Was What's My Line TV Star, media icon, and crack investigative reporter and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen murdered for writing a tell-all book about the JFK assassination? If so, is the main suspect in her death still at large? These questions and more are answered in former CNN, ESPN, and USA Today legal analyst Mark Shaw's 25th book, The Reporter Who Knew Too Much. Through discovery of never-before-seen videotaped eyewitness interviews with those closest to Kilgallen and secret government documents, Shaw unfolds a “whodunit” murder mystery featuring suspects including Frank Sinatra, J. Edgar Hoover, Mafia Don Carlos Marcello and a "Mystery Man" who may have silenced Kilgallen. All while by presenting through Kilgallen's eyes the most compelling evidence about the JFK assassinations since the House Select Committee on Assassination's investigation in the 1970s. Called by the New York Post, “the most powerful female voice in America,” and by acclaimed author Mark Lane the “the only serious journalist in America who was concerned with who killed John Kennedy and getting all of the facts about the assassination,” Kilgallen's official cause of death reported as an overdose of barbiturates combined with alcohol, has always been suspect since no investigation occurred despite the death scene having been staged. Shaw proves Kilgallen, a remarkable woman who broke the "glass ceiling" before the term became fashionable, was denied the justice she deserved, that is until now. More about the book may be learned at thereporterwhoknewtoomuch.com or thedorothykilgallenstory.org.

What happens when you get a bunch of actors to try out some end-stopped and open-ended lines? This episode, obviously! So often, we rely on the magic of actors to fix our verse drama, that it's time to let the actors give their honest opinion about what they need from a line of verse. Looking at King Arthur verse from 1587 to the 2008 Cupid and Psyche "Bad Quarto", we're moving gently and with laughter through the good, the bad, and the unactable in verse drama. Featuring verse from: The Misfortunes of Arthur (Sir Thomas Hughes), and Cupid and Psyche (Emily C. A. Snyder) Featuring the voices of: Andrew Barrett Nick Ritacco Evan Sachs Vanessa Wendt As promised, the 2008 "Bad Quarto" and the 2014 NYC Revision of Cupid and Psyche are available for $15+ patrons. June 6, 1954 - It's the last show of the season and Jack Benny is getting ready for a personal appearance in Dallas. They mention the Irwin Allen documentary "The Sea Around Us", the book and movie "The Cain Mutiny", silent film stars Lon Chaney and Charlie Chaplin, the game show "What's My Line?, and Bing Crosby singing "Come On-A My House".
The Celebrities are up to their shenanigans once again. This time Sarah Paulson leads the charge with an all white cast of A-listers to make sure the world knows they are being responsible towards black people. Aaron Paul, Stanley Tucci, Julianne Moore, Debra Messing, Kristen Bell and Justin Theroux all jump in on the charades. But it backfires, having 10x as many dislikes than likes on Youtube as well as the public calling them out for not being genuine or authentic. They look like they are being forced at gunpoint to say one line they haven't even memorized, which was then followed by a global barrage of disparaging tweets against their entire attempt at white guilt. In what one person called, "The Imagine Remix", it was a complete fail and once again reminds us that celebrities need to stay quiet and focus their energies on more productive outlets. Peter Gabel grew up with not one but two notable celebrity parents. Arlene Francis and Martin Gabel. Both were actors on radio, Broadway, TV, and television. Today we focus on his beautiful and wonderfully talented mother, Arlene Francis. She is probably most well known now for appearing as a panelist on "What's My Line". She was one of the top paid female panelists, was the first woman host of "The Tonight Show"--before Joan Rivers, in the time in between Jack Paar and Johnny Carson. Peter discusses his mother and his guest appearances on "What's My Line", where he stumped his mother every time. Peter is not in showbusiness-- he is a notable academic in American law, writer and editor. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hope-sears/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hope-sears/support

Buffy confronts Kendra, the new slayer in town, then must work with her to save Angel.
A respected and admired reporter, who fought for justice for so many through her remarkable natural talents for deductive reasoning, and her learned ability to fight through the toughest struggles of being a woman reporter in the 40s, 50s, and 60s, in a mans world of violence, corruption and greed. Ms. Kilgallen did it with Hootzspah, she did it with style and she did it with Grace, and quite remarkably, she did it in heels! Dorothy was a loving mother, a forgiving wife, a winning panelist on the famed What's My Line television series for years. Gaining the admiration of her co panelists, and a nation that watched as she unraveled the occupations of the guests with meticulously thoughtful questioning and a style all her own. Dorothy wore many hats in her life. Socialite, Court Room observer, Gossip Columnist, a creator of movies that gave honorable, smarter rolls to woman, and even had a hand in a ground breaking morning radio show that was a favorite nation wide. As bright a star as hers shown, the darkness of the world she ran fearlessly into closed on her fast, when a personal friend of hers, who happened to be President was executed on a warm summer day in Dallas, Texas. Her brightness was snuffed out behind closed doors , locked with greed and nailed closed with corruption. Till now those doors remained closed, although some barely mentioned her questionable death, just shedding a sliver of light into the darkness of that day, now the doors are wide open and it seems so much is being unraveled that it just may be the force of nature ,Dorothy herself assisting along the way! Could it be that Dorothy isn't done fighting for justice? If she is, she is most certainly finding a way to kick down the doors locked with lies, covering up the deaths of JFK, Jack Ruby and even Oswald. Isn't it just like her to find a way! A compelling whodunnit and why, with Author Mark Shaw as my guest, we will discuss his books, Melvin Belli: King of the Court Room, The Poison Patriarch, The Reporter Who Knew Too Much: The Mysterious Death of What's My Line? TV Star and Media Icon Dorothy Kilgallen , and his latest, Denial of Justice: Dorothy Kilgallen , Abuse of Power, and the most Compelling JFK Assassination Investigation in History! Mark is a respected author of over 27 books, a former network television personality and legal analyst for ABC,CNN,and USA Today. Join us tonight as he reveals what new evidence has come to light, and what did Dorothy know, that got her entangled in a web of deceit, that kept the curtains drawn on the truth, until NOW!
Spike brings in three professional bounty hunters to eliminate Buffy while she ponders on what her profession might be if her fate wasn't already sealed.
Just three days after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Fred Allen hosts his hour long comedy show on CBS Radio. It's followed by the latest news from the war courtesy of John Daly of CBS News (and later What's My Line fame). Not the announcement at the beginning of the show on how the Texaco siren would not be used due to the Peal Harbor attack.
It's been a week of touring. Lesley visiting the four corners of Scotland with her film on Norway, and Theresa May punting her Brexit deal to her "precious union". We try and get our heads around just what the PM was trying to achieve with her carefully managed charm offensive. The National, of course, was barred from the Bridge of Weir extravaganza, a genuine own goal as the decision was roundly condemned by journalists of all persuasions. But was this yet another example of Scotland's voice being marginalised over Brexit? Gordon Brown, yes, it's that man again, emerged from the mists of his Fife haven to lambast the Scottish government's handling of the NHS. I, as is my wont, chip in with a few wee reminders of the PFI burden Gordon and his pals have saddled the Scottish public sector with. (Yes, I know I ended that sentence with a preposition). Finally, we consider the recent sightings of Tory politicians at local foodbanks. Here's a hint, we're not best pleased. All the above plus digressions for sightings of windsurfers, payment of window cleaners and memories of 1970s pro-celebrity golf. Prizes, as usual, for spotting the musical allusion in this week's title.

Buffy is as good at being the Slayer as Josh and Leah are at BlowPens. I don't think that analogy actually tracks, but this week we close out What's My Line with a BlowPen induced bang! Spike has a whole secret plan to kill Angel that was almost foiled by Kendra killing Angel. Go figure. At the end of the day, both Kendra AND Spike fail to kill Angel. It's possible I have a different take away than I should. Anyway, give us a listen and don't forget to share with the friends you REALLY like. The rest of them are not your real friends anyway. Emcee, Andie, David and Jan talk about Kendra... A LOT. Like, a lot a lot. Do you know there is a ton of problematic stuff about Kendra? They get into it. They also talk about Slayer lore and whether it was a New Moon or a Full Moon.
Welcome to If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me, also known as I Wear the Cheese, It Does Not Wear Me. This week we look at "What's My Line, Pt. 2!" We talk plots, we talk firsts, we get deep into Slayer lore (or what there is of lore), accents and the communicative burden. As Kelly notes about the episode, "accepting help from others can be hard, and scary, but is often beneficial," and just like Buffy and Kendra being stronger together, so are you and us!
