    Ivy Insights

The Yahoo Sports College Podcast is a must-listen for any college football fan who enjoys a side of humor and entertainment. The hosts, Dan, Pat, and Pete, bring exceptional insight into college football while keeping the atmosphere light and funny. It feels like being surrounded by hilarious dads at a birthday party, making every episode a laugh-out-loud experience. Their chemistry is incredible, akin to an all-star cast of veteran college basketball players from a Mid Major team that surprises everyone in the tournament. Wetzel leads the way with his witty one-liners and energy, Forde brings his solid analysis and occasional jokes, Thamel provides data-driven insights with some nerdy lectures about NCAA leadership failures, and Sully chimes in occasionally with amusing comments about Tennessee Football. While they don't focus on specifics like recruiting or analytics too much, their hilarious takes more than make up for it.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the hosts' ability to bring up random current events or local news nuggets that they hilariously rip on. This refreshing approach sets them apart from other podcasts that solely focus on Alabama/Clemson/playoffs talk. They cover both college football and basketball with entertaining takes while incorporating funny anecdotes about chicken wars and other bizarre topics. It's like listening to the Car Talk guys (RIP) where their laughter was part of the entertainment.

On the downside, sometimes there can be digressions away from college football that might not appeal to every listener. Some may prefer a more focused discussion solely on sports rather than news of the weird or animal stories. Additionally, while they have great chemistry overall, Sully's lack of participation can be noticeable at times as he seems disengaged during episodes.

In conclusion, The Yahoo Sports College Podcast is an outstanding show that provides hilarious yet informative discussions on college sports, primarily football and basketball. The hosts' rapport with each other creates an enjoyable listening experience, and their ability to incorporate other entertaining topics adds to the fun. If you're looking for a podcast that goes beyond the typical football talk and keeps you entertained, this is the one for you.

Michigan fired head coach Sherrone Moore on Wednesday. He was fired with cause for having an "inappropriate relationship with a staff member." The story broke with this news, but continued to evolve and a few hours later it was reported that Moore had been detained by police. Details will continue to come out as more is learned about this situation. Until then, Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey will just look at the football impact of Moore's firing with the big question: Who will be Michigan's next head coach? Signing Day has passed, so Michigan does not need to rush the process of finding their guy. The Transfer Portal opens January 2nd, and it would make sense to want to have a coach in place by that date. Kalen DeBoer is a name that is being rumored, but it is not known if he has any interest. Kenny Dillingham is another name the crew suggests as a good fit. Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss who may be a good fit for the Wolverines going forward. Then, we get some more news from Ross in Vegas. It appears there is momentum to move the playoff to a 16-team model. Most of the conferences are on board, but the Big Ten is still not fully sold. The guys talk about the potential of moving to a 16-team playoff and what that format would look like. The other big piece of news is there seems to be a groundswell of support to get rid of the weekly College Football Playoff Rankings Show. How would ESPN handle the elimination of this show? Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss how realistic this idea is.Later, it is a big weekend in college football. The biggest individual award in the sport will be given out on Saturday. Indiana's quarterback, Fernando Mendoza,  is the betting favorite to win the Heisman, but the guys think that Vanderbilt's quarterback, Diego Pavia, might make a push to win the award. Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin and Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love are the other two finalists for the prestigious award. Will Indiana or Vanderbilt have its first Heisman trophy winner? Notre Dame Athletic Director Pete Bevacqua was on the Dan Patrick show on Monday and said the ACC's handling of the Playoff situation has done "permanent damage to the relationship." Would Miami finally be ranked ahead of Notre Dame? Could both teams get in and Alabama fall out? Would the ACC have no representative at all? We now have our answers. Conference championship weekend is here! Spots in the College Football Playoff are on the line, and not just for teams in Power Four conferences. Could we see two Group of Five teams in this year? Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey preview what they are most interested in this weekend. First, they preview the matchup between the nation's highest ranked teams. #1 Ohio State faces #2 Indiana for the Big Ten Championship Game. A win for Tech secures a first round bye, but is there a path for BYU to make the Playoff even with a loss in the title game? One of the guys thinks that may be possible. Lastly, they look at the ACC Championship Game and its impact on the CFP. Duke takes on #17 Virginia. Virginia will make the CFP if they win, but Duke coach Manny Diaz thinks that a 7-5 ACC champion Duke team would also make the field. Should Texas A&M be ranked above Indiana? + Big Ten private equity drama gets worse

The second College Football Playoff ranking releases tonight. How dramatic will a shift in the rankings be? There is sure to be some near the bottom of the Top 10 after #8 Texas Tech's dominant win over #7 BYU, but how about the top? After #3 Texas A&M's convincing win at #22 Missouri and #2 Indiana's struggle at Penn State, will the committee jump the Aggies over the Hoosiers? Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss how they think the rankings will play out going forward. Plus, what impact could #16 Vanderbilt have on the rankings this season? What has to fall their way in order to make it into this year's CFP, and how can they make sure they can keep their coach after such success this season? Then, the guys take a look at a new tactic for the coaching carousel: Don't get involved. This is the tactic Wisconsin is taking as they announced that head coach Luke Fickell will remain at the helm next season. The immediate result was an upset of #23 Washington. The guys discuss this decision for Wisconsin and their vow to put more funds into the football program. Will this be enough to boost the future of the team and turn the program towards a winning path? What took them so long to get to this point? The guys also talk about why some schools were able to adapt quickly and other schools struggled to respond to NIL. Hint: Some were prepared, some weren't prepared and some were already well versed in the art of paying players. Later, the drama in the Big Ten continues to heat up amongst discussions about private equity. Board members of various schools are speaking out about their lack of involvement with this decision and their opposition to it being voted through. The American Council of Trustees & Alumni, ACTA, is also now involved. A vote seems to still be upcoming, with the current expectation being that only Michigan and USC's presidents are against the decision. Week 11 has wrapped up and it provided some thrilling finishes for a couple of Top 10 teams. Penn State brought #2 Indiana down to the wire. The undefeated Hoosiers may have suffered their first loss if not for a heroic final drive from Fernando Mendoza. The drive culminated in an unbelievable catch by Omar Cooper Jr., who barely kept his foot in, to score the eventual game winning touchdown with 36 seconds left. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss if such a close game to a struggling Penn State team should create any room for concern with this Indiana team. Then they dive into the other matchup that came down to the final seconds. This one was a Top 20 matchup in the pouring rain between #9 Oregon and #20 Iowa. The home-team Hawkeyes took the lead late. That set the stage for an impressive final drive by Dante Moore and Oregon to kick a game-winning field goal with three seconds remaining. The guys discuss how they feel about Oregon coming off of this win. They also discuss #8 Texas Tech's dominant win over #7 BYU. How do they feel about the Red Raiders going forward? Plus, is there a legitimate chance the ACC could end up with no teams in the College Football Playoff?Later, Ross reports big news coming out of the Big Ten as their discussion about private equity appears to be nearing a decision. Michigan and USC remain steadfast in their opposition to any deal, but a vote is scheduled for November 21st. If Michigan or USC decide not to sign, the rest of the schools in the Big Ten will move along on the deal without them. What could this mean for the future of not only Michigan, but the entirety of the college football landscape? The guys discuss how this could all potentially play out. Then, they look to Week 12. The final few weeks of the regular season are inching closer, which means each game begins to add a little more pressure. The guys look at games that have huge impacts on both conference and playoff races. #11 Texas visits #5 Georgia, #12 Oklahoma plays #4 Alabama and #10 Notre Dame faces off with #24 Pittsburgh. The Ducks have seen some struggles since their loss to #2 Indiana and Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey aren't so sure they can come away from Iowa with a win. Iowa's struggles in the past have been on the offensive side, but this year the Hawkeyes have a much improved offensive attack. Are the Ducks on upset alert, or will this be another notch in their belt as they look to make another CFP appearance. Then, we get an update from Ross' Congressional Minute as he shares the most recent news about the SAFE and Score Acts and explains where this process is trending. It is that time of year again! The time when attention shifts away from the AP Poll and moves over to the College Football Playoff rankings. Tuesday, the College Football Playoff committee released the initial rankings for 2025. Ohio State remained at the top followed by Indiana, Texas A&M and Alabama to round out the top four. One of the most notable rankings was that of two teams who played earlier in the year. Miami, who has been struggling as of recently, came in at 18. That fell well behind a team they beat in Notre Dame who is sitting at 10. Also, the Big 12 appears to be in position to get two teams into the playoff, while the ACC looks like it will be a one-team league. Andy Staples, Steven Godfrey and Ross Dellenger discuss all of the drama and voice their thoughts on all of the attention surrounding this first rendition of the rankings. Plus, the guys take a look at what the bracket would look like if the playoff started today!Later, the guys discuss the top team in the country. The Ohio State Buckeyes. Such a dominant season has not created much drama to talk about for this team, however Andy, Ross and Godfrey look at just how dominant they have been. Is this success due to a lackluster schedule, or is this team on a path to another national title? On the flip side, could the lack of competition hinder Ohio State in the long run as they go on to face far more difficult competition in the College Football Playoff? And, what about their hated rivals, the Michigan Wolverines? Is this the year Ohio State can snap the four-game losing streak, or will Michigan prevail once again? Then, the guys take a look at a team who had similar expectations as Ohio State in the preseason, but their season has gone far differently. The Clemson Tigers. Dabo Swinney's team has struggled tremendously this season and it appears that Swinney's method of coaching may not be holding up in the new era of college football. Is this the beginning of the end for Swinney at Clemson? Should Dabo move on from coaching or just move on from Clemson? Then the guys look at who Penn State should look to hire to be their new head coach. Should they try to poach big names like Alabama's Kalen DeBoer or Nebraska's Matt Rhule, or should they look at one of the hot new names like Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein or Syracuse head coach Fran Brown? The guys discuss what options are on the table.Later, there are more hurdles to now jump over for the Big Ten's attempt to get a private equity deal done. In Ross Dellenger's latest article, he explains why USC is now against signing a private equity deal. Ross is out today, but Andy and Godfrey break down what all is going on and if the Big Ten will, or even should, ever get a private equity deal done. Finally, the guys discuss a few notable topics from what we've been seeing on the field. The college football season is going into its last week of non-conference games for most teams. Many fans may be looking forward to the excitement a conference schedule brings, but the final week of non-con games is still creating plenty to look forward to. One of those games is #18 South Florida visiting #5 Miami. The new darlings of college football have taken the college football world by storm. They began the season taking down previously ranked Boise State, and then last weekend they upset then 13th-ranked Florida in 'The Swamp.' What is it about coach Alex Golesh's team that is leading to this success, and can they keep it going against yet another highly-ranked opponent? These are some of the questions Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey answer. Plus, is there really a path that both USF and Tulane could make the playoff? One of the guys believes so and gives you the exact scenario it could happen. Also in the show, the guys discuss another big matchup of the weekend. This one is a conference matchup as Florida visits #3 LSU. Florida's Billy Napier has set himself directly back on the hot seat after last weekend's upset, but the coach that will be across the field this weekend has come to his defense. LSU's Brian Kelly spoke to the media this week and praised Billy Napier. The guys discuss why Kelly decided to make this move. They also talk about the history of these two teams facing each other and what they see from this matchup. Finally, Andy, Ross and Steven talk about the Big 12 suspending one of their officiating crews after making some egregious mistakes in the Kansas vs. Missouri game last weekend. What do they think about public accountability for refs and the punishment that was handed down? Is this something we could see other conferences do more of to create more transparency? The guys discuss what exactly happened in this situation and how they feel about how the Big 12 handled the situation.Just a few more days until it's game day again.
