangerous and more!

1, 2, RBQ... That's the chant that rang throughout Camdedelphia when Fozzy took the stage at MMRBQ 2019! They delivered one of the most entertaining sets of the day, helmed by frontman Chris Jericho. Jericho caught up with Jaxon and Sara backstage, where they covered the history of Fozzy, how they craft their live show and stay in shape on the road, why rock is far from "dead", the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (and who should be inducted next), and Jericho tells us who he's most excited to share the stage with at this year's MMRBQ!
Evanescence were part of our first ever MMRBQ in 2007, and this year the band was back on the 'RBQ stage and more powerful than ever! The fierce and fabulous Amy Lee joined Brent and Sara backstage before the band's set. They talked about Evanescence's "incredibly beautiful" connection with their fans, early influences, dreaming up new music, and what's next for the band... We could have talked to her for ages, but Joan Jett had just taken the stage and we all wanted to catch her perform (especially Amy, who's a huge fan)!
The Blackhearts leader and her longtime business partner, Kenny Laguna, having a deep appreciate for MMR... we were out there on the streets helping them sell records out of the car after the shows! So you can imagine how excited they are to join us for the MMRBQ this Saturday and celebrate the stations 51st year.
This week: Bill Furman and Jim "Chet" Chesko lament the Sixers' heartbreaking, Game 7 loss to Toronto and also talk about the decision to retain Brett Brown as head coach ... and the first-place Phillies. Pierre Robert spoke with Joan Jett and her longtime manager Kenny Laguna, who remembers 93.3 WMMR as one of the "Blackheart Stations" that took a chance on her music when she first came onto the scene in the early 80s. The three of them discuss musical legacy, collaborations, the experience of performing with the surviving members of Nirvana at the Rock Hall, writing and recording with Dave Grohl... and of course, the upcoming MMRBQ! Just found this on my old Droid Bionic. I think it's from the 2012 MMRBQ? This is the entire uninterrupted drum solo that segues into their closing song Whatever. Sound is lacking a bit as I shot this from my cell phone, but overall a nice keepsake if you were at their last show of that tour.
