ORD. - ANNO C (Lc 14,25-33) di Giacomo Biffi Con questa pagina evangelica - che con qualche sua espressione può anche urtare la nostra sensibilità, e in ogni caso arriva a scuotere lo spirito dalla sua mediocrità - il Signore Gesù ci ricorda energicamente quali debbano essere le condizioni interiori di chi si pone al suo seguito e vuol diventare suo discepolo.Ci sono come due gradi nella sequela di Cristo: il primo è proprio di tutti i battezzati, di tutti i "cristiani", di tutti coloro insomma che vogliono fare del vangelo la norma e l'ispirazione di tutta l'esistenza; il secondo è proprio di coloro che si pongono volontariamente al servizio di una missione particolare che ricevono dal Signore, come è il caso degli apostoli. Ciascuno si deve collocare - sempre con generosità e coerenza - sulla strada che Dio ha voluto per lui. Ciascuno deve tendere alla perfezione e deve fiorire nella santità dove il Signore ha voluto piantarlo. Anche le condizioni della sequela di Cristo, sulle quali il Vangelo di oggi ci invita a riflettere, riguardano tutti noi, quale che sia il nostro stato di vita, pur se dobbiamo riconoscere che queste condizioni valgono più o meno intensamente e urgentemente a seconda dell'impegno che ciascuno liberamente si è preso.;IL DOVERE DI SUBORDINARE OGNI AFFETTO UMANO ALL'AMORE DI CRISTO1. La prima condizione della sequela di Cristo è quella dell'amore: un amore per Gesù che non tema confronti. Il testo dice addirittura: Chi non odia...; parola dura, ma che nel significato del linguaggio semitico vuol solo dire: "Chi preferisce..., chi pone davanti...".Certo, il Signore Gesù non è disumano e non ci proibisce d'amare; non ci proibisce di nutrire affetto per coloro che il sangue o l'amicizia o le circostanze della vita ci hanno collocato vicino; non ci proibisce di contrarre dei forti legami, che insieme sono fonte di grande dolcezza e di grande sofferenza, perché chi più ama più è chiamato a soffrire.Non ci proibisce d'amare, ma vuole che l'amore per lui sia al di sopra di tutto, sia il più grande, il più tenace, il più appassionato. Proprio per questa preminenza dell'amore di Cristo, il vero discepolo di Cristo conserva una grande libertà interiore che, senza essere freddezza o indifferenza o aridità di cuore, gli consente di affrontare i distacchi, le separazioni, perfino le morti delle persone care, con grande pena ma anche con grande serenità.LA NECESSITÀ DELLA CROCE PER ESSERE RINNOVATI2. La seconda condizione della sequela di Cristo è la croce: Chi non porta la sua croce... non può essere mio discepolo.La sofferenza di norma non va ricercata, perché noi siamo fatti per la gioia. Ma quando arriva - e arriva sempre o presto o tardi - va accolta senza ribellioni, perché noi siamo e vogliamo essere discepoli di uno che, pur non avendo il più piccolo torto, è stato crocifisso.Per volontà misteriosa e sapiente del Padre, Gesù non ha potuto rinnovarci senza crocifissione, e noi senza crocifissione non possiamo essere rinnovati.Nessun discepolo di Gesù si illuda che ci sia un'altra strada per cambiare il mondo e salvarlo, per cambiare se stesso e salvarsi.L'INVITO AD UN CRISTIANESIMO SERIO E RESPONSABILE3. La terza condizione è quella della prudenza, cioè della capacità di commisurare le nostre forze coi nostri impegni, e di valutare ogni decisione e ogni atto in tutte le sue conseguenze. E per farci capire la necessità della prudenza nella vita dello spirito, Gesù racconta due parabole prese dalla vita terrena: quella del costruttore, che se non sa far bene il preventivo finanziario rischia il fallimento della sua impresa; e quella del condottiero di eserciti, che se non calcola bene le sue forze e quelle del nemico rischia la sconfitta.Fuori dell'immagine, l'insegnamento è questo. Il Signore non vuole al suo servizio degli irresoluti, della gente incapace di decidere e di impegnare la vita (non una stagione o un anno, ma la vita intera); ma non vuole neppure degli sventati, degli imprudenti, della gente che con la scusa dell'ispirazione divina o del suo carisma o della sua luce interiore si ritiene dispensata dal riflettere su quello che fa e su quello che può fare, dall'esaminare bene gli effetti su di sé e sugli altri di quanto intraprende, dall'ascoltare il magistero della Chiesa o il parere di un confessore saggio e illuminato. E così finisce col commetteredelle pazzie, magari mettendole in conto allo Spirito santo, e col far del male, magari in buona fede, a sé e ai fratelli.Il Signore conceda un po' di buon senso a tutti, ma specialmente alle persone devote.LA NOSTRA PREGHIERAPossiamo ormai concludere la nostra rapida meditazione.Ci siamo messi tutti al servizio di un padrone esigente e buono; esigente perché vuol portarci in alto, buono perché ci prende come siamo e ci aiuta. Pretende molto da noi, ma è disposto a darci lui con la sua grazia quello che pretende. Purché ci affidiamo a lui e lo lasciamo fare. Purché gli chiediamo umilmente nella preghiera quello che per noi è così difficile avere: un amore per lui senza limiti, una vera capacità di portare la nostra croce, un po' di concreta saggezza.

Während sich die Spielewelt bereits auf Anno 117 und das römische Kaiserreich freut, reist OK COOL in die Zeit zurück und gleichzeitig in die Zukunft, um eines der kuriosesten Spiele der Anno-Reihe endlich nachzuholen: Anno 2070, das in der näheren Zukunft spielt und 2011 erschien. Damals mäanderte der Titel zwischen 90er-Wertungen und scharfer Kritik gegen die Always-Online-Vorgabe - wer offline spielte, konnte auf wesentliche Features des Spiels nicht zugreifen. Wieso kam Ubisoft damals nur auf diese Idee? Gut, dass ihr fragt! Denn gemeinsam mit Dom reist außerdem Stefan Sewenig zurück in die Zeit, der heute als Lehrer arbeitet, damals aber als Junior Game Designer an Anno 2070 mitwirken konnte. In diesem Vorgeplänkel stimmt sich das Duo also nicht nur auf das Aufbauspiel selbst ein, sondern blickt auch hinter die Kulissen des Entwicklergiganten Ubisoft in den frühen 2010er Jahren.

In the new game Anno 117: Pax Romana, the Emperor has appointed you as governor, tasked with developing provinces in the Roman-based Latium region and Celtic-inspired Albion. The game is set in a big year for Rome: it marked the moment the Roman Empire expanded the furthest in all its history, and saw the death of Trajan, who is counted amongst the Five Good Emperors. As the video game's title indicates, this era was known as the “Pax Romana”: the “Roman Peace”. But what does that mean? Was this really a peaceful period in history? Full Text of ReadingsSeventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Lectionary: 111The Saint of the day is Saint Titus BrandsmaSaint Titus Brandsma's Story Given the birth name Anno, Brandsma and his siblings grew up on their parents' dairy farm in rural Frisia. As devout Catholics, the family was in the minority among their Calvinist neighbors. From age 11 Anno was educated at a preparatory school for boys who were studying for the priesthood. He joined the Carmelite novitiate in 1898, taking the name Titus in honor of his father. In the years following his 1905 ordination, Brandsma received a doctorate in philosophy and initiated a project to translate the works of Saint Teresa of Avila into Dutch. One of the founders of the Catholic University of Nijmegen, he served as a professor of philosophy and the history of mysticism at the school. While there Brandsma was known more for his availability to faculty and students than for his academic achievements. Working as a journalist Brandsma served as ecclesiastical advisor to Catholic journalists. His long-standing opposition to Nazi ideology came to the attention of the Nazis when they invaded the Netherlands in 1940. In direct opposition to the Third Reich, the Conference of Dutch Bishops sent a letter ordering Catholic newspaper editors not to print Nazi propaganda. Fr. Brandsma was arrested while hand delivering the letter in January 1942. After being imprisoned in several other facilities, in June he was taken to the Dachau camp in Germany. During his brief time at Dachau Fr. Brandsma was well-known for his kindness and spiritual support of other prisoners. His death on July 26, 1942 was a result of the Reich's program of medical experimentation on prisoners. He gave a wooden rosary to the nurse who administered the fatal injection; she later became Catholic and testified to his holiness. In recent years Brandsma has been honored by both the cities of Nijmegen and Dachau. Titus Brandsma was beatified in 1985, and canonized in 2022. Reflection Conscience often creates martyrs. That was the case for Titus Brandsma. Many people “go along to get along,” not realizing that by doing so they are destroying themselves internally.
