I used to run a studio on the Strip. Charged a membership, and people paid — not as a favor, but because behind that door was forty grand of equipment they couldn't afford on their own. That business is dead. The equipment's in your pocket now.So here's the question that runs this whole episode: if the tools are free and everybody's got them, why isn't everybody winning?I got it backwards for a long time. I thought access stopped being worth money. It didn't. It just stopped being access to equipment. What people were actually buying was a reason to show up. A room where the work happened. Somebody who'd already built it handing them the blueprint instead of a pep talk. The gear was the excuse. The room was the product. I just didn't know it.In Vol. 17 I break down what I'm building next — the Cashavelli Frequency — and then I let you watch me make three real decisions about this show live instead of handing you the finished thing. Why I'm extending the runtime. Why one video version a week and not five. And why I'm bringing in a bench of specialists instead of doing every lane myself.Plus DJ G Kid drops the Las Vegas Nightlife Minute for the weekend, and Turf Talk gets into the Southwest — why Zillow says we're down 4% while closing reports say we're up 7%, and the buydown move most buyers don't know to ask for.In this episode– Why the studio business died and what replaced it– You don't need the tools, you need the environment– Change the thing, protect the flow– Turf Talk: Southwest Vegas, 89178 and 89148 — $505K median list, 72 days on market– The buydown play: why $10K off the rate beats $10K off the price– Why the freestyles encode the principles — you'll forget a sentence, you won't forget a hookYour move this weekend: don't produce anything. Build the room. Pick a physical spot and a time — a corner, a desk, a chair, 6am Saturday — and make that the place the work happens. Same spot, same time, non-negotiable. Then run one ritual tonight: whisper your own name before your next real decision, and ask what you would choose.THE PRINCIPLE: Your brain runs on evidence, not opinions. That's why "I'm letting it go" does nothing and washing your hands after a draining conversation does something — one is a statement, the other is a receipt. And it's why the tools in your pocket haven't made you rich yet. You never had a tools problem. You had a room problem. Nobody sells you the room, so you've been building in a hallway alone and blaming yourself for it.THE ASK: Reply and tell me where your room is going to be this weekend — the actual spot. I read every one. And in today's episode I run all nine habits, plus what I got wrong about this show's runtime and why two sources say opposite things about Southwest Vegas home values. Press play.

Podcasting in the turf industry continues to gain momentum, and one of the standout successes is Turf Talk, hosted by Florida golf course superintendents Rob Uzar and Ty Robb. The show is broadcast live, which brings a unique set of challenges, from managing technology to handling unexpected guests or off-the-cuff moments. Rob and Ty embrace those challenges with quick thinking and humor, creating a loose, engaging format that makes the show as entertaining as it is informative.Turf Talk evolved organically from Ty's early days hosting live turf conversations on Twitter (now X), where he would talk turf in the evenings and fellow grass growers would gradually jump in. One of the more memorable stories from our interview involved those early broadcasts starting at 7 p.m. Eastern. Just as Rob and Ty were ready to wrap up, turf managers from the West Coast would join, turning what was meant to be a one-hour show into a marathon that stretched well past East Coast bedtimes. Both hosts also reflected on their beginnings in turf management as teenagers, discovering a passion for the industry early on. Today, they continue to give back through the First Green program at their local high school, opening up their time and golf courses to help the next generation of turf managers explore the industry firsthand.Visit EarthWorks at: https://www.earthworksturf.com Podcasts: https://www.earthworksturf.com/earthworks-podcasts/ 2 Minute Turf Talks: https://www.earthworksturf.com/2-minute-turf-talks/

Moving back and forth between Vallejo and SoCal, once he started rapping his dream was to sign with his cousin E-40. That became a reality when his debut album "The Street Novelist" dropped on Sick Wid It Records. He quickly became one of the most popular voices on the West Coast and collaborated with some of the biggest legends of the Bay Area. But just as his career was taking off, a personal tragedy led him to take a long hiatus from rap which he explains here for the first time. We are very excited to announce that the EarthWorks Podcast has reached its 200th Episode! This project was started in 2020, at the beginning of COVID, when we weren't sure how we were going to be able to stay in touch with clients and friends. Jack Higgins, one of our hosts on the EW Podcast, came up with the idea and we never looked back. As we celebrate our 200th episode, we have close to 1000 listens every week, and our archives are constantly being searched and older episodes are being found and enjoyed multiple times. Our goal was simply to help our clients tell their stories, many of which have been very successful using Biological Soil Management, others are just good friends of the industry. Everyone has a story and if that story helps just one turf manager discover a better way to manage their property than all the work we put into it is well worth it. This week our three podcast hosts are being featured and have invited one of their favorite guests to join them for a short thank you. Joel invited Glenn Smickley, the General Manager of the California Golf Club, who he credits for much of the success of EarthWorks. Kevin met with one of our most popular guests, Dave Wilber, Turfgrass Consultant Extraordinaire and they talked about construction projects in the turf industry. And, last but never least, Jack brought back one of our favorite Lawn Care Operators, Jay Lo Monaco from Paul's Best Lawn Service where Jay shared his story of how carbon based fertility changed his business model. We can't thank everyone enough for listening to the EW Podcast and Turf Talk over these past few years. We look forward to continuing the string of weekly events!Visit EarthWorks at: https://www.earthworksturf.com Podcasts: https://www.earthworksturf.com/earthworks-podcasts/ 2 Minute Turf Talks: https://www.earthworksturf.com/2-minute-turf-talks/
