Cloverfield is a 2008 American found footage science fiction horror film directed by Matt Reeves and written by Drew Goddard and produced by JJ Abrams. It stars Lizzy Caplan, Jessica Lucas, T.J. Spider-Man: Brand New Day Editors – Nat Sanders, ACE; Harry Yoon, ACE and Gina Sansom Spider-Man: Brand New Day editors Nat Sanders, ACE, Harry Yoon, ACE and Gina Sansom join The Rough Cut to discuss helping director Destin Daniel Cretton take Peter Parker into a deeper, more grounded chapter of his story. Nat and Gina began the film together during production, with Harry joining them for the director's cut, bringing together three editors who had each previously collaborated with Destin on projects ranging from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to Wonder Man. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day finds Peter Parker (Tom Holland) fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that no longer remembers him. As Peter watches MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) continue their lives without him, the pressure of his isolation begins to trigger a transformation he may not be able to control. Today's program is a special one. This is the first interview that I've conducted since way back in 2000, when I interviewed Michael Giacchino during the MEDAL OF HONOR: UNDERGROUND recording sessions in Seattle. Maybe one day I'll unearth that interview for you all. Back on September 25th of this year, I sat down with CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO's own Jason Drury, who will be releasing his 50th episode of THE ARCHIVE on this podcast soon. Jason was visiting Robert Daniels and me once more, and during one of his last evenings here, he made his way to the CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO studios to have a chat about his lifelong fascination with film music, which began at an early age with his discovery of the music of Barry Grey, John Williams and James Horner, among others. We also chatted about turning his passion into broadcasting, first on the internet radio station KASPAAR in his home of Kent, England, and then joining CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO, where he completed his magnum opus, a three-part documentary on James Horner. Afterwards, Jason created two new podcast series for CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO, called THE ARCHIVE and TALKING SOUNDTRACKS. Since 2021, Jason has expanded his influence as a writer and interviewer for FILM SCORE MONTHLY, engaging with many of today's leading composers. Well they can't all be winners, folks. I'm not talking about the movie. The Fantastic Four: First Steps was actually pretty great. It's the second MCU film in a row that we here at Gobbledygeek HQ agree on almost entirely, and you'll hear us say lots of nice things about it. No, the non-winner I'm referring to is this episode, because you'll actually only hear SOME nice things about it. We were plagued by audio and editing issues like they were a troupe of almost-entirely-cut-from-the-final-film Super Apes stealing every third word any of us said.   Anyway, enjoy I guess.   NEXT: a speeding bullet to the box office, or another derailed cinematic locomotive? First "Superman" from DC/Warner Brothers and now for today's episode we see how Marvel/Disney with "Fantastic Four: First Steps" has done an about face and put a "fantastic" crowd-pleaser of movie to die-hard comic-fans and popcorn moviegoers alike.For today's episode our friend of the podcast, Ali-Reza Beheshti, returns and we both get into how this movie completely surprised us. A beautifully shot, wonderfully paced, thrill ride of a movie. There was a part that was a little bit of a "stretch" but the movie still was so much fun that you can almost completely let this detail go. Almost. Michael Giacchino returns as Marvel's go-to Composer but here he really crafts something epic and unique on par with John Williams music from classics such as Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park.This one must be seen in the theaters. It will make you a believer in comic-book movies again. There is still life in this category of movies.
