February 21, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 95 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I go all over the place with our discussions and down several crazy rabbit holes. We start this show with a quick conversation about an NFL Pro Bowl or All-Star game that could come close to rivaling what the NHL just did with their 2025 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament. The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly have some level of interest in signing Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb this offseason so Alex and I discuss whether that would be a smart move. We discuss the fungibility of the running back position, the valuer of Chubb within that, as well as the 2025 draft class at the position. We discuss the probability of the Steelers drafting a running back this year in the first two rounds. We now have a range for the NFL's 2025 salary cap number as of Wednesday, so Alex and I go over that news. We also discuss what that range means for the Steelers. Alex and I also discuss cap and cash differences in this show and how both relate to the Steelers this offseason. How active will the Steelers be this offseason in signing outside free agents? Alex and I work through an exercise of free agent needs by position groups as it relates to possible number of players ultimately signed with APYs greater than $10 million. We discuss whether Steelers' fans might be expecting too much this offseason when it comes to higher quality, and thus more expensive, outside free agent additions. Does Steelers WR George Pickens need a veteran mentor in the wide receiver room this offseason? Also, should Pickens really be expecting to get a top five wide receiver contract this offseason? Alex and I have discussions about those two questions. Should the Steelers get in a hurry this offseason when it comes to them signing OLB T.J. Watt to a contract extension? Alex and I have a discussion about that question during this show as well. This 118-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap as well. We also answer a few more listener questions at the end of this episode and those create a little more discussion to boot. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Will Manso joins the show to discuss the latest on Jimmy Butler. Hoch's favorite prop bet ahead of the Super Bowl backfires before the game even kicks off. Crowder details his experience at the NFL Pro Bowl weekend and Hoch has a new fascination with a legendary wrestler. Plus, the Top restaurants we wish we could bring back from the dead.
In hour three, Kendrick Lamar once again humiliates Drake at the Grammy's last night. Details about the upcoming NHL All Star ‘Four Nations tournament' and the NBA's new All Star game format. Crowder details his experience at the Pro Bowl over the weekend. Craziest part about the Luka trade: he had zero intentions of leaving Dallas. Plus, why the Heat front office has to be livid about the Luka deal and Hoch's new fascination with a legendary wrestler.
Hour 1 of The Drive kicks off with Zach and Phil cross talking with Dover. The guys react to the massive trade in the NBA, sending Luka Donic to the Los Angeles Lakers. What motivated the Mavericks to trade Luka? How do the Lakers keep getting superstars to get traded to their franchise? Was the Mavericks ownership, front office and Luka Donic not on the same page? What could the Nuggets have offered to the Mavericks to pair Luka with Jokic? Should we stop assuming that Jokic will be a lifelong Nugget and that if things go awry in the near future Jokic could be the one wanting to team up with Luka in Los Angeles? We pivot to the Broncos as we have comments from Peyton Manning on Bo Nix skipping the NFL Pro-Bowl. Was Manning upset with Nix for opting out of the weekend in Orlando? Could Nix have learned a few things from hanging around some of the elite quarterbacks around the NFL?
In hour 2 of The Drive, Zach and Phil react to Myles Garret requesting a trade from the Cleveland Browns. Should the Broncos be interested in trading for Garrett? Are the Broncos in a “win now” mode? Would bringing in Garrett ruin the homegrown nature of the Broncos? Has Nik Bonitto proved enough as a pass rusher to lead the Broncos defense and receive a big payday? Today’s “Three Count” features if Broncos Country should be nervous about what the Raiders are building after signing Chip Kelly to be the highest paid coordinator in the NFL, if we watched any of the NFL Pro-Bowl activities, and we might finally have a resolution to the Comcast and Altitude blackouts. Are the Avalanche stabilizing at goal tender after being the weak point of the team for so long? Is Mackenzie Blackwood on a hot streak after allowing no goals in back-to-back games or is this the type of player he is?
“Life is not about scoreboard watching.” Ryan Clark The Super Bowl match up is set and we are down in Orlando with all the guys who didn't make it but had insane seasons this year! That's right, we got the fellas together down here at the Pro Bowl and we are talking the Big Game in the Big Easy, the Quarterback match ups, Andy Reid's greatness, reality of fan culture, new coach hires, personal fears and how we adjust to the unpredictable moments of life. Ryan, Channing and Fred bring a blend of insight, humor, raw honesty as the trio goes beyond the actual games and talk storylines surrounding the top headlines. Recapping some of the new coach hires of course starting in Duuuval as Fred shares his reaction to the man in charge and not what he said but how he said it to make it the most played sound bite in sports! Continuing around the league, the guys have fun trying to make sense of Jerry Jones' use of the expression Glory hole while Channing weighs in on his own take on what that means which turns into one of the more hilarious stories on the show! Turning attention to next week's game, the powerhouse match up between Philadelphia and Kansas City as the Chiefs try to make history with a three-peat while it's a battle of two highly talented quarterbacks with Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts. Ryan reflects on how, just two years ago, the focus was solely on their race, but today, it's about their ability as elite quarterbacks—a sign of progress. The conversation continues on how rephrasing the way we talk about black quarterbacks is evolving and we should continue to push the narrative to be on the talent, skill and who the athletes are as people not defined by skin color. Fred brings up the unapologetic behaviors of fans and how there is no accountability which Ryan agrees where Channing chimes in that being heckled and shit talked by fans comes with the territory when people sign up to be paid millions of dollars to play a sport. Pivoting to the sad reality for so many, The guys reflect and send a heartfelt message to those impacted by the tragedy of the American Airlines Flight 5342 and use it as a reminder not to take life for granted and understand you never know how the simple things we do daily can not always going as planned. The guys take a moment and chat about they fear in life whether it's a big over arching fear or something fun in the moment that scares them as Ryan, Channing and Fred each share what's on their mind which leads into a deeper look about the fear of failure by the pressure of success. As we wrap the conversation, Ryan leaves the guys asking if they could go back in time to redo an awkward moment in life, what would it be and why….the responses are interesting and show a little deeper look into some of the moments that shaped who the guys are today.
