Interview Date: June 7th, 2026Episode Summary:This episode dives into Sienna Morris's journey from a dedicated young dancer to a working professional in Los Angeles, highlighting the mindset, preparation, and initiative required to succeed in today's dance industry. From choosing dance over gymnastics at an early age to navigating a short-lived opportunity in Monaco, Sienna demonstrates the importance of trusting your instincts and making bold decisions that align with your long-term goals. Her transition into the LA scene, including joining Ballet Red, marked a pivotal shift into the professional world and set the foundation for her evolving career.Throughout the conversation, Sienna emphasizes the power of self-advocacy, networking, and consistency. She shares how introducing herself in rooms, building genuine relationships, and staying visible have directly led to opportunities. A standout mindset she lives by is her “24-hour rule” for handling rejection—allowing herself time to process before moving forward with clarity and focus. She also speaks on the importance of versatility, expanding into acting and performance, and developing multiple skill sets to remain competitive in a fast-paced industry. The episode also explores preparation and personal branding. Sienna discusses how having strong materials—reels, a professional website, and a clear online presence—helped her enter the LA market with confidence. She reflects on mentorship through Business of Dance, landing brand deals, and learning to confidently negotiate her worth. Ultimately, her story reinforces that success in dance goes beyond talent—it requires ownership, resilience, and strong relationships. Her message is clear: the dancers who take initiative and build connections are the ones who create lasting careers.Shownotes:0:01 – Introduction and Sienna Morris full-circle journey2:57 – Mentorship experience and early career reflections 4:05 – Early training and choosing dance path 6:37 – Monaco opportunity and trusting your instincts 9:42 – Moving to LA and Ballet Red experience 10:22 – Networking, visibility, and self-advocacy 14:12 – Handling rejection with “24-hour rule” 17:45 – Building versatility across dance and acting 18:48 – College path versus going professional early 23:00 – Preparing materials before entering LA market26:44 – Business of Dance impact on branding 30:00 – First brand deal and negotiating value32:20 – Social media strategy and consistency 41:34 – Agents vs self-submissions and ownership49:55 – Relationships matter: contacts equal contractsBiography:Sienna Morris is an LA-based dancer, actor, model, choreographer, and educator whose work blends contemporary ballet with the versatility of today's entertainment industry. Recurring guest and long-time friend of Bleeding Metal, Lindsay Schoolcraft joins Kiki in an episode that touches on everything from all the reasons why Artificial Intelligence should stay away from art, how the patriarchy harms everybody including men, and how different conditionings cultural backgrounds interfere in our abilities to learn vocal techniques.Lindsay breaks down the stories behind her upcoming album “Harrowing”, the symbolism in its cover art, and how her songwriting keeps evolving but will always keep some of that old-school Evanescence-style. We also go on a little tangent of how joining the lawsuit against her former band CRADLE OF FILTH was actually liberating and supportive of her Mental Health.00:00 LINDSAY SCHOOLCRAFT Comes Back After Two Years04:49 Mental Health and Self-Care Practices06:41 Standing Up for Justice in the Music Industry09:49 The Impact of AI on Music and Creativity19:00 Hope for Societal Change driven by Women23:07 Lindsay's Stories on her New Album "Harrowing"27:16 The Journey of Learning Harsh Vocals33:29 The Album Artwork for Lindsay Schoolcraft's "Harrowing"38:00 Influences and Inspirations in Music40:57 Lindsay Schoolcraft's Two Albums in Two Years coming upFind out more:Pre-order “Harrowing”Follow Lindsay Schoolcraft on InstagramLindsay's previous Bleeding Metal episode from Nov. 28, 2023Cody Johnstone's Bleeding Metal episode from Nov 27, 2025Lindsay's friend and ‘So Alive'-guest vocalist Krista Shipperbottom on InstagramRecorded on May 20th, 2026 (with a few internet glitches, sorry!).Bleeding Metal is hosted, produced, and edited by Kiki with Riverside.Subscribe now to the Bleeding Metal Podcast wherever you listen and watch the video episodes on YouTube. After a five year wait, chart-topping, Grammy-winning alternative rockers Evanescence return with Sanctuary, their sixth studio album. Following the blistering single Who Will You Follow, the new LP features some of the band's best work to date. Singer, songwriter, and founding member Amy Lee talks about Who Will You Follow's blockbuster music video, working with producer Jordan Fish and their shared Bring Me The Horizon history, the album's title track, and the band's gargantuan 2026 world tour.
Welcome back to Feel-Good Fridays. This week, host Aislyn Greene and producer Nikki Galteland are bringing you a special road trip edition — recorded live from the car somewhere in the forests of Michigan, microphones balanced on laps and sunscreen close at hand. It's a two-story episode today, and both come straight from the headlines of everyday life: Sunscreen use is up worldwide — and it's not just public health messaging that's doing it. Better formulas, the global influence of Korean and Japanese skincare, and a generational shift in sun-safety habits all play a role. Nikki and Aislyn dig into the data, swap their favorite SPF picks, and make the case for hand cream on road trips. The millennial song debate: NPR music journalists went looking for the one track that defines a generation, and landed on...well, we can't reveal that. But Aislyn and Nikki compare notes (Evanescence, No Doubt, Usher, J.Lo all make appearances), and share a playlist to soundtrack your own summer drive. Tell us your pick. New Jersey hard rock band BLACK ROSE REBELLION who are releasing their new album, Hail The Rebel Queen, on May 29th via Pavement EntertainmentCurrent Singles: Hail The Rebel Queen (Releasing May 29th) For Fans Of: Halestorm, In This Moment, Shinedown, Evanescence, The Pretty Reckless Black Rose Rebellion is a modern hard rock band forged from strength, power, and rebirth. The Black Rose itself symbolizes major change, hope, and optimism—core themes reflected in both the band's music and the personal journeys of its members. The rebellion was born in June 2022, when frontwoman Trybe and lead guitarist/co-writer Dave “The RockDoc” Rosenfeld—complete strangers at the time—were each on the verge of walking away from music altogether. Introduced by a mutual friend despite coming from entirely different worlds, their connection sparked an immediate creative rebirth and laid the foundation for Black Rose Rebellion. Hailing from both the northern and southern halves of New Jersey, USA, the band has developed a powerful, genre-blending sound influenced by decades of rock and metal, while maintaining a bold, modern edge. Beyond the music, Black Rose Rebellion represents a brand built on individuality, resilience, and self-belief—encouraging listeners to stand for who they are and what they believe in. Lead guitarist Dave “The RockDoc” Rosenfeld has been a lifelong musician while simultaneously building a successful and highly decorated career as one of New Jersey's top dental practitioners. His precision, intensity, and passion translate seamlessly from profession to performance. Inspired by her husband's ambition and love for music, Karen “Kar Rose” Rosenfeld joined as drummer and co-founder. Her impeccable timing, hard-hitting power, and dynamic, lyrical playing make her the unmistakable heartbeat of the band. Frontwoman Trybe grew up immersed in music, studying piano and clarinet while deliberately avoiding the family tradition of guitar and drums. After a challenging transition following 13 years of service in the United States Army—serving in the JAG Corps, Operation Enduring Freedom, Civil Affairs, and later as a Drill Sergeant—she rediscovered music as a source of purpose and healing. A self-taught vocalist, her voice became her weapon, forging the commanding, powerhouse identity that defines Black Rose Rebellion. Brooklyn-born bassist Michele Mayhem brings a fierce, authentic rock edge shaped by years of live performance. Known for her powerful stage presence and grounded intensity, her experience and energy add a commanding dimension to the band's sound. Black Rose Rebellion came out of the gate strong, performing at some of New Jersey's most prestigious venues and directly supporting artists such as Sponge, Spread Eagle, and other rising national acts. With their debut album set for release in the near future, the band continues to grow its loyal following—The Rebel Army. "Listen. If 9/11 didn't happen, we wouldn't have My Chemical Romance. We wouldn't have Twilight. We wouldn't have this entire Tumblr core era of girly pop." We took the podcast to C2E2! In front of a live Chicago audience, we are unpacking the pipeline between My Chemical Romance, early 2000s pop-punk, and the comic book industry. Lizzie officially steps into her role as our resident Gerard Way historian to explain how The Umbrella Academy and The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys took the intricate, non-linear storytelling of MCR and translated it into graphic novels that spoke directly to scene kids. Plus, we talk about the bizarrely perfect era of 2000s superhero movie soundtracks, and yes, we actually connect 9/11 to the creation of My Chemical Romance and Twilight (we told you it was a live show). What we cover on the panel: • Why The Umbrella Academy is essentially a family trauma story dressed as a superhero comic • Gerard Way's transition from the Black Parade era into comic book writing • The emo lore behind Patrick Stump and Max Bemis entering the comic space • Why movies like Daredevil and Spider-Man had memorable scene soundtracks • The infamous 9/11 to MCR to Twilight domino effect" "Is Umbrella Academy an emo comic book? I would argue yes. It's acknowledging family trauma and abandonment in a creative way that makes people draw that inwards, just like listening to My Chemical Romance or Paramore." "The Danger Days era was a vibrant, loud shift... having these big bright colors and being whimsical again. It's joy as an act of resistance." "There were a lot of artists and a lot of songs that I found specifically from comic book movies of the early 2000s because there was clearly some crossover of, like, well, if you like Spider-Man, you're gonna love Dashboard Confessional." Fully & Completely: Redux"In Between Evolution"Hosts: jD & Greg LeGros | Guest: Toronto Mike | Fully & Completely: ReduxThe EpisodeThere are records you fall into immediately - and then there are the ones that sneak up on you. "In Between Evolution" is absolutely the second kind. The Tragically Hip's 2004 record is one of their most slept-on, most politically charged, and - depending on who you ask - one of their very best. jD and Greg LeGros dig in track by track, joined by Toronto's favourite podcast man, Toronto Mike. It's feisty. It's got punk energy. And for a record that got passed over in 2004, it holds up like an absolute bruiser. So there's that.Guest SpotlightToronto Mike from Toronto, OntarioToronto Mike is the podcaster and blogger behind torontomic.com and Toronto Miked - a fiercely independent Toronto-centric podcast that's been going longer than most people can remember. He's a passionate Hip fan who - full disclosure - once had serious plans to launch his own Tragically Hip album-by-album podcast series. He abandoned those plans specifically because jD and Greg were doing it too well. That's not spin. That's what he said on mic."I went into the podcast kind of tiny bit hoping it would suck."- Toronto Mike, on hearing Fully & Completely for the first timeWhat's In This OneA full track-by-track of "In Between Evolution" plus the cultural context of June 2004 - which, as it turns out, is a lot. Here's some of what you're getting into:Why this is probably The Tragically Hip's most overtly political record - and why it had no choice but to be (they recorded it in Seattle, surrounded by American media, one year after the U.S. went into Iraq)'Heaven Is a Better Place Today' - a tribute to Dan Snyder built on funeral clichés and sports colloquialisms that somehow makes you cry. Every time.'Summer's Killing Us' - the song Greg would play for anyone who's never heard of this band. Not even officially released as a single. Absolutely should have been.'Gus the Polar Bear from Central Park' - a slow burn. Toronto Mike did not like it at first. He's come around. We dig into why.'Vaccination Scar' - the actual lead single, and a song that gets a bit more complicated the more you think about it'It Can't Be Nashville Every Night' - the one with the la-la-oos in the chorus that should not work, and absolutely does. Possibly a Toby Keith thing. Possibly a Dixie Chicks thing. Definitely a great song.'One Night in Copenhagen' - band turmoil, Gord's solo career pulling on the seams, and that one line about a payphone in the snow that Greg still talks about'Goodnight Josephine' - the closer that sounds like late-period Springsteen and contains some of the most beautiful lyrics Gord ever put down on tapeThe Stanley Cup Final, the Grey Cup halftime show (yes, The Hip played it), a commemorative Tragically Hip CD, and how the 2004 Leafs playoff run ended a sketch troupe's road trip to LAThe Cultural Climate: June 2004Greg always brings the goods on context, and June 2004 is a rich one. "In Between Evolution" landed in the middle of a musical year that included American Idiot, College Dropout, Funeral, Hot Fuss, and Songs for the Deaf. Commercially, the charts were a very different story - Usher, Evanescence, Josh Groban, and a lot of stuff these three would rather forget. It's a great time to be a music fan if you knew where to look. This was a record that knew exactly where it was looking.Pocket SongsAt the end of every record, we each pull one track to carry forward to the playlist.jD: 'Goodnight Josephine'Greg: 'It Can't Be Nashville Every Night'Toronto Mike: 'Are We Family'Why This Record MattersBecause it got slept on. Even in the band's own documentary, this one gets two seconds. And that's bananas - because it is a deep, huge favourite, and it is one of their very best. It's a hard rocker. It's a protest record. It's a record about loss, and change, and what happens when the things you love don't get to stay the same. It's the most guitar-forward record they ever made, and it has the audacity to rhyme its chorus with la-la-oos.Spend time with this album. This album is waiting for you.About Fully & Completely: ReduxFully & Completely: Redux is the reunion of the original Fully & Completely podcast - the show that started it all in 2018. jD and Greg LeGros go back through The Tragically Hip's full catalogue, album by album, track by track.
