Ragazzi col coltello in tasca - di Maria Piera Ceci

Reportage

In Food, Heresies, and Magical Boundaries in the Middle Ages (Amsterdam UP, 2024) by Dr. Andrea Maraschi & Dr. Francesca Tasca, readers will find stories about medieval heresies and “magic” from an unusual perspective: that of food studies. The time span ranges from Late Antiquity to the Late Middle Ages, while the geographical scope includes regions as different as North Africa, Spain, Ireland, continental Europe, the Holy land, and Central Asia. Food, heresies, and magical boundaries in the Middle Ages explores the power of food in creating and breaking down boundaries between different groups, or in establishing a contact with other worlds, be they the occult sides of nature, or the supernatural. The book emphasizes the role of food in crafting and carrying identity, and in transferring virtues and powers of natural elements into the eater's body. Which foods and drinks made someone a heretic? Could they be purified? Which food offerings forged a connection with the otherworld? Which recipes allowed gaining access to the hidden powers within nature? This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Welcome to episode 1431, another episode of “On The Road Edition”, hosted by Stevie Kim. In this episode Stevie sits down with Alberto Tasca of Tasca D'almerita winery in Montefalco. More about today's guest: Eight generations of Sicilian winemaking history. Alberto Tasca d'Almerita , born in 1971, is the CEO of Tasca d'Almerita . Dynamic winegrower, father of 3 children and married to Francesca Borghese, he divides his time between the vineyards on the hills and those on Etna and on the small islands of Sicily, in search of always different territorial expressions to enhance and tell. Driven by his great love for Sicily and the need to protect the land where he lives and works, in 2010 Alberto embraced a new project, SOStain – Sustainability in Sicilian viticulture, a protocol recognized by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, which has become the compass in Sicily for all winemakers looking to measure and reduce their impact on the ecosystem. Since 2020 he has been President of the SOStain Sicilia Foundation, which has the task of promoting sustainable viticulture in Sicily, to encourage the sharing of good practices aimed at respecting the ecosystem. Convinced that the road must be traveled together, to make the strength of Sicilian enology ever greater in the world, he decided to join the directorate of the Consorzio Sicilia Doc and of Assovini Sicilia. He is also Vice President of the Istituto del Vino Italiano di Qualità , Grandi Marchi , a reality that promotes the culture and quality of Italian wines. On this episode of the NHRA Insider Podcast, Tony Schumacher and Bob Tasca III join host Brian Lohnes to talk about off-season moves, upcoming testing, and the reasons why both think they are in a position to succeed during the 2023 season.    For Tony Schumacher, 2022 was not a return year that was arranged in a relatively hasty fashion. It's easy to hear in his words and tone that the Seattle winning team wasn't exactly firing on all eight cylinders all year long, nor were they in a luxurious position with their equipment. With the addition of Mike Neff and John Shafer as the leaders of the team, new crew members throughout, and a load of fresh parts, the SCAG Power Equipment top fuel dragster is ready to roll. The two also chat about the addition of Tim Wilkerson to the JCM team. A fun chat.    Bob Tasca has grouped Aaron Brooks and Todd Okuhara together to lead his Motorcraft Ford Mustang team in 2023. He's also added new people to the crew and the team has some really lofty goals for the season. A strong running car in the summer, Tasca and crew need to pick up the pace in the Spring and Fall to really be championship contenders.    This is a great show with lots of insider stories you'll only get here!
