SEND ME A TEXT MESSAGE NOWCan the Republican Party truly claim the mantle of the working class? I challenge Mitt Romney's claims as he shares his insights with CNN's Jake Tapper. Romney suggests that the GOP has transformed under Donald Trump's influence and hints at JD Vance as a future leader for 2028. I'm skeptical of these assertions and question whether the party genuinely reflects the interests of blue-collar Americans. Romney also criticizes the Democratic Party for supposedly losing its base, but I counter that while Democrats need new leadership and fresh strategies, their situation isn't as dire as he portrays. It's a compelling discussion on the need for both parties to reconnect with the people they aim to represent.Unexpected twists and turns in politics make headlines as a key House panel decides on the Matt Gaetz ethics report, sparking speculation about hidden motives. Meanwhile, a Georgia appeals court's decision about Fulton County DA Fani Willis on the case against Donald Trump raises eyebrows and potential shifts in ongoing legal battles. But not all is serious as I celebrate a leap forward for women in sports—the announcement of a Women's Professional Baseball League set to debut in 2026. Inspired by "A League of Their Own," this league promises to be a groundbreaking platform for female athletes. I invite our listeners to share their thoughts and become part of our community as I navigate these complex and fascinating events.AWorldGoneMadPodcast@gmail.com

CTL Script/ Top Stories of September 17th Publish Date: September 17th From the Ingles Studio Welcome to the Award-Winning Cherokee Tribune Ledger Podcast Today is Tuesday, September 17th and Happy heavenly Birthday to Hank Williams ***09.17.24 – BIRTHDAY – HANK WILLIAMS*** I'm Keith Ippolito and here are the stories Cherokee is talking about, presented by Credit Union of Georgia. Canton Approves New Zoning Map Canton Applying for Grant for Pedestrian Bridge Reinhardt Falters on the Road Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on fiber. We'll have all this and more coming up on the Cherokee Tribune-Ledger Podcast, and if you're looking for Community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! Commercial: CU of GA (FREE CHECKING) STORY 1: Canton Approves New Zoning Map The city of Canton has adopted a new zoning map, aimed at simplifying the zoning classifications following unanimous approval by the City Council on September 12. The update reflects changes made in April, which included the removal of several zoning categories to streamline the process. In August, city staff presented the map, followed by a public hearing on August 15 to gather resident feedback. Property owners were notified and given the chance to request changes; ten of these requests were incorporated into the final map. Key zoning districts now include Central Business District, General Commercial, Light Industrial, and various residential and mixed-use categories. The map also designates special use zones for governmental and quasi-governmental facilities. This effort was led by Community Development Director Kevin Turner and his team, who worked closely with residents to address concerns. STORY 2: Canton Applying for Grant for Pedestrian Bridge The Canton City Council has approved a resolution to apply for a Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program Grant for the $6.1 million River Mill Pedestrian Bridge project, which aims to connect The Mill on Etowah to the Etowah trail network. The project includes a pedestrian bridge, put-in/take-out area for kayaking, and a paved trail, with a projected budget of $6,165,938.40. Funding will come from the grant, Special Purpose Local Options Sales Tax, and impact fees. The bridge, designed with a concrete deck and prefab steel truss, is expected to start construction in mid to late 2025 and have a lifespan of over 75 years. The City also awarded a contract for the trail design to integrate with the bridge, with construction aligning for 2025. STORY 3: Reinhardt Falters on the Road Reinhardt University's football team faced a tough defeat against Southeastern, losing 28-10 during a non-conference game in Lakeland, Florida. The Eagles, now 1-2, initially took the lead but failed to score in the second half due to costly special teams errors. The game was part of a challenging road trip, and despite a strong start, Reinhardt's mistakes, including a blocked punt returned for a touchdown, proved detrimental. Quarterback Stephin Craig completed 14 of 32 passes for 132 yards, with the team struggling in execution. The Eagles will host Cumberlands next Saturday at Ken White Field before continuing their schedule against Georgetown and Pikeville. Coach James Miller expressed frustration but emphasized the need to improve and prepare for upcoming challenges. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. Back in a moment Break: DRAKE (CHEROKEE) STORY 4: Public Hearing Set for Cherokee's Proposed $415M Budget The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners is set to hold a public hearing today to gather resident input on the proposed $415.7 million budget for fiscal year 2025. The budget presentation will start at 6 p.m. at Cherokee Hall, Cherokee County Conference Center, followed by the hearing. The proposed budget allocates 54.1% to public safety, 20.5% to judicial services, and 15.3% to general administration, among other areas. Commissioners will review the budget for adoption during their regular meeting on October 1. Residents can view the budget details online for further information. STORY 5: Burt Jones Cleared of Criminal Intent Following 2020 Presidential Election Lt. Gov. Burt Jones has been exonerated by the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia after an investigation into his role as an alternate elector following the 2020 presidential election. Jones, then a Republican state senator, was part of a group that voted to cast Georgia's electoral votes for Donald Trump despite Joe Biden's victory in the state. The investigation, led by Pete Skandalakis after Fulton County DA Fani Willis was disqualified due to a conflict of interest, found no criminal intent in Jones' actions. The findings indicated that Jones acted on legal advice to preserve potential legal remedies for Trump amid election disputes. Despite other GOP electors facing indictments, no charges were brought against Jones, who used the same defense during his 2022 campaign for lieutenant governor. In this episode of “Sara Gonzales Unfiltered,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr. didn't qualify for next week's presidential debate, set for June 27. CNN has introduced strict new rules for the debate, including muted microphones, commercial breaks, no live audience, no opening statements, and no pre-written notes. Former CNN political analyst Chris Cillizza suggests that these rules favor President Joe Biden, who will remain at Camp David until the day of the debate. Meanwhile, Washington's Democratic governor, Jay Inslee, is stockpiling abortion pills in response to a potential Trump administration return. In a shocking revelation brought by James O'Keefe, Disney's senior VP, Michael Giordano, exposed discriminatory hiring practices against white males, such as the company using "code words" to dodge legal trouble and offering bonuses for diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Giordano also notes candidates have been rejected for not fitting racial profiles. Just Stop Oil protesters caused a stir by spraying orange cornflour paint on Stonehenge. NBC's medical drama, "New Amsterdam," made an insane claim that cancer can be caused by racism. Lastly, on "The Daily Show," Marlon Wayans grilled Nathan Wade about his affair with Fulton County DA Fani Willis. BlazeTV contributors Jaco Booyens and Matthew Marsden join the show. In this episode of "Sara Gonzales Unfiltered," Sara analyzes the latest Supreme Court decision in FDA vs. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine. Sara breaks down the unanimous ruling, emphasizing its technicality over the standing of the plaintiffs rather than the morality of the case. She criticizes the FDA's relaxed regulations on the abortion pill and highlights the health risks posed to women, arguing that the left's stance on women's health is contradictory and dangerous. Next, Sara interviews Charlie LeDuff, host of "No BS News Hour." They discuss the troubling state of Michigan's voter rolls, with more registered voters than eligible adults, and the systemic issues that could impact the 2024 election. LeDuff shares insights from his investigation, including examples of outdated voter registrations and the challenges of maintaining clean voter rolls. Sara then discusses the explosive interview between CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins and Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor in the Georgia election case against Donald Trump. Wade visibly panicked when questioned about his romantic relationship with Fulton County DA Fani Willis and the financial implications of their affair. Finally, Sara comments on President Joe Biden's confused moment at the G7 Summit, where he appeared disoriented and distracted as a parachutist landed nearby, humorously noting his lack of situational awareness. In this excerpt from the CAFE Insider podcast, Preet Bharara and Joyce Vance discuss the gag order imposed on former President Donald Trump in the hush money prosecution in Manhattan. The gag order initially prevented Trump from criticizing witnesses, court staff, and jurors, but was recently expanded to also cover the judge's and DA's families after Trump made a series of social media posts attacking the judge's daughter. In the full episode, Preet and Joyce break down: – Reporting that Fulton County DA Fani Willis plans to take a lead role in trying the Trump election subversion prosecution in Georgia; – The Supreme Court oral arguments in a case that threatens to scale back access to the abortion drug Mifepristone; and – Former special counsel Robert Hur's recent testimony at a Congressional hearing about his report on President Joe Biden's handling of classified documents. This Presidents Day installment of the 538 Politics podcast grapples with a central question in the 2024 election: What are the legal limits of presidential behavior? Former President Donald Trump is facing 91 criminal charges across four different cases as he campaigns for the White House. Law professor Jessica Roth joins Galen to discuss some of the recent developments in each of the cases and what to expect next. Last week, the judge in the New York hush money case ruled that the trial will begin March 25, meaning it's now expected to be the first of Trump's cases to be tried. Also, Fulton County DA Fani Willis testified in a hearing to dismiss her from the Georgia election case; the defendants are pushing to have her disqualified on the basis of an alleged conflict of interest. Fulton County DA Fani Willis and special counsel Nathan Wade both took the stand on Thursday about their prior romantic relationship. On Monday's Mark Levin Show, the Democrat party and the media have a long history of labeling people they do not like as Hitler, from Ronald Reagan to Barry Goldwater to Donald Trump. The Republican establishment and the Democrat media tried to destroy Goldwater from within just as they are doing to Trump today with people like Chris Christie and John Sununu. It is a huge problem for the American people to have a corrupt media like we have today. Also, Fulton County DA Fani Willis had a relationship with and financially benefitted from the special prosecutor in the Trump case in Georgia. Over the weekend there was a big leak out of the special prosecutor's office in D.C. that helps the government and harms Trump. Trump is being gagged while at the same time, the Department of Justice is poisoning jury pools by selectively leaking information. Meanwhile, the DOJ is now looking to prosecute anyone who was simply outside of the Capitol on January 6, but Democrat “peaceful” protestors like Antifa and BLM get a slap on the wrist. Later, Mark is joined by Dave McCormick, Senate candidate for PA, about Biden's pressure on Israel to surrender to Hamas and how Israel is the tip of the spear in the fight against a terrorist ideology that threatens us all.
