Episode 43 took a while because I switched jobs and I was either too busy or too lazy to edit it. We actually recorded in the beginning of September 2024. Then I tried to upload in October but archive.org was still down. So this is coming out in November. Anyway, both scores we play are classics in their own way I guess. So on the film side we've got Michael Giacchino's score to the 2009 J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie which is also referred to (by me) as Star Trek 11. On the other side the Kaptain brings the score to the 1991 SNES Konami game TMNT IV: Turtles in Time by Mutsuhiko Izumi, Harumi Ueko and Kazuhiko Uehara. If you want to support us you can always write a comment here or on Instagram which would be highly appreciated. If you're interested in a more relaxed podcast about mostly (city-) building game soundtracks for the PC (think Anno, Settlers, Tycoons from the 90's and onwards) then check out Aufbaumusik. Enjoy this episode and please give us feedback! Did you see that we're on Instagram now? Follow us there via this link or find it on our landing page. We're cool now. Tell your friends. Also: here is the link to our Mastodon. PS: Maybe the upload won't work due to the archive.org hack. In this case I'll try again later. Sorry for any delays and disappointments this may cause. I know for sure that some of you can't wait to get the new episode. OK. Who am I kidding.

For quite some time, a vocal portion of our audience has asked me to weigh in on speed running. If you don't know what 'speed running' is, it's when players attempt to finish a game as fast as humanly possible. And admittedly, I don't know that much about it. So I found someone who does. My special guest this week is the one and only, Summoning Salt! Summoning Salt is a Youtuber that creates phenomenal documentary style videos about speed running. He takes individual games, breaks down the history of the speed run world record for said particular game, and does a great explaining not only what the record is and who holds it, but how they got there. Tricks, tips, strategies. I went into his videos knowing NOTHING about speed running, and I've learned a ton from watching his youtube channel. And in addition to his channel, Summoning Salt is a speed runner himself. He holds several world records right now, with his area of expertise being Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! from the NES. One of his records is the fastest ever TKO of Tyson himself, clocking in at an INSANE 2:00:97!!!! We had a great chat about the hobby itself, advice for new speed runners, Salt's records, how he got into making videos, the speed running community as a whole, and more. It was a real pleasure talking with him, and I hope you enjoy the episode. You can find Summoning Salt here: Youtube Channel - Youtube.com/SummoningSalt Twitter - @SummoningSalt And as always, before we talk speed running, it's another Remember The Game Infamous Intro! This week, we talk about TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, where I see 'Remember The Game?' in five years, gaming fatigue, and someone asks which Super Mario game they should play first. Plus, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One'. This time, it's the TMNT edition, featuring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES), TMNT IV: Turtles in Time, and TMNT: Tournament Fighters! **If you're interested in tickets to my online comedy show on March 20th, you can find them at Eventbrite.com!** And if you want to skip to something specific, here's where to go: 0:00 - Intro 5:17 - Initial self-indulgent rambling & 'Expansion Pass #50: Ranking My Favourite SNES Games' Clip 13:55 - 'Blowing In The Cartridge' (Listener comments & questions) 29:30 - 'Play One. Cowabunga dudes! It's pizza time! Let's kick shell! Engage! You know what all of those silly phrases means; we're talking about the Ninja Turtles. Specifically, we're talking about the really great turtle game TMNT IV: Turtles in Time. It's amazing, and you should stop whatever you're doing right now and play it. We also dive into Rampart, which is pretty great. At least it's probably great on systems that have a trackball or mouse. On the SNES, it ain't great. We also play Super Play Action Football which is more football, and Monopoly which is pretty much what it says on the tin. But hey, at least Monopoly is more justified on the SNES than Clue. And we debut our new show within a show, "Talkin' Trek". Give it a listen, will you?
It's Halloween! So this week the boys are up to no good playing Beta test after beta test with Vertabreaker, Starbuster and Skybolt Zack in early adopters. We then discuss the Blizzard leaks, as well as EA and Ubisoft news. We get spooky with Devil Daggers and then go retro with Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Turtles in Time in the backlog blog. Finally we close out the show with a listener email and a SPOOOOKKY Indie or Outdie. Quick reminder! What a jam packed episode! Extra life is coming up, and we’ll be doing a 24 hour stream on November 16th! Be sure to keep an eye out for more details in the coming weeks on how you can help support our campaign and the cause, as well as see what kind of shenanigans we’ll get into.
