What do disciplining a child, teaching preschool and taking good care of yourself have in common? The answer might surprise you. This week’s episode is inspired by a parenting technique that seemed too simple to actually work. But as soon as I watched this alarmingly unsophisticated tactic have wild success with my four and five year olds—and their friends—I had to ask myself: maybe there’s value in even the adults taking a break? How long should the break be? Why is this straightforward tool so powerful? Perhaps it has to do with putting us back in touch with our higher selves, our creative nature, our intuitive voice. To learn how taking a short break can combat burnout, calm big emotions and get you unstuck (and even how it can bring order to unruly preschoolers) take a listen and let me know what you think. Where do you need to take a break? As we've gone through this series, we've seen not only how God is love, but how he's loved us. This week we're going to learn about how God is loving THROUGH us, and how that will affect every one of our relationships: marriages, children, parents, friends, co-workers and everyone else in our lives--including our church. So come with us as we learn this crucial skill for loving others. Can't wait to see you! --Edwin Announcements: Saturday Sept. 27, Women's event, "Grief and God: Finding Spiritual Comfort Amidst the Unthinkable." 1-3 p.m., meal to follow. Facing Death with Wisdom Why do we fear death so intensely? Why does the loss of loved ones bring such unbearable grief? In this episode of the Pragmatic Gita Podcast, we journey through verses 2.25–2.30 of the Bhagavad Gita, where Krishna teaches Arjuna about the Unmanifested, Unthinkable, Unchangeable Eternal Soul. Why Krishna calls the soul avyaktaha (unmanifested), achintyaha (unthinkable), and avikaryaha (unchangeable). How the cycle of birth and death never touches the Unmanifested, Unthinkable, Unchangeable Eternal Soul. The meaning of sarva-gata—the soul as all-pervading, existing everywhere and always. The wonder of the soul: why some see it as a marvel, some hear of it but never understand it.How samskaras (mental impressions) silently shape karma and destiny. The simple but profound way to transform samskaras through bhakti yoga.Krishna explains that the soul is beyond perception, beyond the grasp of senses and intellect. The Unmanifested, Unthinkable, Unchangeable Eternal Soul is invisible to material eyes and inconceivable to thought, yet it is the truest reality within us. Just as a map can never capture the richness of a city, our concepts can never capture the full essence of the soul.Even when we cling to the belief that the soul is born and dies, Krishna's wisdom still applies: death is certain for the born, and birth is certain for the dead. Life moves in cycles, but the Unmanifested, Unthinkable, Unchangeable Eternal Soul remains untouched, indestructible, and eternal. To bring this teaching alive, we recall Yudhishthira's dialogue with Yama in the Mahabharata. When asked what is most surprising in this world, Yudhishthira replies: every day beings die, yet the living believe they are immortal. This paradox shows why Krishna urges Arjuna—and us—not to grieve over what is inevitable, but to focus on realizing the eternal. The Gita also links this wisdom to samskaras. Our impressions form habits, and habits create karma. Negative samskaras bind us in suffering, but Krishna gives hope: through devotion, even the most sinful person can transform and awaken to the Unmanifested, Unthinkable, Unchangeable Eternal Soul.Closing Thought: Death cannot destroy us. The Unmanifested, Unthinkable, Unchangeable Eternal Soul is indestructible, timeless, and beyond sorrow. By cultivating devotion and refining samskaras, we align with our eternal essence and step closer to liberation.krsnadaasa (Servant of Krishna)

Seven years ago, Anthea Kenny’s world shattered in the space of one conversation with her 11-year-old daughter. What followed was a nightmare no mother should ever have to face... abuse inside her own family, betrayal by the person she thought she knew, a justice system that didn’t always feel just, and the relentless task of holding it all together for four kids. But this isn’t just a story about trauma – it’s about the kind of belief, fight, and love that can rewrite an ending. From the moment Anthea heard her girls, she believed them. She acted. She fought through courtrooms, headlines, and a system stacked with roadblocks, and she did it while keeping sport, laughter, and a fierce sense of normality alive at home. Today, those kids are thriving. Anthea’s thriving. And she’s ready to turn her lived hell into a roadmap for other parents blindsided by the unthinkable. This is raw, real, and brimming with the kind of hope that only comes from someone who’s been to the darkest place… and found her way out. In episode 79, Chris and Emma explore the revolutionary idea that positive disintegration extends far beyond individual psychology with guest Richard Edelman, founder of Living Arts Wisdom and a cultural evolution strategist who synthesizes neuroscience, evolutionary philosophy, and trauma-informed practices. Drawing from interpersonal neurobiology, evolutionary theory, and climate psychology, Richard demonstrates how Dabrowski's developmental framework operates as a fractal pattern—appearing at the individual level, within relationships, across cultural systems, and throughout our species' evolution. This conversation reveals how our current global crises, from climate change to political upheaval, can be understood as manifestations of species-wide disintegration, and how individuals can become conscious participants in determining whether this leads to collapse or transformation.Key Topics Explored:* Interpersonal Neurobiology & Integration: Richard explains Dan Siegel's framework connecting mind, brain, and relationships, and how understanding integration helps us better comprehend what disintegrates in positive disintegration.* The Deep Neuroculture: A fascinating concept describing our collective nervous system as a species: the "mycelial network" beneath the surface of individual consciousness that shapes our biological and cultural niche.* Species-Wide Disintegration: How humanity is currently experiencing a collective positive disintegration driven by climate crisis, requiring us to transform our relationship with our environment.* Toxic Enculturation & Cycle Breaking: The process of liberating ourselves from harmful cultural patterns passed down through generations, with special attention to parents who refuse to perpetuate trauma.* Third Factor as Evolutionary Avatar: Reframing third factor individuals as harbingers of consciousness and relational evolution, essential for species survival.* Courage and Authenticity: The vital role of bravery in expressing our authentic selves and challenging the status quo, even in seemingly small interpersonal moments.Connect with Richard Edelman:* Richard's website: livingartswisdom.com* Email: richard@livingartswisdom.comResources Mentioned:* Dan Siegel's work on interpersonal neurobiology* Iain McGilchrist's book "The Master and His Emissary"* Internal Family Systems (IFS)* Climate Psychology Alliance* Enactivism and Francisco Varela* Britt Wray's Unthinkable (the book: Generation Dread)* The Third Factor (Dabrowski Center website)This episode offers a powerful reframe of the theory of positive disintegration, showing how individual transformation is intimately connected to the larger evolutionary challenges facing humanity. Richard's synthesis of multiple frameworks provides both theoretical depth and practical pathways for those seeking to navigate—and actively participate in shaping—our current polycrisis toward positive transformation.Connect with us* Positive Disintegration on Substack* Visit the Dabrowski Center website* Facebook* Instagram* The Positive Disintegration YouTube Channel* Adults with Overexcitabilities group on Facebook* The Tragic Gift blog by Emma* Email us at positivedisintegration.pod@gmail.com* Please consider donating to the Dabrowski Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.* Find Positive Disintegration MerchIf you enjoyed this episode on Apple or Spotify, please remember to click on the stars and leave a rating or write a review. It was unspeakable. Unthinkable. In 1927, a school board member set off a series of explosions that killed 38 children, 6 adults, and injured at least 58 others. That act of domestic terrorism became known as the Bath School disaster. It rocked the small farming community of Bath Township, Michigan, and left people wondering how a seemingly “normal” man like Andrew Kehoe could have done something so terrible.
