A horrendously abused wife, Gwendolyn Moore, is found at the bottom of an old well in 1970. The investigation deliberately went nowhere, for 32 years. Pt 2 tells the story, begun in 2003, with a chance phone call that brought the case to the attention of Investigator Clay Moore, who not only recalled the case; he watched her body being recovered that terrible day, as a teenager Delving in, Clay would go to extremes to get the evidence to charge her killer, a chance to set the record right. Just days afterward, a chance meeting with mechanic Tim Wilkerson turns the tides of investigation once more. Tim tells Clay his Dad, Fred Wilkerson, is missing- for the last 17 years. Suspicions abound, but the evidence lead nowhere and the case went cold. Could Clay Bryant do it again, and find Fred Wilkerson? On this episode of the NHRA Insider Podcast, Tony Schumacher and Bob Tasca III join host Brian Lohnes to talk about off-season moves, upcoming testing, and the reasons why both think they are in a position to succeed during the 2023 season. For Tony Schumacher, 2022 was not a return year that was arranged in a relatively hasty fashion. It's easy to hear in his words and tone that the Seattle winning team wasn't exactly firing on all eight cylinders all year long, nor were they in a luxurious position with their equipment. With the addition of Mike Neff and John Shafer as the leaders of the team, new crew members throughout, and a load of fresh parts, the SCAG Power Equipment top fuel dragster is ready to roll. The two also chat about the addition of Tim Wilkerson to the JCM team. A fun chat. Bob Tasca has grouped Aaron Brooks and Todd Okuhara together to lead his Motorcraft Ford Mustang team in 2023. He's also added new people to the crew and the team has some really lofty goals for the season. A strong running car in the summer, Tasca and crew need to pick up the pace in the Spring and Fall to really be championship contenders. This is a great show with lots of insider stories you'll only get here!
A rare three-guest show this week on the NHRA Insider. Tim Wilkerson, Justin Ashley, and Camrie Caruso are all guests talking about their plans, news, and prep for 2023. The show begins with host Brian Lohnes getting everyone up to speed on the latest NHRA news and info and rolls into a great conversation with Tim Wilkerson on his new partnership with Maynard Family Racing and SCAG teammate Tony Schumacher. This is truly a new chapter in his career, and he tells all. Justin Ashley talks about preparing for the season with testing, what Top Fuel will look like in 2023, and why his team is primed for another championship contenting run over the year. Finally, Camrie Caruso talks about being a part of KB Racing, how her whole outlook has changed with this move, how her job changes on the team, and why working in drag racing outside of the car has been great for her career. Lohnes and Caruso talk about her tough 2022 Countdown, what she learned, and how she'll approach it in 2023. A great show with three NHRA stars!

Bob Wilber is from a large family where sports and baseball ruled the roost. Fortunate enough to have the guidance of his Major League Baseball playing father, loving mother and supportive/competitive siblings, Bob has lived a life full of adventure and love. After earning his degree in TV/Radio Broadcasting from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, where he also played four years of baseball for a team that competed in two NCAA Division II World Series championships, Bob Wilber was signed to a free agent contract by the Detroit Tigers in 1978. He played parts of two seasons of minor league baseball with the Tigers, followed by a single season with an Oakland A’s farm club, before joining the Toronto Blue Jays as a Scouting Supervisor and Minor League Coach. After four years with the Blue Jays, he entered the sports marketing arena, initially in the sports apparel business with Converse Shoes, and then joined his brother Del at Del Wilber + Associates, managing major sponsorships for IBM, Chrysler, Black & Decker, and other corporate clients, while also developing new sponsorships for USA Baseball, US Rowing, and the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). He was named Vice President of the St. Louis Storm franchise in the MISL in 1989, and later was General Manager of the Kansas City Attack indoor soccer club. He entered the racing world when he was selected to be the General Manager at Heartland Park, a multi-purpose racing facility in Topeka, Kansas, and soon found his way into management roles at the team level. From 1997 to 2008 he was the Team Manager for Funny Car driver Del Worsham and since 2009 has held the same position for Tim Wilkerson. Bob handles the team’s management needs and liaison with sponsors and he also represents the organization in terms of both public and media relations. As part of his PR duties, he has written a popular blog at NHRA.com for the last six years. With nearly 10,000 regular readers around the world, it is regarded as the most widely followed blog in the sport of professional drag racing.

Bam! Comical Radio abruptly assaults the airwaves with no time to warm up. Why? Let's say technical difficulties and red tape as far as the eye can see. But hey, when something goes wrong, improvise. Improvising was a recurring theme on today's show which started with Upright Citizen Brigade's very own founding member, Matt Besser. Matt discussed studying improv under the late, great Del Close and how Steve Martin and Andy Kaufman. Still more was discussed concerning Besser's cut of UCB, reparations for Amy Poehler's success and Danny's futile attempts to pick up UCB classes where he left off... 6 years ago. Oh and parties, my god, the parties. Passing out at one of these shindigs can be neatly improvised as simply falling asleep. In all, it was probably the worst Besser interview of all time. We at comical radio are always striving for the record books. Next up was a fistful of awkward via telephone with the gentlemen of Magic Hugs (Scott Blair and Tim Wilkerson.) Outside the hilarious video this duo produces let's just say common interests were sorely lacking. But hey, that makes for some good radio. Completing the UCB double-dip was Chris Hines, the veteran imrpov instructer at UCB theater. Once again Danny tries to bargain his way back into UCB Theater to no avail, but there's no harm in trying. Maybe because he's a dastardly stand-up comic who has no right to ride the coattails of fine improvisational actors. Kasten might have a shot, though, with his best pedophiliscious Santa Claus. Live in the studio was up and coming music act, Swear and Shake. These serenading sweethearts warmed the studio with their folk-pop prowess, despite Kasten's Simon Cowell-esque disposition. Lastly was a phone call from Steve Rannazzisi of FX's "The League." Unfortunately, due to time constraints the interview was shorter than his tongue-twisting last name. Steve still had time to assure us the listeners that The League is not as much for football fans as it for those who just really hate their friends. But when your friends are A-Holes, just improvise.
