Moja dnešná hostka sa totiž momentálne v Estónsku nachádza, je tam na stáži v Estónskom muzeu architektúry, narodila sa ale v Českej republike, v Zlíne, takže sa nebojte, rozumieť jej básňam budete. Lucie Janečková ich začala písať v poslednom ročníku na gymnáziu. Jej básne ocenili v mnohých literárnych súťažiach, napr. Ortenova Kutná Hora alebo Literární cena Vladimíra Vokolka, publikovala v časopise Tvar a stala sa laureátkou Literárnej súťaže Františka Halase, vďaka čomu jej teraz v októbri 2026 vychádza debutová básnická zbierka Mělko.

Iedere twee maanden spreekt boekenredacteur Maurice Hoogendoorn met een bekende gast over drie boeken die bepalend waren in zijn of haar leven. Hoe veranderde dat ene boek hun leven? Verder vertelt ze wat de gedichten van Judith Herzberg voor haar betekenen - die licht lijken, maar waar altijd een hele werkelijkheid achter schuilgaat. Vaicājam ne tikai par gaidāmo konferenci, bet arī, ko zinātnieki teiktu par lasīšanas kultūru 21. gadsimtā? 16. līdz 18. septembrim Latvijas Universitātes (LU) Literatūras, folkloras un mākslas institūts Rīgā rīkos starptautisku zinātnisku konferenci “Kas veido literatūru: pārskatot reālismu, poētiku un piederību”. Konference ir viens no centrālajiem notikumiem LU Literatūras, folkloras un mākslas institūta 80. jubilejas gadā. Konferences programma veidota četros savstarpēji saistītos tematiskajos virzienos: reālisma kartēšana; poētika un literārās formas; piederība un identitāte; digitālā literatūra un lasīšanas kultūras. A chancela Kiala, da editora Vírgula d'Interrogação, nasceu para publicar livros de autores negros em Portugal e para responder a uma subrepresentação no mercado editorial português, conta a criadora do projecto Elga Fontes. "Kiala” é uma palavra com raízes no kimbundu, uma língua Bantu de Angola, e significa "trazer luz ou iluminar”, o que traduz a ideia desta chancela: “trazer luz a vozes que ainda não estão presentes no mercado literário português”.  “A Kiala é uma chancela do grupo editorial Vírgula d'Interrogação que pretende publicar livros de autores negros em Portugal”, começa por resumir a sua criadora Elga Fontes, que também é tradutora, revisora e fundadora da oficina editorial Quem Me Lera, o mesmo nome da sua página Instagram em que partilha, há anos, sugestões de livros com milhares de seguidores. Quisemos conhecer o projecto de Elga Fontes e convidámo-la a partilhar connosco a história da Kiala. Elga nasceu em Portugal há 31 anos, é angolana por parte da mãe e cabo-verdiana por parte do pai. Licenciou-se em Línguas e Culturas na Faculdade de Letras de Lisboa, fez um mestrado em Estudos Editoriais na Universidade de Aveiro, começou a trabalhar como revisora ainda durante a licenciatura e, pouco depois, entrou no mundo da tradução editorial. Foi, também, durante a universidade que criou a página Instagram #quemmelera para ter “uma plataforma para falar sobre o que lia” e “encontrar outras pessoas que gostassem de ler”. A acompanhar esse amor pela literatura, esteve sempre a impressão de uma invisibilidade crónica de autores negros nas estantes das livrarias em Portugal, algo que acabou por ser validado por um trabalho académico que fez e que mostrou isso mesmo. A Kiala acaba por surgir, anos mais tarde, em resposta a essa lacuna e nasce como uma chancela da editora Vírgula d'Interrogação. O nome escolhido, "Kiala", vem do kimbundu, uma língua Bantu de Angola, com múltiplos significados, entre os quais “o trazer luz ou iluminar”. “Acho que funciona como metáfora para aquilo que nós queremos fazer que é - num sentido muito figurativo - iluminar, trazer luz a estas vozes que ainda não estão tão presentes no mercado literário português”, acrescenta a editora. “Já há alguns anos que, enquanto leitora e enquanto profissional da área, tenho reparado que existe uma sub-representação na presença de autores negros nas estantes das livrarias de Portugal. A Kiala surgiu como uma ferramenta para tentar combater isso”, conta Elga Fontes. Questionada sobre as razões dessa ausência de autores negros nas livrarias, Elga diz que “há muitos motivos essencialmente estruturais”, desde logo o facto de o mercado editorial português ser “muito pequenino, muito precário e onde é muito caro fazer livros” e também “é muito difícil vendê-los” devido aos parcos hábitos de leitura. Por isso, as editoras “acabam por apostar naqueles livros que têm mais visibilidade lá fora e mais garantias de poder dar algum lucro e, infelizmente, esses livros, na sua maioria, não incluem vozes fora daquilo que é considerado padrão e normativo”. Depois, acrescenta a editora, o racismo e as feridas abertas do colonialismo são “sem dúvida, dos maiores motivos para o qual existe esta sub-representação de autores negros” em Portugal. Para combater também esse racismo, a Kiala tem um “guia de termos a evitar e as alternativas”, já que a própria Elga, também tradutora, chegou a ver uma tradução sua alterada com expressões racistas que foram introduzidas posteriormente. O primeiro livro publicado este ano pela Kiala foi uma obra de não-ficção intitulada “Feminismo na Periferia”, de Miki Kendall e, em Novembro, vai ser lançado o segundo “A Morte de Vivek Oji”, um romance de Akwaeke Emezi, uma autora nigeriana não binária. Para 2027, também há três livros fechados. Enquanto editora generalista, o objectivo é publicar vários géneros, estar “atentos ao que é publicado noutros mercados”, nomeadamente a “autores negros que estão a surgir e também as obras que, apesar de já terem alguma relevância internacional, ainda não chegaram a Portugal”. “Eu que faço a selecção dos livros, faço esta pesquisa. Também estou muito por dentro do que se faz lá fora, contacto agentes, leio os livros e gosto de me guiar por uma questão que é: Que conversa é que este livro pode iniciar ou continuar em Portugal?”, explica a editora. Quanto às ambições, Elga diz querer muito “que a Kiala consiga construir um catálogo de referência com livros que as pessoas continuem a descobrir ao longo dos anos” e que contribua “para normalizar” a presença de autores negros nas livrarias, ou seja, “entrar numa livraria e encontrar muitos autores negros, de diferentes géneros, diferentes países e com diferentes perspectivas”.
