Tyler Long graduated with part time Data Analytics Cohort 7. I've always had trouble deciding what I want "to be" when I "grow up". The winding path has lead to a major in English literature, an early career in grant compliance, and opportunities to learn SQL. NSS has taught me the value of combining my current skills with opportunities in computer science. I look forward to starting as a Data Analyst as a first step toward a career in natural language processing.

With 40 hits, Jared Braschler ranks third all time in the Grip 'N Rip Baseball League. Now a resident of Ozark, Missouri, he lived out a modest dream of playing ball for the hometown team in 2021, when he started in center field for the Ozark Mountain Ducks. Unfortunately for the full time commercial pilot and part time pro baseball player, it also marked the fourth time in six years of the GRBL that Braschler played for the team that lost in the championship game at the end of a season. Nick Bacon electrified our car speakers and stole all of our girlfriends as the lead singer of The Endless Summer. The band made albums, toured, rocked concerts and rocked the internet. "Satellites" became a moderate hit in Japan. What are the guys from The Endless Summer doing in 2021? We don't know, but we can at least tell you about Nick. He's a graduate of the kindergarten program at Joel E. Barber Elementary School who went on to graduate from Jefferson City High School and pursue a degree in classical Latin (yes, really). He found love and started a family in Springfield, but insists his wife, Taylor, was not the Yoko Ono of The Endless Summer. He works for Apple and plays baseball in the Grip 'N Rip Baseball League. And that's just a taste of the conversation we have. A weekly look at father involvement in education through the Watch D.O.G.S. program of the National Center for Fathering. This week, our special guest is Tina Long, mother of Tyler Long who committed peer abuse driven suicide in October of 2009. The Long's story was featured in the documentry "Bully". Tina and David Long are working tirelessly in their son's honor to end the trend of students committing suicide in response to being bullied. Dads of Great Students is a national program currently operating in 47 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, Mexico and even China. Over 3000 schools utilize the fathers and father figures within their own community to enhance the environment and safety of their schools. Watch D.O.G.S. National Coordinator Keith Schumacher is the host of the show. Senior National Program Developer Chris Danenhauer co-hosts and they are regularly joined by Watch D.O.G.S. Executive Director Eric Snow.
Back in March I had the opportunity to talk with David and Tina Long regarding their son Tyler’s Bullycide in 2009, and their tireless efforts stop bullying and make schools accountable for our children’s safety. As you will recall, David and Tina have appeared on The Ellen Show, 20/20, Nightline, and many other programs. They both spoke at a caucus on bullying in Washington, D.C. and as David states in the film Bully, “My voice is not going to fall silent. I will go to my grave until a difference is made.” But will this all change now that the school which Tyler attended has sought to silence them by seeking compensatory damages relating to the courst costs associated with the Long's action seeking to hold the school accountable for their son's death? Today we will find out the answer to this as well as other questions in this tragic story.
