HUGE WIN for the Broncos yesterday! Sad news, we didn't win the Mega Millions jackpot but we did win a little cash. How did Jamie's weekend at the cabin with Nyle go?? We've got the update. Ep. 397 In Episode 397, Ken and Dave discuss MTG on the outs, property tax elimination, Savannah getting smacked down, pennies for your thoughts, nudes on an airplane, and creeps on a list. DC Trip and Government Events Dave traveled to Washington D.C. during the government shutdown, observing that the city and nightlife were notably quiet. He received a personalized tour of the Capitol, which was arranged by the office of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green. Museum visits included the American History Museum (featuring Archie Bunker's chair and Abraham Lincoln's hat) and the International Spy Museum (displaying concealable spy gear, such as a radio hidden in a fake scrotum and lockpick sets). The government shutdown concluded, but the current Continuing Resolution (CR) expires around January 30th, leading to concerns about another looming shutdown shortly after the holidays. National Politics and Infighting Donald Trump used new nicknames for Marjorie Taylor Green, including "Marjorie Taylor Brown" and "Marjorie Trader Green," labeling her a RINO (Republican In Name Only). The hosts praised the constituent services provided by Marjorie Taylor Green's office, noting the staff is super nice and very young. Michael Knowles spoke at Belmont Abbey College on the theme of the civil war within the Republican party, arguing that infighting is excessive despite Republicans controlling all three branches of government, partly fueled by podcasters seeking clicks. It was argued that Trump's petty attacks against figures like Green and Thomas Massie harm the independent vote. Georgia Local Issues Property Taxes: Discussion centered on the dangers of eliminating property taxes in Georgia, which would require rural counties to rely on state funding and beg the capital for money. The concept of paying property taxes as a one-time charge, similar to the vehicle ad valorem tax, was mentioned. Savannah Gun Law: A local judge ruled Savannah's ordinance—which mandated securing firearms in vehicles and carried potential penalties up to a $1,000 fine or 30 days in jail—as unconstitutional and contrary to state code. A representative from the hosts' area, Martin, was named chairman of the House Committee on Code Revision. The Mega Millions winner in Newnan, GA, prompted jokes that they can now afford their property taxes. Cultural Topics and Oddities Penny Discontinuation: The US Treasurer announced that the penny will no longer be minted, a move expected to save $56 million annually. The concern was raised that this is the first step in moving away from physical currency. Emigration Poll: A poll showed that 40% of young women (aged 15-44) expressed a desire to leave the US, which the hosts attributed to political romanticism rather than a genuine wish to give up American comforts and amenities. Congressional Conduct: Democrat Congressman Brad Sherman (CA) was observed looking at racy photos on a flight and blamed the incident on his iPad's algorithm. Epstein Files: Trump ordered the Justice Department and FBI to investigate Jeffrey Epstein's relationships with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, and other former officials. The hosts urged a full release of non-pornographic information, expecting the list to expose CEOs and captains of industry. Vandalism: Timothy Meyers Pool was arrested for vandalizing a Veterans Day exhibit at a Texas church after leaving his driver's license at the scene. Sports Georgia achieved a victory over Texas. Texas A&M secured a dramatic comeback win against South Carolina (31-30), after trailing 30-3.

“Would you become a tattletale if it meant pocketing nearly a million dollars?” That's the provocative question at the heart of this episode of The Sandy Show, where hosts Sandy McIlree and Tricia dive into the wild world of high-stakes snitching, viral lottery fever, and the quirky moments that make everyday life unforgettable. This episode kicks off with Sandy's hilarious confession about a Christmas present inspired by the middle finger and a playful debate over the true value of Little Debbie Christmas tree cakes. As the conversation unfolds, listeners are treated to a blend of humor and real-life dilemmas—from the skyrocketing Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots to the lengths people will go for a chance at fortune. But the real jaw-dropper comes when Sandy and Tricia explore New York City's now-canceled “tattletale bounty” program, where ordinary citizens earned staggering sums—like $895,737—just for reporting idling cars. “If I could make that kind of money, I might step into snitch world,” Sandy admits, while Tricia stands firm: “There's no price. I could be a rat. $800,000. I am not going to be a rat.” Their banter brings both laughter and reflection on the ethics of snitching and the surprising ways people chase easy money. Throughout the episode, Tricia's infectious excitement over growing lottery jackpots and her candid stories about family, favorite drinks, and the challenges of raising a “snitch-hearted” daughter add warmth and relatability. Listeners also get a taste of pop culture nostalgia, from birthday shout-outs to the cancellation of MTV's “Ridiculousness” after 46 seasons. Notable moments include:Sandy's playful negotiation with his daughter over a hypothetical $800 million lottery win.The revelation of “snitch kings” earning life-changing sums for reporting idling cars.Tricia's heartfelt advice on when to speak up and when to “mind your business.”The quirky tradition of “air gongers” and shout-outs to the show's youngest fans.Whether you're here for the laughs, the life lessons, or the chance to win big, this episode delivers a perfect blend of entertainment and insight. Memorable Quote:“If I could make that kind of money, I might step into snitch world. I just might.” – Tricia“There's no price. I could be a rat. $800,000. In sports, the Bucks got a nice win over Indy last night, the Badgers men's basketball team kicked off it's regular season with a victory, Tucker Kraft is officially OUT for the rest of the season, and Cam Little got "randomly" drug tested by the NFL after his historic 68-yard field goal on Sunday! Yesterday, People magazine announced it's "Sexiest Man Alive" on Jimmy Fallon's show, and Macaulay Culkin recently reprised his role as Kevin McCallister from "Home Alone" in an ad for Home Instead. Plus, is "Wheel of Fortune" getting too raunchy? Great story about a couple of farm workers in California who helped save a bunch of kids from a burning bus, and another story from California where three brothers found a mint Superman comic #1 in their mother's attic after she passed away. A recent poll found that the average parent has to answer 46 questions a day from their child. YIKES! Even though Thanksgiving is still weeks away, we had a couple of turkey-day related stories this morning, including a new Thanksgiving-flavored Oreo collection, and Amazon's $25 Thanksgiving meal. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a woman who lied about finding a needle in her child's Halloween candy and is now facing charges, a woman in Pennsylvania who tried to light a crack pipe while in a hospital bed and suffered severe burns, a man in Virginia who went shopping at Walmart without any clothes on, and a hockey coach who got fired after he wore a Nazi costume to a Halloween party.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Mega Millions is up to $800 million now...but how much would you really take home?
Halloween is in the books. October is just a memory. Christmas is right around the corner! I'm going to take advantage of this nice weather this week and get all my spooky stuff down and put away…and get all my Xmas shit on the house & in the front yard. Better than trying to do all that when it's in the 20's. On the show this morning, we opened up with the latest on a fruit recall, no winner on Friday for the Mega Millions jackpot, and how Americans feel about the time change. In sports, the Dodgers won the World Series over the weekend, the Packers lost yesterday to the Panthers at Lambeau…but the bigger concern is the condition of Tucker Kraft. Cam Little is in the record books for booting the longest field goal in NFL history, and the Bucks play against the Pacers tonight. Elsewhere in sports, the NASCAR Cup Series Championship was decided yesterday, and the Badger Men's Basketball team kicks off their regular season tonight. Also, Hugh Freeze was fired yesterday by Auburn, and a UFC fighter was cut from the league after some suspicious betting was made on one of his fights. We let you know what's on TV today/tonight, and there's a new way to meditate, apparently. We discussed the viral post about which piece of Chex Mix you'd eliminate, and with today being "National Sandwich Day", we discussed some of the deals you can take advantage of to help save some money. Another day, another story about a lost dog reunited with it's owner several years after it went missing. And an entrepreneur in Kenya who just won a major award for an app he designed that helps turn speech into sign language. Found a very interesting stat about the World Series that might make it easier to predict which team will win next year! And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who was trying to steal a power tool by stuffing it down his pants, a dude who REALLY doesn't want teenagers trick-or-treating at his house, a #Florida teacher who showed up to school high on cocaine and shared her vape with students, a #FloridaMan who got drunk & called the cops over 40 times and made violent threats to the police after his wife was arrested, and another #FloridaWoman had a naked fight in her front yard with the cops & firefighters who responded to a domestic disturbance.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We gave Michelle from Marysville a Mega Millions ticket this morning that could win her 800 million!!
FINALLY!!!!! The spookiest day/night of the year has arrived and I'm soooooo ready to drink some Festbiers while handing out some candy and watching scary movies!!! I hope you have a fun & safe Halloween. We started things off this morning by day-dreaming about winning tonight's Mega Millions jackpot, talked about a recall on blood pressure medication, and discussed a list of freebies you can take advantage of today for Halloween! In sports, the Ravens easily beat the Dolphins last night, we looked at the rest of the Week 9 schedule, Bucks got a nice win over Golden State last night without Giannis in the game, the World Series continues tonight from Toronto, the Badger football team is on a bye this weekend, and the Badger men's basketball team starts their regular season on Monday. We let you know what's on TV this weekend and what's new in theaters. Plus, we talked to Doc just after 8am and got his Racing Report courtesy of County Materials in Holmen! Elsewhere in sports, LSU fired their athletic director a day after the Louisiana Governor had some rather negative comments about the football program, the Lakers are being sold, and Gervonta Davis is in some serious trouble just weeks before his scheduled fight against Jake Paul. In other Halloween-related stuff, we took a look at how much Americans are spending on the holiday this year, and a list of the Top 10 costumes for adults, kids, & pets! Speaking of pets…check out this dog that just got reunited with it's owner SEVEN years after it went missing during a robbery. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about the dangers of caramel apples, a dude who dropped a 2,000lb pumpkin on his GEO Metro, a warning from the po-po about weed candy, a woman who ordered some meds online but got body parts instead, a new "Florida Man Cam" at Nashville Predator games, and a drunk dude in Germany who fell out of a bar & into the backyard of a butcher shop.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Lionel dives into a frank discussion about the mathematical odds of everything, from lottery jackpots (MegaMillions, Powerball) and winning elections to the chances of your own birth. Lionel and his callers dissect the bizarre New York election race involving Mamdani, Cuomo, and Sliwa, brutally assessing why Curtis Sliwa should "know his limitations". Explore the ethical conundrum of loyalty versus reality when supporting a doomed candidate. Plus, uncover forgotten New York City phenomena (exploding sewer lids, vanishing car alarms, mysterious steam) and question our fascination with "cool" criminals, reflecting on famous cons, like Frank Abagnale, and the recent theft of French crown jewels from the Louvre.
