The tour will be Evanescence's first as a headlining act in nearly four years. In September, Amy Lee of Evanescence teamed up with Cortney LaPlante of Spiritbox and Poppy to release the song "End of You." The single was well-received and served as a precursor to Spiritbox and Poppy joining Evanescence as opening acts for the 2026 tour. In a relatively short amount of time as far as the music industry goes, Swedish rock outfit Smash Into Pieces have quickly risen to become one of the leading exponents of rock on the planet. After twice reaching the Swedish Eurovision final and delivering a string of consistently quality albums, the band found themselves on the international stage and touring with bands of the calibre of Evanescence and Within Temptation.But if you think getting somewhere near the top is hard, it's even harder staying there. All of a sudden, the weight of expectation falls heavier on your shoulders, and new music is critiqued on a level never experienced before. Which is why the next album from Smash Into Pieces couldn't just be as good as previous releases. It had to be better.Which is exactly what Smash Into Pieces have achieved with Armaheaven, to be released on October 31. Continuing the battle between humanity and AI where previous album Ghost Code left off, Armaheaven paints an even bleaker picture of humanity's future, set to the backdrop of a cinematic and sonically abundant tapestry of riches throughout its 15 tracks. They say music runs in the blood, and if ever there was a family to prove this theory, it's the Trujillo's. Dad, Rob, plays in Metallica, Mum, Chloe, is in BLVD Of Eyes, daughter Lullah is an accomplished drummer, while son Tye plays in Suicidal Tendencies and also OTTTO. Not a bad lot to hear jamming in the garage!While most people know, or at least have heard of, the above bands, there's one there that may not be as familiar. The band OTTTO, who have been Tye's band project since 2017. With a sound blending punk, alternative rock and grunge, OTTTO have been steadily building their careers, culminating in the release of the new EP Sweaty Pool, which will be released on December 5.But for the immediate future, Tye will be out here in Australia with Suicidal Tendencies as direct support for Metallica and Evanescence on the Aussie leg of the massive M72 Tour. What's more, it will be a family affair, with Rob obviously in Metallica and Chloe starting an Australian tour of her own with BLVD Of Eyes straight after Metallica's run finishes.What's the chances of a family stage reunion? The former suffer from high touring expenses and unreasonable label demands that often leave them penniless or in the red, while the latter have to shell out a hefty sum to attend the live shows of their favorite bands. Michael Rapino, Live Nation's CEO, thinks otherwise. He's certain that concerts should be more expensive than they currently are. Speaking at CNBC and Boardroom's Game Plan conference, Rapino stated that people have no problem paying large amounts of money for sports. According to Fielder, one major factor is that pilots are unwilling to communicate candidly with each other, especially when they disagree or have bad news to deliver.To test this theory, Fielder used his resources from The Rehearsal to create a fictional(?) aviation-themed singing competition called Wings of Voice. In this competition, pilots judged singers performances, advanced the ones they liked, and were forced to break the bad news to some contestants that they were eliminated. The idea was that by forcing them to break singers' hearts, the process would reveal something about what it takes to be a good communicator.I used a “(?)” next to “fictional” above because even though contestants on Wings of Voice were occasionally made the butt of the joke on The Rehearsal and the competition never aired as its own TV show, the winner of the competition still received something of value: the privilege of performing a song for HBO's audience on national television.Today I'm speaking with the winner of that competition, Isabella Henao. As a fellow musician, I thought Henao crushed her performance of Evanescence's “Bring Me To Life” in the culminating moments of season two. And as someone who is endlessly fascinated by how much of Fielder's stunts are “real,” I was thrilled to get an insider's perspective on what it's like to go through Fielder's shenanigans as they happen. Henao spoke with me about what it was like to go through the audition process, what contestants were actually told about what was happening, what other contestants' thought about the whole thing, and how being on The Rehearsal changed her life.This interview has been edited and condensed for brevity and clarity.
