Let’s face it, there’s not a lot of evidence to support the cause of adapting video games for movies or TV. And yet we tried the “Halo” TV series from Paramount+ and… liked it? We discuss making the Master Chief a real character with a strong supporting cast, why the UNSC is not trustworthy, the origin of Cortana, and the show’s connections to Star Wars, Firefly, and… 2001?! Jason Snell with Moisés Chiullan.

Welcome to the second part of the pre-Megcacon Mega cast, occurring post-Megacon. In this one, we're off to the races going on and on about the Halo tv show. Technically this was the last half of our conversation from the prior week and contrary to what Mervyn says at the start, It was in fact not a five-minute talk about the Halo tv show, so go figure.Available on Amazon Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, iHeart Radio, Google Podcasts, Spreaker, Castbox, Deezer, Podcast Addict, and Podchaser.Spicy Beets: https://soundcloud.com/jesse-senpaiPaper Lab Studios: Paperlabstudios.comFollow us on Instagram: @fisby4real @zippertan @paperlabstudiosFollow us on Twitter: @zippertan @paperlabSupport us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/paperlabstudios
Want to hear from The Master Chief himself? Of course you do, which is why Pablo Schreiber joins us on this week's show to talk all things Halo. Plus the team take sides on whether they're #TeamMaggie or #TeamBirdy in Everything I Know About Love, Beth and Boyd go into raptures about the Barry finale and we review ALL the shows. Why? Because Paramount+ launched this week, and with it everything from The Man Who Fell To Earth and The First Lady to The Offer, Halo and the new Star Trek show. There is a LOT going on and we do our level best to cover off the whole lot.

Sorry for the delay, but there was a bit of computer wrangling and software & editing frustration getting this episode out. But we're back with an episode jam-packed to the brim with gamey goodness! We've got all the important news stories - Master Chief getting his cheeks out and then getting his game on in the new Halo show, Inafune's descent into NFTs, and Kojima's ascent into...a Death Stranding sunglasses collection? We also go over some actual games, along with breaking down Activision's "Diversity" Tool. ...Yeah, it's not great. Enjoy! Please welcome Callum - My 2nd Australian to join me on my Podcast in a row! Can I keep it up for a 3rd episode in a row? Who knows? I recently saw that Halo and Moon Knight kind of got some hate online, so I reached out to see, what that was all about. It went from an idea of having a debate, to just talking about what we liked about the shows and then we delve into a rabbit hole like we always do lol. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jared-and-the-flock/message

The conclusion to the first season of Master Chief's TV adventures is finally here, but did it stick the landing or continue to frustrate us? Join us for another special episode of The GI Show, where we're reviewing both episode nine of Halo and season one as a whole. The regular team is back to wrap up the season, but we couldn't do a Halo review without a familiar friend. Alex Stadnik, Brian Shea, and Andrew Reiner are joined by Kate Sánchez, founder of But Why Tho? to break down the highs and lows of this episode and the season in this spoiler-filled discussion. In episode nine, we find John and company reeling from the fallout of Makee's decision, setting the stage for the final battle. The good news is that "Transcendence" has plenty of satisfying action that genuinely feels like what we love about Halo as a video game. The bad news is those questionable story choices continue to bring down our enjoyment of the series. When looking at the first season as a whole, it's clear that plenty of things could have been better. In that spirit, we finish out this episode of The GI Show and our Halo review with our thoughts on the state of Master Chief, Halsey, and Co.'s tale and whether or not we're excited about a second season. We also grade the show on the GI review scale for those dying to know what we thought numerically. Thank you so much for joining us on this journey. While the show had its ups and downs, it was so fun to get to chat with the community on a weekly basis. We hope you enjoyed these videos, and we're so excited to continue our review series in the not too distant future. What do you think about Halo? Be sure to let us know in the comments below. We'd also love your feedback on the extra GI Show episodes. Do you like them? Do you want to see us focus on games or the Marvel shows in the future? Stop me if you've heard this before, but the Halo series has continuously been a roller coaster ride of good and bad, and few episodes encapsulate that as well as this week's tale in "Allegiance." Join us on The Game Informer Show as we discuss the eighth episode of the series, break down the most significant moments, and discuss the scene everyone is talking about. Your regular hosts of Alex Stadnik, Andrew Reiner, and Brian Shea are back again and definitely have thoughts on the return of Master Chief, Makee, and Dr. Halsey. After a week away on Madrigal with Kwan and Soren, the focus shifts back to Reach and what the UNSC is doing about finding The Covenant and Halo. While the militaristic arm of humanity panics over other planets getting glassed by their alien foes, John and Makee are spending time getting to know each other after their shared vision of the show's namesake. While the universe's greatest Spartan and the Covenant spy fraternize in the park (and other places), Dr. Halsey continues to meddle in order to advance humanity in her image, threatening the people she's trying to save in the process. Will the good doctor's interference and the union between the main characters result in unity between the two warring factions or make the upcoming battle that much harder? You'll just have to listen to this week's show to find out. What do you think about Halo thus far? Be sure to let us know in the comments below. We'd also love your feedback on the extra GI Show episodes. Do you like them? Do you want to see us focus on games or the Marvel shows in the future? Halo Season 1 is such an incredibly frustrating and disappointing show. That in itself is an amazing feat since before the first episode, we really had no expectations for this show. But the first two episodes (particularly the opening of the first episode) really showed a lot of great potential. What followed though was a disjointed and inconsistent show that is suffering from an identity crisis that would put Marc Spector to shame. This season constantly sets up rules which it doesn't follow. In the first episodes, Master Chief and Silver Team are heavily monitored. But since then, Kai has been completely off her meds and doing weird shit and no one seems to notice but Master Chief. Nothing makes sense. And then there's episode 7. Hands down the worst episode of the season. This show has done everything to make Kwan not likable and then they make the character the center of an episode that structurally just doesn't make sense. All the sudden Soren is back home (with no real explanation), doing another job but then comes back to save Kwan? What? Why? This is so dumb. Can Halo stick the landing in the last 2 episodes of this season? Probably not. At this point the hope is that they hit the drawing board when it comes to Season 2 and start fixing things. After two weeks of great episodes, the Halo series takes a huge step back during "Inheritance," the seventh episode of the Paramount Plus episodic adventure. Join us on The Game Informer Show as we break down and spoil the highs and lows of Kwan and Soren's journey and quickly touch on our thoughts on last week's episode, as well. The regular crew of Alex Stadnik, Brian Shea, and Andrew Reiner are all back and, unfortunately, have bad news to deliver to fans of Master Chief, Cortana, and Dr. Halsey. "Inheritance" features none of those characters or the exciting storyline on Reach with the discovery of the actual Halo ring. Instead, we head back to Madrigal and the ongoing adventures of the reformed Spartan and his rebellious counterpart. After questionably getting out of her car and walking straight into a sand storm, Kwan meets the mysterious desert mystics that lead her to a revelation about what her family's legacy entails. While Kwan is making her discoveries, Soren is back home, gloating about past glories while kind of answering how he got off the planet in the first place. Eventually, our heroes reunite and face off against Vinsher in a fight for control of the planet. Unfortunately, Halo's pacing problem rears its ugly head yet again, and most of the action and plot development feel like filler instead of meaningful moments. The series hasn't been able to justify the inclusion of these characters, and even when the story finally reconnects with the search for the Halo ring, it feels as though they could have covered everything that happened in 50 minutes in a show intro instead. It will be interesting to see how the series rebounds from this now with only two episodes left in the season. Here's hoping we don't have to go back to Halo Tatooine for a long, long time. What do you think about Halo thus far? Be sure to let us know in the comments below. We'd also love your feedback on the extra GI Show episodes. Do you like them? Do you want to see us focus on games or the Marvel shows in the future? Please email us at podcast@gameinformer.com or reach out on Discord as we want to know what you think.
This week the boys watched and discussed a new show on Paramount +... and the reason they did so is because of the one and only Master Chief. Does it live up to our expectations? Do we like the music? The story? Despite it's praises, there is a grunt or two we have. As a matter of fact, there is something apparently we all kind of DON'T like about it. #helmet An additional apparently - I also misspelled Jon's name last week in these notes. Hilarious. Next time, if you haven't done so before - come join us on twitch.tv/weeklygameschat for the live stream and recording of this show. Thank you for listening and being awesome Richards. #GameOn Topic TIME, Time, time...18:52 NEWS!!!! 1:09:17 All sounds brought to you by zapsplat.com
