There comes a time in every gamer's life when they have to reconcile that their favorite IP is immutably changed for the worse and it'll never be able to return to the pinnacle of greatness it once held in the social zeitgeist of the gaming world. This is true for Sonic, Metal Gear Solid, Need for Speed (who are we kidding NFS was probably never great) and now most importantly Halo.In this episode, Will and I provide a full review of the Halo Infinite Co-Op campaign and are ready to share the good, the bad and the ugly - and let me tell you there's a whole lot of of the latter. WARNING: We're not discussing the multiplayer other than to say we enjoyed our time in 2021. Will and I are ready to let go of Master Chief and let him ride off into the sunset. And in this ep we'll share how you can do that too.Time Stamps:0:00 - Intro04:02 - Whatcha Playin17:38 - Halo Infinite Review (spoiler free)01:47:48 - Spoiler Wall 02:23:22 - OutroMusic used in this episode:Zeta Halo, The Road, Know my Legend, Never Tell Me the Odds composed by: Gareth Coker, Curtis Schweitzer and Joel Corelitz Support the show

In this episode of "Normal World," Dave Landau, 1/4 Black Garrett, and Angela kick things off with a jaw-dropping news story about a 70-year-old grandmother entering adult entertainment before turning to politics as the NAACP endorses Democrat Abigail Spanberger over Republican Winsome Sears in the Virginia governor's race. The hosts mock the bizarre logic behind the move and the media's reaction before shifting into Halloween mode and a round of quickfire cultural commentary. They unpack Don Lemon's dig at Megyn Kelly, debate new Gen Z slang, and question why modern language feels like a secret code. The conversation heats up with Ben Stiller's endorsement drama and a sharp exchange on celebrity guilt, Hollywood hypocrisy, and the state of modern comedy. Later, the crew reacts to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's jab at Riley Gaines, diving into the absurdity of gender and competition in women's sports. The show then takes a wild turn into pop culture as the team breaks down the White House's Halo-inspired ad campaign and Elon Musk's launch of “Grokipedia,” an AI twist on rewriting the internet's narrative. The night ends on a Halloween high note with a live musical performance and a reminder that Normal World always ends in style. it looks like the console wars really are officially over, as Halo will be launching on PlayStation in 2026. But, this news is somewhat tainted when you take into account all the confusing moves Xbox has been making recently. Plus John Williams comes out of retirement, the cast of the new Miami Vice is stacking up nicely, and reviews of Pokemon Legend's Z-A, Jurassic World Evolution 3 and Good Fortune.
A big announcement was expected during the HALO Championship Series, and it certainly delivered, as one of the worst-kept secrets in gaming finally became real: the HALO Combat Evolved remake has evolved into HALO Campaign Evolved. Where all of the story levels are remade in Unreal Engine, a new set of prequel levels is added with Sgt Johnson and Master Chief, and it is also coming to PlayStation 5. Set to make its series debut on the console at some point in 2026. Does Sean feel anything for this? Also, Sarah Bond echoes the sentiments of console exclusives being old hat, but Sony and Nintendo would beg to differ, as they continue to pump them out for their consoles. But will it really make a difference for the "Premium" console/hybrid that Microsoft is planning as the next and perhaps final "Xbox"? Marc certainly has some thoughts here. Plus, Marc has been playing PowerWash Simulator 2 and Wreckreation, Sean has spent more time in Ivalice with Final Fantasy Tactics. Shawn Layden says Free-to-Play are "not real" games. Pokemon Legends Z-A sells big, Madden has a new exclusivity deal with the NFL, a pair of indies do well, and Ubisoft layoffs begin.
On this Geek Freaks Headlines, we break down today's Halo news: a full remake of the original Halo campaign called Halo: Campaign Evolved built in Unreal Engine 5 with 4K visuals, refreshed audio, and returning cast re-recording lines. For the first time, Halo is coming to PlayStation alongside Xbox and PC. The remake adds three new prequel missions, nine series weapons like the Energy Sword and Battle Rifle, modern mechanics such as vehicle hijacking and Skulls, and a big emphasis on four-player co-op with split-screen and cross-play. There's no competitive multiplayer here, and we talk through why that choice probably makes sense for a UE5 transition and a multi-platform launch. 00:00 The announcement and what “Campaign Evolved” actually is00:18 Platforms and engine shift to UE500:33 Visual and audio overhaul with returning cast00:58 New prequel missions and added weapons01:15 Modern mechanics in a classic campaign01:29 Co-op focus, split-screen, cross-play, and the “golf cart” Warthog seat01:45 No competitive multiplayer and why that might be02:00 Read on the strategy: learning UE5 and shipping on PS502:16 Nostalgia hit and why this remake still lands for longtime fansThis is a ground-up remake of the 2001 campaign, not a visual toggle remaster.Launching on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation marks a major shift for Halo's future.Three new prequel missions connect Master Chief and Sgt. About Our Guest — Courtney A. Barber Courtney A. Barber is a retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer, motivational speaker, three-time published author, and certified life purpose coach with over 25 years of military leadership experience. A Fayetteville, North Carolina native, Courtney is the founder of Sapphire Veteran HR, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women veterans in Hampton Roads transition from service to civilian life with confidence and community. After a decorated Navy career, Courtney transformed her journey of adversity, faith, and resilience into a personal mission to empower others through her brand, Unapologetically Favored—a movement and mindset that encourages people to walk boldly in their truth. She has authored multiple books including Unapologetically Favored, Wake Up. Turn Up. Bless Up., and Never Be Afraid to Eat Alone, each blending leadership, spirituality, and personal growth. In December 2023, she served as part of the MyNavy Coaching Team, leading a five-day Coaching Master Course in San Diego to develop the next generation of Navy leaders. Today, Courtney continues to mentor, teach, and inspire through her speaking engagements, coaching programs, and advocacy for authenticity, representation, and emotional intelligence in leadership. Learn more about her work at UnapologeticallyFavored.net or follow her on social media at @unapologeticallyfavored. About This Episode: In this episode, Damo and Aaron sit down with retired Master Chief and author Courtney Barber—North Carolina native and writer of Unapologetically Favored—for a raw, funny, and deeply human conversation about faith, identity, leadership, and redemption inside the U.S. Navy. The guys open with barbershop energy, debating Dave Chappelle vs. Eddie Murphy, fresh off Damo catching Chappelle live, before pivoting into Courtney's early life in the South, her family dynamics, and how her upbringing shaped the way she learned to love, trust, and lead. She opens up about her father figures, teenage pregnancy, abortion, and the boundaries she had to build to protect her peace. Courtney reflects on her early Navy journey—boot camp, A-school, and those unforgettable early days in uniform—sharing stories of laughter, adversity, and lessons learned. Aaron delivers a hilarious breakdown of “honch monsters,” and the crew swaps memories of Great Lakes and the RDC grind. Courtney discusses the mentors who taught her the value of training your reliefs, the importance of accountability, and what ultimately inspired her to write Unapologetically Favored after a viral post questioning empty “thank-you for your service” gestures. Listener questions about leadership spark a powerful exchange on the role of First Class Petty Officers and why leaders must trust their people enough to let them lead, fail, and grow. From being married against her nature and struggling with instinct to finally embracing her truth and telling her mom, Courtney walks listeners through the courage it took to live authentically under Don't Ask, Don't Tell. She shares the impact of good mentorship, the value of grace after mistakes, and how faith and resilience helped her rise through adversity. Damo introduces the idea of giving Sailors “scarlet letters” for their failures, which leads to a discussion about forgiveness, perception, and leadership growth. Courtney also reflects on what she learned from a failed BCA. It's three hours of honesty, humor, and hard-earned wisdom—laughter, confession, mentorship, and faith woven into one conversation. From barbershop debates to leadership lessons to spiritual redemption, this episode captures everything Permission to Speak Freely stands for: real people, real leadership, and real conversations that matter. This episode is dedicated to Angelina Resendiz. Your presence made an impact that will never be forgotten. This conversation is for you — and because of you. The crew is joined by AZCM (Ret.) Courtney Barber. The episode opens with a debate about The Carter III and whether or not it's overrated. From there, the conversation turns to Tyler Perry's Straw, Teyana Taylor's performance, and whether streaming releases are in the same league as theatrical films. Spoiler alert — they also react to the twist ending and discuss how the film handles grief, breakdowns, and trauma. The crew reflects on time spent in New Orleans, the weight of anniversaries, and moments that still linger. They congratulate James Sandifer on being elected mayor of Lumberton. Then the conversation shifts to the Army's 250th birthday celebration and questions around military spending, followed by VADM Cheeseman's retirement, a first look at the new CPO eval, and a photo of a Master Chief that sparked questions about standards and image. They also touch on the renaming of military bases, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's recent appearance before Congress, and the challenge of applying today's mindset to past decisions. Tisha closes by sharing thoughts on working in a job that doesn't align with your values — and what it means to try to make a difference anyway. These and more topics are covered on this episode. In THIS episode of Who Would Win Unleashed, the cybernetically enhanced Spartan super-soldier Master Chief (championed by James Gavsie) takes on the lean, green, ninja machine known as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (repped by Eric Holmes) in an all-out brawl across sewer tunnels, rooftops, and UNSC drop zones!Armed with Mjolnir armor, military-grade tactics, AI support from Cortana, and a weapons locker full of alien-slaying firepower, Master Chief enters the battlefield as the embodiment of human perfection through science and war. But the TMNT aren't just pizza-powered punks—they're a mutant brotherhood of martial arts mastery: Leonardo's precision, Donatello's tech smarts, Raphael's raw aggression, and Michelangelo's unpredictably wild style combine into a chaotic ballet of turtle-powered teamwork. As plasma grenades meet flying nunchaku and energy swords clash with twin katanas, this isn't just a battle—it's a clash of philosophies: lone-wolf military precision versus family-fueled ninja synergy.Join hosts James and Eric as they dive deep into comic-book lore, gaming stats, ninja scrolls, Halo kill-streaks, sewer-level tactics, and next-gen durability debates. Will Earth's last Spartan crush the turtle squad with tactical supremacy? Or will the half-shell heroes prove that four brothers are stronger than one lone legend? You can now support us on Patreon at Patreon.com/WhoWouldWinShowCheck out the Who Would Win YouTube Channel!https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvvgEElLPGQG2GXkqMhQ5JwJoin our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/whowouldwinshowFollow u son Twitter: @jamesgavsie @whowouldwinshowFollow us on IG and Threads: @WhoWouldWinShow @jamesgavsie @theericholmesCheck out the Who Would Win Merch Store:https://saywerd.co/collections/who-whould-win-merchSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/who-would-win/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacySupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/who-would-win/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacySupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/who-would-win/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacySupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/who-would-win/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacySupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/who-would-win/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacySupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/who-would-win/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
