Today's Uncertainties Call for a Deepening Personal Relationship with God Through Prayer, Fasting, and Listening MESSAGE SUMMARY: There are times when you need clarity, understanding, knowledge, and insights from the Lord about the specific issues that you are facing. The Lord will speak to you, but sometimes it takes your listening and fasting to hear Him. For example, when Joel received a Word when the land was to be destroyed, he called a fast (i.e. Joel 1:14): “Consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.”. Some things you are facing in your life must be dealt with by both prayer and fasting. Fasting releases a spiritual power – in your weakness, God is made strong in your life. Daniel's prayer, from Daniel 9:3-5, provides a context for asking direction from God: “Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the LORD my God and made confession, saying, ‘O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules.'". After Jesus responded to the Apostles request of “teach us to pray” by providing the “Lord's Prayer”, Jesus instructed the Apostles and us, in Matthew 6:17-18, how to fast: “But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.". Our fasting will be rewarded as a deepening link to God in our personal relationship with Him. TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, I confess that when difficulties and trials come into my life, large or small, I mostly grumble and complain. I realize the trials James talks about are not necessarily “walls,” but they are difficult to bear, nonetheless. Fill me with such a vision of a transformed life, O God, that I might actually consider it “pure joy” when you bring trials my way. I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 94). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Lust. Rather, I will abide in the Lord's Perfect Provision. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Joel 1:13-16; Matthew 6:16; Daniel 9:3-7; Psalms 114:1-8. Are you relying on intensity rather than consistency in your walk with God? In this message, Pastor Clay NeSmith challenges us to keep the spiritual flame burning through consistent prayer and immediate obedience.Drawing from the story of the persistent widow in Luke 18, Pastor Clay explains why Jesus wants us to pray always and never give up. Just as physical therapy strengthens the body, consistent conversation with God strengthens our faith. It's time to discover your assignment, stop "sitting on your duff," and let the all-consuming fire of God work through you to change the world.
In Mark 9, we see a glimpse of God's glory, the importance of faith, and the constant need to be in the Word to stay on the right path. Look for additional resources, including PDFs for discussion and additional study, on Amberalbeeswenson.org.

Prayer & Fasting 2026 Sermon Series
"I come from a culture where either you cast the devil out, or he casts you out," Brother Singh states. In a world that explains everything in physical and psychological terms, Scripture reminds us that many battles are spiritual at their core. Drawing from Brother Singh's frontline ministry experience, this message confronts the reality of demonic opposition and the authority Christ has given His church. Prayer and fasting are not optional disciplines—they are essential weapons. This episode explores why some victories only come when believers are willing to seek God deeply, stand fully armed, and confront the unseen realm with faith and obedience.
In this first Vision sermon of the First Fruits series, we are reminded why we exist, where God is leading us, and why we are fasting. As culture shifts into a post-Christian, deeply lonely age, Jesus is inviting us into a renewed focus on creating disciples—not primarily through programs or preaching alone, but through relational proximity.

In a world where distraction has become normal, clarity has become rare.In Week One of our new series Airplane Mode, Pastor Chris Hoyt invites us to slow down and intentionally create space to hear God. This message reframes prayer and fasting not as religious pressure or spiritual performance, but as ancient practices that wake us up to how close God already is.You'll discover:Why prayer is less about talking and more about listeningHow Jesus modeled attentiveness through withdrawal, not burnoutWhy fasting is about space, not punishmentHow the wilderness produces clarity, not weaknessWhat it looks like to practice presence in a distracted worldAs Journey Church begins a 21-day season of prayer and fasting, this message sets the foundation for a year shaped by attentiveness, intimacy, and clarity.God is not far. He's already here.www.thejourneychurch.cc

This message kicks off the year by calling us to put God first through prayer and fasting and to realign our hearts with Him. It reminds us that what we do in the physical impacts the spiritual and invites us to seek God with focus and expectation. Watch, subscribe, and comment.
Prayer & Fasting 2026 Sermon Series
As we enter a new year, consider making your primary resolution to continually seek Jesus in everything you do. Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline that Jesus expects from His followers, not as an optional practice but as a regular part of discipleship. The biblical principle is simple: deny your body to feed your soul by abstaining from food while dedicating that time to prayer and seeking God. Fasting creates breakthrough in areas where we feel spiritually stuck, provides protection from spiritual strongholds, and opens our hearts to receive God's vision and direction. Start small with one meal and use that time intentionally for prayer and connection with God.

Onward is a New Year message series focused on moving forward in spiritual strength and purpose! These core disciplines dont just anchor usthey propel us toward the future God is calling us into. Together, well learn how to take intentional steps that lead to spiritual growth, resilience, and renewal!
In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl continues the series The King Has Come with a raw and life-giving exploration of the second great gift Jesus brings: peace.Turning to the familiar yet profound scene in Luke 2:8–20, Pastor Karl invites us into the midnight terror of ordinary shepherds—suddenly confronted by the blinding glory of God—and shows how the very first words from heaven that night were not “Merry Christmas,” but “Fear not.” That first Christmas did not begin with sentimental calm; it began with paralyzing, mega-fear. And right there, in the middle of stacked-on-stacked fear, the angel announced good news of great joy: a Savior has been born who is Christ the Lord, the Prince of Peace. With pastoral tenderness and unflinching honesty, Pastor Karl unmasks fear as the mortal enemy of peace—how it magnifies threats, shrinks our view of God, and paints our future in colors darker than God ever intended. Yet the gospel is stronger: peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a Person. Peace is not something Jesus gives; peace is who Jesus is—and He gives Himself.Through the shepherds' journey from terror to testimony, we're given clear, scriptural paths out of fear and into the unshakable peace of Christ: speaking God's truth over fear's lies, refusing to agree with the spirit of fear, drawing near to Jesus through spiritual disciplines, and taking bold steps of obedience that move us against comfort and toward surrender. This is a word for everyone whose heart has been ruled by anxiety, worst-case scenarios, or the quiet fears that steal joy—especially in this season. A tender yet urgent call to stop trusting the unknown future to our own control and start trusting it to the known God who entered our fear as a baby in a manger.Because the King has come, fear does not get the final word. Peace does. And when the Prince of Peace takes over a life, what spills out is no longer fear—but praise, testimony, and unshakable confidence in the goodness of God.Essential listening for anyone who longs to trade fear for the peace that passes all understanding this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

In this Episode, Jessie shares from Revelation 3:16-22 about prayer, fasting, and fighting lukewarmness in our lives. We talk about ways we can recognize and combat complacency in our walks with God. Jessie also teaches about how comfortability can lead us into being sleepy spiritually and how fasting can help to stir up our hearts with God.
