The Grand National has changed enormously in recent years. Does it now need to change again? That is the big question asked in this week's edition of The Front Page, in which Chris Cook and Jonathan Harding join Lee Mottershead to discuss complaints from a number of British trainers that the sport's most famous race has lost its essence. Should there be a cap on the number of runners a single trainer can have? Would the Grand National be better with win-and-you're-in races? And do people really care who trains the runners or in what country they are trained? After looking forward to Aintree, the team looks back at the Cheltenham Festival, this focusing on last week's announcement that some ticket prices are to be cut, alongside a rebranding of the meeting's second day. To wrap up the programme, we reflect on the Racing Post's Racing and the Economy series, debate the mini revolt that occurred when some of Britain's trainers met in London and, after all that, we even tell you who the panel fancies for next Saturday's Grand National.
The Racing Postcast team are back to analyse Saturday's ITV action from Bangor, Kelso and Newbury and we have a stellar panel. Host James Stevens is joined by Racing Post tipster Robbie Wilders and Postcast debutant Harry Wilson along with Unibet's Brett Williams. The guys look back on last week's action at the Cheltenham Festival before highlighting plenty of fancies across an interesting day of racing in Britain
Nick is joined by Jane Mangan to reflect on the final moments of the Cheltenham Festival and to look ahead. Today, they are joined by Henry de Bromhead, with a lengthy debrief on his Cheltenham runners and plans for Aintree, Punchestown and beyond. Plus, Sean Graham, with a bold route ahead for Triumph Hurdle shocker Poniros and news on Energumene. Cotswolds hotelier and publican Nathan Eades joins the show to discuss the impact and cause of falling Festival crowds, while rookie trainer Stephen Thorne talks about his remarkable start following another milestone at the Curragh yesterday.
Fortune favours the bold as Golden Ace shocks the racing world, claiming Champion Hurdle glory amidst chaos at Cheltenham Festival 2025. Multiple Festival-winning jockey and TalkSPORT pundit Lizzie Kelly, along with TPD racing analyst Adam Mills, join Emmet Kennedy to dissect an extraordinary Champion Hurdle—including State Man's dramatic last-flight fall, Brighterdaysahead's unexpected flop, and Lizzie's compelling argument about the real legacy of Constitution Hill. We break down Lossiemouth's classy back-to-back Mares' Hurdle victories, Bob Olinger's Festival hat-trick and remarkable defeat of reigning champion Teahupoo in the Stayers' Hurdle, and question whether Jonbon's Festival dreams are officially over after defeat to Marine Nationale in the Champion Chase. Adam makes a bold, data-driven prediction for Fact To File's future that could stun listeners, while we discuss Inothewayurthinkin's intriguing odds for the Grand National. Finally, we debate if Galopin Des Champs can emulate the legendary Kauto Star and reclaim Gold Cup glory. Insight, debate, and bold takes—this is the definitive Cheltenham championship races breakdown. The Final Furlong Podcast is proudly brought to you by Geoff Banks Bet. It's all things Cheltenham on this week's edition of The Front Page as Paul Kealy and Maddy Playle join Lee Mottershead to look back on the biggest meeting of the year. The top chasers, hurdlers and stories are all examined in depth, with the panel looking back on Inothewayurthinkin's Gold Cup defeat of Galopin Des Champs, an extraordinary Champion Hurdle, the decision to run Lossiemouth in the Mares' Hurdle and so much more. There were fewer racegoers and more false starts than last year but the festival was still fantastic and threw up an abundance of talking points - this is the place where we do the talking.
During Cheltenham Festival week. Nick was joined in the studio by The RP's Lee Mottershead, Champion Hurdle winning trainer Jeremy Scott, Festival winning jockey Harry Skelton & #Raceday presenter Frankie Foster. Lot's of Cheltenham Festival thoughts & reactions with winning connections.

The first woman to be leading jockey at the Cheltenham Festival with six victories, including the Champion Hurdle, and the following year she became the first female jockey to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup. We speak to Fern Buckley, BBC sports journalist, ahead of Blackmore's participation in Friday afternoon's Gold Cup race.In Bangladesh, there's been shocking news that an eight-year-old girl who was raped last week, has died from her injuries. Fierce protests have erupted in the country following the girl's death yesterday with people demanding that the government expedite justice for rape victims and reform laws related to women and children's safety. We hear from the BBC's South Asia Correspondent Samira Hussain who is based in Delhi, India. In the next of our Women's Prize discussions, we hear from Clare Mulley on her book charting the life of Agent Zo – a courageous Polish female resistance fighter in World War Two, and VV Ganeshananthan about her novel Brotherless Night set during the Sri Lankan Civil War – winner of the Women's Prize for Fiction last year. What can these writers in very different genres tell us about the experience of women in war?Catherine Cox from Nottingham was one of thousands of women who took the epilepsy drug sodium valproate while pregnant, something which is now advised against. She's been campaigning for compensation for more than 20 years. Her son Matthew, who's now 23, was born with a range of conditions, including autism, ADHD, epilepsy and several learning disabilities. At 18 months old, he was diagnosed with foetal valproate syndrome, indicating the medication Catherine took was the cause of his problems. Catherine joins Nuala alongside Dr Henrietta Hughes, Patient Safety Commissioner, whose report, released just over a year ago, recommended the need to compensate those harmed by valproate.Presenter: Nuala McGovern Producer: Kirsty Starkey Editor: Karen Dalziel
