E soprattutto che hanno la funzione di stimolo alla creatività, come ben sapevano gli scrittori dell'OuLiPo come Perec e Queneau (cui si unì Italo Calvino), che hanno prodotto capolavori assoluti a partire da una griglia di norme formali in cui sbizzarrirsi con la fantasia per ottenere il miglior risultato, proprio come in un gioco di società.E, d'altra parte, il piacere del gioco, che sia coltivato individualmente o in gruppo, si alimenta spessissimo con la lingua, le parole e la loro duttilità, i sensi multipli (e i nonsensi), le assonanze. Dal Gioco del vocabolario al Telegrafo senza fili, dal Taboo ai surrealisti Cadaveri Squisiti, ai molteplici giochi enigmistici il divertimento passa attraverso il linguaggio, la sua manipolazione gioiosa, lo stupore infantile della scoperta di nuovi sensi e nuovi suoni.Questo laboratorio vuole affrontare con serissima leggerezza la relazione tra parola e gioco, in entrambe le direzioni: usare il gioco e le sue regole come strumento creativo per scrivere e le parole per giocare e divertirsi. durée : 00:46:00 - Les Nuits de France Culture - Au micro d'Alain Veinstein en 1990, l'écrivain et poète américain Harry Mathews racontait sa formation à New York, son arrivée à Paris et son amitié "bouleversante et irremplaçable" avec Georges Perec, qui le fit entrer à l'Oulipo en 1973. Né en 1930 à New York, étudiant à Princeton puis à Harvard dont il sortit diplômé de musicologie en 1952, Harry Mathews a publié ses premiers poèmes en 1956 aux Etats-Unis. Avec le poète américain John Ashbery, rattaché comme lui à la dénommée « école de New York », il fonda la revue Locus Solus - un titre emprunté à Raymond Roussel, dont la découverte fut pour lui fondamentale.  * C'est la règle primordiale de Raymond Roussel : « rien, sauf l'imaginaire », qui m'a inspirée, autant sinon plus que ses procédés d'écriture. Après son installation en France au début des années 1950, il fit la connaissance de Georges Perec en 1970. Il en devint l'ami, et c'est par l'entremise de Perec qu'il rejoignit l'Oulipo, en 1973.  Avec Georges Perec, j'ai connu une amitié bouleversante et, je le crains, irremplaçable. C'est quelqu'un que j'ai aimé tout de suite et qui m'a aimé tout de suite. Je n'ai compris que bien des années plus tard pour quelles raisons. Dans l'Oulipo, j'ai trouvé non pas des racines, mais une famille. Cela marche véritablement comme une famille : on ne met pas en question les opinions politiques, les goûts des uns et des autres. Nous sommes ensemble dans cette entreprise, cette toute petite entreprise, et nous nous aimons beaucoup à l'intérieur de cette structure. Disparu en 2017, il fut l'auteur de plusieurs recueils de poésie, de traductions, d'essais critiques et de six romans, depuis Conversions, son tout premier publié aux Etats-Unis au début des années 1960, jusqu'à Ma vie dans la CIA, paru en 2005.  En 1990, à l'occasion de la reparution de Conversions aux éditions Gallimard et du Naufrage du stade Odradek aux éditions POL, il était l'invité d'Alain Veinstein dans l'émission « Du jour au lendemain », et exposait notamment son travail sur ces deux romans, sans toutefois tout dévoiler les contraintes ayant présidé à leur composition. A l'Oulipo, il y a en quelque sorte deux clans : le "clan Perec", c'est-à-dire les écrivains qui croient que quand on écrit, on doit afficher les règles. Et le "clan Queneau", qui pense que le mystère ne fait pas de mal. J'appartiens plutôt au deuxième clan.
