Simon Rosenberg is a leading democratic strategist who successfully predicted many of the outcomes of the 2022 Election. In his second visit with Chris and Sean, Simon outlines the strengths of the Democratic party in 2023; and the prospects of a 2024 run for Joe Biden. He also analyzes the implosion of the Republican party being played out on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives and what it means for the nation. Will MAGA populism continue to win out over principled conservatism? Or, will a new coalition of Center-Left and Center-Right pragmatists realign the country to it's founding principles? The Republican Party continues to flail and point fingers at one another. The traditional media pretends it did not completely blow it on predicting a “red wave” a few weeks ago. On today's episode, Markos is joined by Democratic political strategist Simon Rosenberg. Rosenberg was one of the few outsiders who, like Daily Kos, kept telling the world that these midterm races were closer than was being reported. The two do a little gloating about being right in their optimism coming into the 2022 midterm elections, give their analysis of Democratic candidates' successes, and point to signs that the Republican Party is terrified as we head into the 2024 election cycle.
In our last preview of the 2022 election, I cited Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg as a "unique voice" in a sea of forecasters and pundits who said Democrats were going to get wiped out in the midterms. I also said that if he was right, I'd reach out to him for an interview and figure out why he got it right when everyone else got it wrong. Well, he was right. And I did reach out. And today, you'll hear our conversation about 2022, the people who got it wrong, what he saw that everyone else didn't, and what he expects in 2024. You can read today's podcast here. In this short, but spirited conversation, Tom Bonier of Target Smart and Simon Rosenberg of NDN and host of the With Democrats, Things Get Better series, joins me on the pod to laugh at the Republican Party's red tinkle. Simon Rosenberg, Founder of the New Democrat Network and New Policy Institute in Washington, DC, shares his analysis on the midterms and what he was seeing that made him confident of Democrats outperforming expectations, unlike most of the media and pundits who predicted a Red Wave.

When do we finally reject the truly bad information we're bombarded with around every election? Most of the world was taken in by the predictions of a Red Wave or even a Tsunami in the midterms this year, pushed by pollsters and pundits and breathlessly regurgitated by the most complicit of TV commentators, anchors and wannabe professionals. Some cautioned us. Most notably Michael Moore, who screamed in daily emails to ignore the voices. He was correct. As were a few others with not quite as large a megaphone. One of those was Simon Rosenberg, a veteran Democratic political strategist and the founder of NDN and the New Policy Institute. Simon's seen this movie before, and he was quite outspoken throughout the disinformation barrage about his distrust in these polls, but placed much of the blame on the "massive media failure" that propelled the propaganda. I'll speak with Simon on today's show, and then look to the future... and more specifically next Tuesday, Dec 6, when he'll present "With Democrats Things Get Better"
Michael Steele speaks with Simon Rosenberg, President of New Democratic Network, for a follow-up discussion on the midterm elections. Hosts Jill Wine-Banks and Victor Shi are joined by Simon Rosenberg and John Della Volpe to talk about the midterm elections and we should all take away from the midterms. What is the future of the Gen Z vote? How off were polls and how should we read polls from now on? What should both parties learn from the midterms? We get into all of this with two experts. Simon Rosenberg is the president of NDN and New Policy Institute and is a veteran of two presidential campaigns and was someone who predicted that there would be no red wave in this election, which proved accurate. John Della Volpe is the director of polling at Harvard and author of Fight: How Gen Z is Channeling their Fear and Passion to Save America. He predicted there would be a Gen Z wave and he was right. Tonight on The Last Word: Democrats retain the majority in the U.S. Senate. Also, President Biden says he's unsure if there are enough votes to codify abortion rights. Plus, Democrats flip a long-held GOP House seat in Washington. And Democrats add seats in legislatures of key 2024 battleground states. Sen. Gary Peters, White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, Rep.-elect Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Jessica Post and Simon Rosenberg join Lawrence O'Donnell.
When all the experts were predicting a 'red wave,' one man called BS. He got the midterms right, and never backed down. On today's podcast, Matt asks Simon Rosenberg what he saw that nobody else understood—and why he never backed down. (He also names names.) Don't miss this conversation!

Simon Rosenberg is the head of the progressive think tank NDN, and he has a message for jittery Democrats on the eve of the midterms: cheer up! This week on the Playbook Deep Dive podcast we sit down with the Democratic Party's apostle of optimism. “I'm not sitting here and telling you we're going to win,” Simon told us over lunch this week. “What I'm telling you is that the narrative about this election, about there being a red wave— there isn't one. There never has been.” If you spend a lot of time on political Twitter, you have no doubt encountered Simon's tweets and threads over the last few weeks. He's built a large and loyal following of Democrats looking for silver linings amid the clouds of negative media coverage about their party's prospects in the midterms. — Hispanics abandoning his party? Simon says that NDN's polling doesn't show it. — Polling averages tilting to the GOP in the last few weeks? Simon says they've been polluted by a barrage of Republican polls dumped strategically to depress Democrats and excite Republicans. (This claim has been met with a lot of skepticism, because surely Democratic campaigns would be leaking their own internals, but we digress…) — And that red wave? Simon says that if you look at the Kansas abortion referendum, the five House special elections earlier this year, and especially the early voting data, that the anti-Trump coalition that powered Democrats to victory in 2018 and 2020 is holding strong in 2022. The founder of New Democrat Network has been reading the political tea leaves and sees a bright future for democrats, even with the low presidential poll numbers and inflation concerns. The podcast duo also looks at the fallout of the Kansas abortion vote and how it may motivate voters through the fall. In this week's meaningful moment, they share words of inspiration from the late, great sportscasting legend Vin Scully.
Simon Rosenberg joins Joe and Alex to discuss why Democrats have all the momentum in national polls and how Dem chances continue to get better in the Senate and the House. Plus, what "cosmic ray" flipped a bunch of brains in the Senate? We talk about two colossal Democratic legislative wins that have the potential to reshape our national coalition -- and how House Republicans shot themselves in the foot by voting no on the CHIPS Act. In less than a year, US President Joe Biden's approval ratings have sunk from a high of 57 percent in January 2021 to a low of 40 percent this January. His attempt to pass the Build Back Better Act, which includes plans for a social and economic overhaul of the US, failed. As did the Democratic push to pass sweeping election reform. Now, Biden must contend with inflation, a coronavirus surge and the geopolitical crisis in Ukraine. Host Steve Clemons asks Democratic strategists Simon Rosenberg and Nomiki Konst what Biden has to do to recharge his party and his own popularity.

Joe welcomes Simon Rosenberg, president of NDN and the New Policy Institute. He's a Democratic campaign veteran who is both realistic and optimistic about the coalition Democrats must build to win in 2022. The discussion touches on how infighting among Democrats is becoming an obstacle for the president, and how the difficulty passing the overwhelmingly popular infrastructure bill has led to a decline in polls. But all is not as bleak as it seems. Joe, Simon and Alex have hope for the midterms and 2024, and Simon would still "rather be us than them." On today's show, we talk to longtime friend Simon Rosenberg about the importance of Democratic messaging, and exactly how Democrats should go about improving their messaging as we enter the Biden years. He's worked for the DNC and DCCC, on the Dukakis and Clinton 92 presidential campaigns, and is a former producer for ABC News. This is one of our free episodes. Ryan Gorman hosts an iHeartRadio 2020 Vote Post-Presidential Debate special. In this interview, Ryan talks to Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg about the first presidential debate and what it means for the race.
Simon Rosenberg is president of the New Democrats Network and the New Policy Institute, a liberal think tank based in Washington, DC. He has served as a senior advisor to the Democratic Party at the highest levels and has worked in two presidential campaigns, including a senior role in the 1992 Clinton “War Room”. Simon Rosenberg shares his thoughts on what issues should be prioritized during the first 100 days of a Joe Biden presidency. Rosenberg also explains how Donald Trump does not intend to win the 2020 presidential election but rather to steal it and then engage in a full-on political crackdown against any American who dares to oppose him. Rosenberg also suggests that Donald Trump is being mentored by Vladimir Putin and other authoritarians -- and then acting on that tutelage as he unleashes his federal secret police in places such as Portland and conspires in plain sight to keep the American people from voting by various means including interfering with the U.S. mail. Chauncey DeVega recounts this past week's breathless assault on American democracy by Donald Trump and his regime which includes abominations such as destroying the United States Postal Service to keep the American people from voting against the Great Leader and Mad King as well as a Putin-inspired performance where Trump blackmailed the country by de facto trying to defund Social Security and Medicare in exchange for a second term in office. Chauncey also continues his commitment to public health by sharing a new article from Scientific American which explains why too many men do not wear masks. Why? The mask is the “condom of the face” and one is a “threat” to such pathetic men's fragile ans weak "masculinity". Simon Rosenberg is a political strategist for the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, with decades of experience working in multi-platform political campaigns. Rosenberg shares unique insights from the hacking of the Democratic party institutions during the 2016 election. He discusses the tactics used by the Russians that, he asserts, had a determinative effect Donald Trump’s victory. He discusses the evolution of social media disinformation campaigns that impacted the 2018 elections. And how he and his colleagues worked with tech giants like Facebook, Twitter and Google to combat foreign-source accounts, bots, and trolls online. From these experiences, Rosenberg has ideas on how campaigns, candidates, and the government should be preparing for the next round of interference in the 2020 elections. Happy new year gang, it's the return of the swamp! In our first episode of 2018, we'll be talking to Simon Rosenberg, President of the New Democratic Network, to get his take on the "bomb cyclone" enrapturing Steve Bannon (aka Darth Vader) and the WH. Next, Chenell sparks up conversation with Ben Cort, author of "Weed, Inc. The Truth About the Pot Lobby, THC, and the Commercial Marijuana Industry". Finally, we peek behind the curtains of Congress with former United States Congressman Joe Garcia.
Title credit to the witty and talented Michael Grunwald from POLITICO Magazine, who joins us to talk about Trump’s Swamp a year after the election. Simon Rosenberg from the NDN phones in to discuss the hostile ‘shirts vs. skins’ nature of Fox News in the Trumpian era, and artist Billie Grace Lynn pays us a visit to talk about the national controversy surrounding her latest 'American Mask' exhibition.
Joe and Alex are joined by TargetSmart CEO Tom Bonier and Simon Rosenberg to break down what we actually saw in the 2022 midterms. How did a new tool help crush the narrative of the Red Mirage? And why did the media stay so locked in on the Red Wave idea? (They did their own research!) Turns out hopium on our side was more like... copium from theirs. How bad was the MAGA hangover? And what's the future of the Democratic coalition - why does it all come back to Arizona? Finally - a quick look at Georgia.
