Four men, two decades of cartoons, three braincells and a tendency to go completely off topic. If you're looking for facts and well made points, keep moving. If you love cartoons and talking nonsense, then take a seat and put your feet up friend, as we take a look into the crazy world of 80's and 90's cartoons. Brought to you by Stuart, James, Jamie and Kane. Show music by 'dan_ts_inferno' on Instagram.
This week Alvin and the Chipmunks sing us out for our final episode EVER. (unless there is money involved, or beer probably) We manage to hold back the tears as we take a last look at an 80's or 90's cartoon and barely talk about it.. we get distracted talking about food. There is the deciding round of 'Would I lie to you' and LOTS of nonsense. This week we watched Alvin and the Chipmunks Season 1 episode 8(5a) Mr Fabulous. Its honestly been a pleasure to share this with you all, but for now. Thank you and Goodbye.
This week the old kids on the block watch the 'New Kids On The Block' and its a shocker! This famously famous bad cartoon gets the squad juices flowing in an episode chosen by Jamie because he likes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! yes this weeks choice is THAT tenuous as we watched S01E04 "Cowa-BONK-a"!! We discuss how the cartoon representations of Mick, Chad, Huey and Albert ( I watched it for 20 minues and researched this cartoon and I still don't know their names!) really dont add much. As we approach the END of BTP we still legally have to talk nonsense and do a quiz and stuff and try to offend at least someone listening so enjoy all of that in this weeks fantastic episode.
The star of this week's award-winning podcast has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The protagonist on this nationally acclaimed ear organism of an episode has squared off against both the Avengers and the Fantastic Four… Gojira, Kaiju, the king of the monsters, gorilla whale, big mother sticker with much junk in the truck… Whatever you want to call him (*oh shoot) (*he/she/it/plant/Mars Bar/artificial limb…fook knows what the correct pro-noun is currently), one thing we can all agree on…Godzilla takes shits bigger than Kane's nose…Sorry bro. Cheap shot. This week it is James's choice, and he has picked the 90's cartoon; ‘Godzilla: The Series'. This pretty much picks up where the 90's film finished off. James did a James this week and we all watched different episodes of the series. Some of us watched, ‘An Early Frost' and some of us reviewed ‘Web Site'. We are as well prepared as Godzilla doing a Dr. Pepper advert. You read that correctly. I've got a few words to play with so I'm doing it…: Godzilla was originally going to be a giant, mutated octopus called Dan. Godzilla is a cross between a Tyrannosaurus, an Iguanodon, a Stegosaurus, and alligator and Dale Winton. Facts. Whilst I am at it, palaeontologist Mike P Taylor, claims that the limb cartilage in a Godzilla-sized animal would be crushed “like over-ripe watermelons” by its own body weight and therefor the G-man could never exist. Fuck you, Mike. I bet the P stands for twat. Have a listen to the pod for the usual bollocks, ‘would you rather', ‘would I lie to you' and all that other jazz. If you like a professional podcast, I wouldn't bother with this. If you don't care about quality but love a ‘little person' joke, then pull up a chair.
Its T time fools! This Yorkshire based cartoon involves Mr T a character who shows people the correct way to make a cuppa tea! (Get pot, hot water to warm, empty, add tea, hot water, leave 2 mins 45 seconds, pour into cup with milk already in). Actually it's THE Mister T with an import message on avoiding child kidnappin molestors! Dont eat a hamburger if two strange adults come up to you and offer it. Its a serious subject, but a not very serious episode as you would expect from us lot. All our usual fantastic features are here as we discuss Mister T S01E23 "Mystery of the stranger"
Hello everyone, By The Power Squad member Kane here….. I've been told I have to write a blurb for this episode and truth be told, I'd had a few too many whiskeys during this recording and I don't remember very much of it. So it goes without saying, listen at your own risk! Oh, we were supposed to be reviewing the loony tunes 90s hit Taz-Mania, episode 45a Young Taz's fancy. I can only presume we have a deep discussion about Taz's influence on 90s culture with all the other usual By The Power classic segments such as ‘would I lie to you?' And ‘Would you rather'. Enjoy!
H-H-H-H Hit it! 1992. What a Dippy Dawg dang dope year. Jeffrey Dahmer went to prison, Time Magazine's ‘Person of the Year' was Bill Clinton, Aladdin was the highest-grossing film of the year, Stu mastered his argument skills, Kane was twenty years off being born, Jamie became a member of the Oompa Loompa fan club and James fingered his first bird. And more importantly… Goof Troop – the animated TV series came out. You know the one…dopey, furry git with funny teeth? Nooooo…Not Ken Dodd!!! No tickle sticks in this cartoon. Or maybe there is? It would certainly explain a lot. This cartoon stars the one and only Disney G man himself – Goofy, and his son, Max as they get into all kinds of shenanigans in Spoonerville. Like father, like son, you're always number one… (when you know you know). Fact. According to Pinto Colvig, the original voice artist for the character, Goofy was inspired by a "grinny, half-baked village nitwit" from his hometown of Jacksonville. Brilliant. The cartoon that we all watched in advance of recording the award winning and globally recognised podcast was – ‘E=MC Goof'. Ok Power Squad – It's time to report to the Goof Troop. La-doop-a-loo bop boppa doo bop! Yeah!
"Good news everyone". This week we are watching future Simpsons, no Simpurama , no Futurama. Damn this sexy learning difficulty. From apartment 1bdi to robot hell just like an episode of 'By the Power' this cartoon has it all. Sex, space, love and heart ache (that poor little dog). So strap in and let's blast off. 10, 9 8-1 We watched the Episode 'Hell is other robots' S01E09
A real gweechie episode this week as the squad go back to school to watch this 1986 single season show. Doyle and Aimee travel from earth and meet a pretty diverse bunch of aliens in the Chris Columbus ( you know him! Home Alone, Gremlins, Goonies, Harry Potter!) Cartoon. We study hard to pass a quiz, discuss food at lunch break and at home time argue about Robots Vs Aliens in our 'Would you Rather'. We watched episode 8 the Bikini filled "Beach Blanket Blowup".
“He's got a powerful stink, and he don't like pink. Durango Doug. He's got a rock-hard head, and he eats stale bread. Durango Doug.” In this week's episode, the Power Squad review the 90s Nickelodeon hit show 'Doug'. This recording has everything you can expect from a classic 'By the Power' Podcast, we discuss the difference in toilets around the world, the best way to make gravy, cartoons based around the explorer Christopher Columbus and we even manage to have a quick chat about ‘Doug'. We reviewed the episode ‘Doug: Way Out West' Season 4 Episode 12B.
This week Seymour Krelborn puts his seed in a pot and a giant sharp toothed man eating monster appears. Its every 13 year olds nightmare in this cartoon version of the black comedy movie from 1960 (yup that was news to us too! the 1982 one IS better though) We imagine man eating plants and plant eating mans! which is worse? spoiler its the vegans! We quiz, quip and quoth all in quadraphonic audio so dont miss a moment with this amazing quad squad as we discuss 'Little Shop' Episode 11 'Walk like a nerd'.
Chiba chiba sohpa? The Power Squad (that's us four sexy badgers) were all set and ready to record another globally acclaimed and award winning podcast when the bulbs of light hit us… Today is the 4th May, or May the 4th…something that gets discussed on this bloody great ear juice of a listen. Either way, it's Star Wars day bayyyybayyyyyy. And so….last minute change of plans. ‘Let's cover an 80's/90's Star Wars cartoon' and we have already covered Droids. Stop and sing long time “Trouble again…du du du…trouble again”. If that makes no sense, go right now and listen to the Droids theme and then come back and tell us how we have wasted you time. Lol. I hate Lol but continue to write lol. Hang about…Does Lol have a capitol L? It does now. Right - what do you get if you say wookie backwards? Ewok. This week we cover: ‘Star Wars: Ewoks'. The series centers on the adventures of the Ewok, Wicket W. Warrick and his friends on the forest moon of Endor before the events of the original Star Wars film. The episode we ‘loosely' cover is ‘Battle for the Sun Star' (E12 S2). This is also available on Disney+ who I am informed is going to be the next By The Power sponsor. As usual you have 5 minutes of cartoon talk and 55 minutes of ‘Would you rather', the hit segment ‘Would I lie to you', conversation about food, Talk about Batman and a chat about Stu's fantasy of sticking his man lightsaber in a small, furry, mammaloid biped. Oh and by the way, we speak some badass Ewokese. ‘Chiba chiba sohpa?' translates as - "Hide and then come out chopping heads?". Yep. #MayThe4thBeWithYou
The Moronic four discuss the Bionic Six, and there can be only one outcome. And as expected its an episode filled with nonsense, jokes, arguments, trivia and a would you rather that unbelievably ISN'T about Bionic Dicks. This 80's cartoon based heavily on The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman has all of the Power Squad in agreement as we watched episode 2 from Season 1 "Enter the Bunji".
In this episode we take a look at Brave Starr, the gun toting, bear lifting, Eagle seeing, wolf hearing, pooooma racing Marshall who takes no prisoners. Well except for the guys he arrests. They are his prisoners. OK so in this episode we take a look at Brave Starr, the gun toting, bear lifting, Eagle seeing, wolf hearing pooooma racing Marshall who takes prisoners. Not since seeing Zammo from Grange Hill (if you know you know) have I ever been this put off taking drugs. So grab your kids and settle down for a cautionary tale about drugs, addiction, and a talking horse. The episode we watched was BraveStarr S01E26 'The Price'
In this episode of By The Power, we are ‘loosely' covering the ‘Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog'. The cartoon is based on the classic video game Sonic the Hedgehog and is one of three different Sonic cartoons produced in the 90s and for some reason, we chose to cover the lowest ranked of the three. Listen to one hours' worth of BTP fun where we have a ‘dramatic' result in ‘would I lie to you', cover all the usual By The Power discussion points and a lot of chat about Tails. The BTP team watched ‘'Tails in Charge'' Season 1 episode 26. Sonic Sez, ‘'Give the By The Power podcast a 5 star review''
Ok you monkey paw loving, berry scrubbing little sausages; sing along with me now… “Muppet Babies, we make our dreams come trueeeeee. Muppet Babies, we'll do the same for youuuuuu” That's right, this week we are covering X-Men…Just kidding of course. Lol as the kids say, Wocka Wocka as we say. This week we are ‘loosely' covering (and I mean loosely covering) Muppet Babies. Waving arms wildly and shouting "Yaaaay!" is optional. Not the 2018 version that includes that stupid a$$ penguin called Summer. We're old school baybayyyyyyyy!!! We are covering the 1984 classic that stars Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Scooter, Skeeter, Rowlf the Dog (who looks very similar to ‘By The Power' host James) and Gonzo. The episode we cover is Season 1 Episode 12 – ‘from a galaxy far, far away'. Jamie dropped a bit of a blooper here as he thought this was the Star Wars Muppet Babies episode. It wasn't but it does have a koala in it so kind of close… Listen in for the usual cartoony nonsense, the hit quiz ‘would I lie to you', a classic ‘would you rather' and the terrible segment ‘which goody would you kill and how'. Jeez Louise…It's no wonder we can't get a sponsor. Give us all the monies.
Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you? Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you? We review an absolute classic the CARTOON show COPS (Central Organization of Police Specialists) from 1984. In an arresting episode of BTP, we charge headlong into 'would I lie to you', murdering cartoon characters, asking ridiculous questions and everything else you love from the squad. We watched "The case of the missing memory" which is episode 55 from the second season.
It' s Canadian Cartoon week and we are watching ‘The raccoons'! The fantastic Bert, his married roommates, an evil aardvark, three little pigs, a dog another aardvark and multiple bears. Its a truly stacked week and we make things even more complicated by watching an episode involving dreams and time travel, to quote James directly “Am I watching the right thing? I don't understand what's happening?”. He doesn't! Jamie doesn't! Does anyone? Is this how people feel when they listen to us?! Lots more in this episode with your very favourite BTP member Kane, our usual features and a special little surprise. This week we watched The Raccoons Season 2 Episode 10 'Time trap'.
Tonight we discuss a Cartoon Network classic, its one of the longest running cartoons they have produced so it must be good! right? RIGHT!! The BTP squad have a potentially controversial opinion on this one as we discuss the good bad and ugly of the three Eddie's. We lighten things up with our popular features and really light it up when we discuss this weeks would you rather. Kane provides the heavy lifting this week, just leaving the hosting to Stu, the jokes to James and the angry ranting to Jamie. This week we watched Ed' Edd N Eddy So4E02 'An Ed is born'.
In a slightly later than usual release we for the second time ever review and discuss a cartoon that none of us had ever seen. Jamie chose this one because he is very proud of his own little my pet monster. Its a cartoon by Nelvana who have quietly released some really good cartoons since the 1970's and at least one live action blockbuster, we discuss this and take the time to squeeze in our regular features. And at no point do we discuss 100 dicks or inflatable dolls. This week we watched 'My Pet Monster' S01E07.
Welcome to a brand new season of 'By the Power'! and for our 51st episode its a hugely popular cartoon for lots of very good reasons. We discuss what some of us consider to be the best version of Batman, a beautifully animated cartoon which is almost certainly in Jamie's top five cartoons ever. AND as its a new season we have a brand new quiz, Brand new features and the same old mix of nonsense and fun we hope you all love. This week we watched '"Almost Got 'Im' " which was episode 46 from Season 1 of Batman: the Animated Series.
Its the Final Episode of Season 2 of By The Power, your number 1 most loved podcast! And this week Stu chooses his number 1.. 'Gadget'.. and the rest of the Rescue Rangers too. So sit down and open a Cola as we discuss episode 14 from season 2 "The Case of the Cola Cult". This episode of BTP is extra cheesy and stuffed full of fun as we hit our last ever "whose line was it anyway" and tease whats coming in season 3 (its going to start off a bit dark). Thanks to everyone who listened during Season 2 from Stu, James, Jamie and Kane.
Robots! Lions! ROBOT LIONS! Robot Lions that combine into a bigger Robot Lion.. What's not to love in this weeks cartoon VOLTRON. We discuss the history of giant robots in anime and cartoons, have fun thinking about how much fun it would be becoming the leg and ask why in these cartoons dont they just become the giant robot at the start! When Voltron was adapted for US audiences they famously removed scenes depicting death, religion, sex and violence. We dont remove any of that from our episodes! BTP 1 - Voltron 0. All of our usual fun and games are here as we get close to the end of this season. We watched the episode 'Voltron Vs Voltron' Season 1 Episode 44.
You like Tomayto! I like Tomarto! Tomayto! Tomarto! Tomayto! Tomarto! Lets call the whole thing off.. Worry not listeners we did not call it off, instead we dived into a vegetable disaster of an episode. A kids cartoon based on a 1978 horror movie parody 'The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", we watched the very first episode "Give a little whistle". We chat about sexy Toms.. little Toms.. Furry Toms and everything in between. There is our usual quiz moment, an amazing joke, and discuss a problem at the BTP studio! "A problem at the studio, whats that?" you ask? Well its the place we all sit with our microphones and record the podcast of course! but I'm not sure thats important right now. So grab those earphones, settle down in bed and let the BTP squad help you sleep...
We do love it when Animals that think they are humans fight bad guys! We really love it when there are Dinosaurs in our cartoons. We really REALLY love it when its as insane as Swat Kats! We give this cartoon a very solid score, we quiz one another on our favourite cartoon animals, ask arguably the worst 'would you rather' so far. And James and Jamie demonstrate why we are such a hit podcast! This week we watched Episode one of season one of Swat Kats.
If the 'By The Power' squad were to be in a cartoon I think it would be Defenders of the earth, but which characters would we be? Listen and find out! If that doesn't make you mash the play button then how about another round of 'Whose line was it anyway'.. or an amazing 'Would you rather'.. a James joke or a Kane fact! this weeks episode has it all! This week we watched the episode "The Sleeper Awakes" we rate it and discuss the all powerful literally unstoppable Annihilation robot.
When a super-suit lands on a worm and that worm mutates into a bigger worm with eyes.. you know your in for a treat, that's what I always say! This week let's take in a great video game that launched a popular cartoon, more video games and a new season later this year. We also have a special one off new quiz 'Who Worms to be a Millionaire' which is exactly as fun as it sounds. All the usual stuff and nonsense and a last 10 minutes that might make you end the podcast early.. but DON'T as you will miss James telling possibly the best joke of the year so far. This week we watched Earthworm Jim S01E05 - "Conqueror Worm".
In an episode about shoes that are people we have questions! And as its 'By the Power' you're listening to you wont be surprised that a large number of them involve romantic relations with shoes. We do also discuss the actual cartoon that made its way with a dubbed version to the USA and 60+ other countries too, It must be good then right... RIGHT!? We had a lot of fun and tried not to tread over any old ground as we watched Shoe People episode 1 and 2 of series/season 1. Enjoy the pod.
The Moomins are a brilliantly weird hippo-ish looking family that star in some of the best cartoons available. This must be true as since 1959 there have been 14 entirely different programmes created in 8 countries. We watched 'Moomin' The 1990 Japanese made version and we didnt all love it.. However we did love wondering whats so special about the Moomins. And as usual the cartoon is an excuse to talk nonsense and have some fun. This week we watched 'Moomins' S01E60 'The Terrible Little My'.
Thunder Thunder Thunder Thundercats. We make it through an entire episode without any pussy euphemisms* and we watched episode 1 which has naked Thundercats! AND Cheetara. This classic is Stu's choice and it receives the highest score of any cartoon we have reviewed, take a listen to find out why we enjoyed it so much. We have the latest round of our quote quiz, can James continue his come back? will Kane get another point..ever? This week we watched Thundercats season 1 episode 1. *On reflection I'm pretty sure there were bound to be pussy euphemisms so ignore that claim.
Time for a break from the oldies by looking at a more modern cartoon than many we have talked about, which is unsurprising as its chosen by Baby Kane. Its also another chance to get in the Christmas mood as the Episode we watched was 'Yes Mikey, Santa does shave'. We get all nostalgic about our own memories of Santa and when we found out the truth! (That Santa is very hard working and couldn't do it all without Mrs Claus and the wonderful Elves) We gift each other plenty of abuse this week as we put our feet in front of a roaring fire, drink some mulled wine and talk about this fantastic cartoon. We watched Recess Season 3 Episode 6 'Yes Mikey, Santa does shave'.
Before Jurassic Park there was Dino Riders, Men taming beasts to serve as their personal vehicles... But with LASERS! Lots of LASERS! and Chaps (the ones you wear) and some casual stereotypes. Jamie chooses a cartoon of which he has very fond memories, but he may be alone with that opinion. We ride along with him and and take another stab at a 'whose line was it anyway', then break for a would you rather and close with a James CLASSIC joke. Theres lots more nonsense in between including Jamie trying a new quiz out 'Dinosaur or not' (SPOILER- its a one and done, thank the gods) Stu throws a bit of a wobbly about it and Kane points out his house is old, almost as old as the Dinosaurs. We watched Episode 13 of the first and only season 'One to Lead us'.
Gotta catch em all! then make them fight each other for sport! Pokemon!! James worries about Pokemon well being this week in what is a surprisingly christmassy episode. Listen to find out if Stu can hold on to his lead in Jamies quiz 'whose line was it anyway?', stay until the end to hear if James can finally get a full joke out uncut, and learn what the squad would do with millions of pounds. Also did you know Kane lives in an old house a very old house and he almost tells us how old it actually is! Finally we almost get serious for a moment as we talk about the controversial Pokemon 'Jynx' star of the episode we watched this week So2E65 "Holiday Hi-Jynx"
Bucky! Captain Bucky O'Hare! It's time for one more anthropomorphic cartoon starring a Rabbit, Cat, Baboon, Duck, Gator and Toads lots of Toads! We see if Stu can keep his lead in Jamies fantastic quiz 'whose line was it anyway?'. Jamie shares some pun filled jokes as we discuss a cartoon that also loves its puns and is heavily influenced by all of the sci fi that came before it. Kane shares his memories of playing with his Bucky toys as a child and this weeks would you rather tries to distract us from the inevitable sexy animal discussions (but fails). This week we watched 'Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars' S02E02.
Ox Tales.. WooHoo, its a real Ox blur this week as Ollie and his alliterative (according to Jamie) animal pals make the Power squad wonder what on earth is going on. Exploding Elephants, angry Alligators, hungry Hippos?? and mad Moles do not do it for all of the team this week. Its our first cartoon based on a dutch comic strip and our own Netherlands resident Kane talks wooden shoes and sticking your finger in a dyke and we even let him take a bathroom break as we discuss our least favourite jobs. We finish with the best James joke yet wonder how we are still able to get the podcast published with the jokes he shares. This week we watched Ox Tales Episodes 3 and 4 'Emergency Vet' and 'Holy Moley'.
Avengers Assemble, its the most powerful team ever assembled but they're penguins. Its time for a further British cartoon with birds.. why is it always birds! or turtles.. or mice.. or sharks! The squad really enjoyed this episode, join us to find out why we voted it highly and what score it received. Listen to Jamie get a little angry and Kane enjoying himself a little too much while James and Stu remain pretty sceptical. Its also an Animal themed would you rather and can Stu stay in the lead in the worlds greatest podcast quiz 'whose line was it anyway'. This week we watched Avenger Penguins episode 'Computer Chaos', S01E05
Castle Duckula. Home for many centuries to a terrible dynasty of vicious vampire ducks. The counts of Duckula! Is there anything more frightening? other than the obvious answer of Vegans? Its Brit cartoon time once again this week and its stuffed with Blood and Tomato Sauce just in time for Halloween. It's a frightfully good episode as Stu, James, Jamie and Kane chat about the horrors of Veganism, Bird Murder, Walking on the moon and if the end of show James joke is actually funny. This week we watched Episode S01E11 "The Ghost of McCastle McDuckula" Happy Halloween Power Squad
The alien world of Mer is being devoured by an evil substance known as Dark Water. Only Ren, can stop it by finding the lost Thirteen Treasures of Rule!, Stimpy would be no help at all. If you like your cartoons starring characters that can't look you in the eye then you are going to love this Hanna-Barbera 'classic', We give it a good old rating. This week we also discuss Hot Dog murders, Hang Glider hanging, say hello to Hello Kitty and wonder if James is planning on getting everything wrong tonight. Our award winning quiz is present and we even squeeze in some food chat. The episode we watched was S01E13 The Dark Dweller.
We hope you are hungry as we start this episode wondering about the squads favourite American foods. We then travel south and back about 500 years to discuss one of Stuart's childhood passions 'Mysterious Cities of Gold'. He compares it to a kids version of 'LOST' and the rest of the team dont quite agree. We play another round of the worlds best podcast quiz, there is a would you rather thats cartoon influenced and the usual arguing and bad joke telling that it seems Jamie and James are fighting over. The episode we watched was S01E17, and yes it has boobies! Rock hard ones.
This weeks episode of By the Power is presented by Steven Spielberg! or at least the cartoon we are covering is.. Freakazoid is a zany cartoon made by the guy who did batman and the folks behind Animaniacs so its no real suprise that its insane with a little touch of a dark side. And that description also fits the BTP squad pretty well. Join us this episode for our regular features, our irregular features and if you sent us an email to see if that was featured. The episode we watched was from Season 2 and its episode 2 'The Freakazoid'. Enjoy the show now I have to fly "Avoossssshhhvvvvee Dezsvvvvooshshhshhhhzzzhh Dezzshevshhvveedeesshhshsh Shheeoooooshve Sheeevzzde Deshvvvsheezzzzezeshov Dizzzsheeeveezshshshshszzvv Vshshszzeeszesh"
It's time for another super (long) episode from the ‘By The Power Squad' as Stuart, James, Jamie and Kane discuss Spider-man.. The one from 1994. We ask what's going on with Venom's lips?! admire the Aerosmith linked theme, score the episode and reminisce about one of the best marvel cartoons of the 90's (“X-Men was better” - Stu). We have a fantastic ‘Would you rather' and a controversially scored episode of everyone's favourite quiz ‘Whose line was it anyway'. All that and Jamie describes how he has been getting busy this week, tells an amazing spider-man joke or two whilst Kane has a bone to pick with James. AND there is a bonus 20 minute Spider-man quiz at the end! For free. This week we watched ‘Spider-Man' (1994) Episode ‘The Alien Costume: Part 3'.
Its teeny tiny Bear time in a cartoon this week that many have probably forgotten ever existed. But not James he never forgets! so bear with us as we wonder what on earth he was thinking, and paws for thought to contemplate a James theory! We try to identify a quote in the stunning podcast quiz taking the world by storm "whose line was it anyway?" and chat about a deep and insightful would you rather. As always we of course rate and discuss the episode we watched witch was from Series one and its Episode one:- "Stupid tiny bears that are slightly racist do stuff for 20 minutes which is way too long and it makes no sense and god its bad. who chose this cartoon anyway?" or its official title "The big spill".
The Transformers! The Trans-Formers.. Transformers.. Robots in disguise. In a rather Highbrow episode that's more than meets the eye we chat about everyones favourite bots, the tension Ratchets up a notch in another guess the quote quiz and it's Red Alert time when it comes to making up Transformers jokes. For a Mega(tron) 'would you rather' we ask which is better metal or flesh and blood. In a sad departure for season 2 there are no pigeons but we hope you dont Slag us off and can still enjoy the episode without Hounding us about it. The episode we watched was S01E14 "Heavy Metal War"
"Coo Coo Ka Choo" possibly goes down as one of the funniest ever punchlines! Jamie discusses this joke and explains the deep storytelling behind this weeks Cartoon 'Hey Arnold!' episode 'The Pigeon Man'. Yes its another cartoon involving pigeons! this time chosen by Kane who scores the Episode VERY highly, and he also notices a flaw in James' plan to communicate with his fellow humans.. Yes thats right James is back and so are the rest of the squad with all our (slightly rusty after the enforced break) nonsense, a 'Would you Rather', another award winning episode of our game show 'who's line is it' and we end the episode with possibly the funniest joke I have ever heard. This weeks episode was Hey Arnold, The Pigeon Man S01 E14b
The Raggy Dolls! This week an awkward group of misfits and weirdos who get rejected for being different talk about this classic British cartoon starring some weird dolls. Jamie picked an episode starring a Pigeon, Stu can talk to Pigeons and based on next weeks cartoon choice Kane may be a Pigeon Fancier. After discussing the cartoon rather briefly, the boys invent a new type of doll, pitch some game show ideas and choose their preferred host who continues to ignore them on twitter.. And our Season 2 features make another show stopping appearance including the funniest joke James has ever told. This week we watched 'The Raggy Dolls' Season 1 Episode 3 'The Pigeon Race'.
The BTP squad have made it to a second season.. Expect a more mature serious show that takes an intellectual look at 80's animated media. In this Powerfully Extreme 'Centurions' episode we talk about an absolutely classic cartoon and toy combo, have a brand new feature or two, rate the episode 'Cyborg Centurion' and discuss Northern Sheep, peeing on ourselves and how James would be fine with wearing one pair of Underwear a week. So not so serious really as we quickly devolve into more of our patented nonsense and mickey taking that we have become "famous" for. The episode we watched and Rated was S01E51 of Centurions 'Cyborg Centurion'
Firstly a BIG Thank You! to all our listeners for coming with us on this journey as we reach the end of our first season. In the least far fetched cartoon we have seen this series we let James describe each gun in the episode, hear about just how tough doors are and carefully tie on our headbands while trying to avoid looking like we are enjoying it too much. Kane will not stop arguing with Jamie about how good Rambo is as we give it a rating that could mean its the highest scoring this season.. If only someone were remembering to keep a track of the scores we would probably know for definite. The episode we watched this week was S01E35 'The Iron Mask'. As its our final episode of Season 1 we have released a special Bonus Episode thats out now where we watch episode one of the new He-Man series 'Masters of the Universe: Revelation'
Nap time is over for the BTP squad as we discuss a belter of a cartoon its Rugrats. Kane chose the cartoon this week as he fondly remembers watching Rugrats in Paris.. we learn that when Kane got old enough it was Jamie that introduced him to alcohol in a fairly extreme but kind of expected way. We decide if Dogs or Babies are better in a thought provoking 'Would you rather' and learn about James' deep love for trains and everyone else's preferred positions. We watched Rugrats season 3 Episode 14 "Angelica Breaks a Leg".
This week we discuss one of the three cartoons with Bears in according to Jamie! (well according to an article he read..) After realising that's nonsense we then learn the Gummi Bear Juice Recipe.. Squeeze in a theory and ask a 'Would you rather' that splits the BTP squad. We also learn James can't tell OR smell the time. The Episode most of us watched this week was S01E13 Light Makes Right.
A Podcast about a cartoon about a 'rude' dog on sports clothes. In this weeks episode we get "In the mood to be rude"... mostly to James. His late arrival forces us to consider what we love about James and just what we can rely on him for. Then we discuss his replacement, but fortunately he does arrive and explains the plot of this weeks episode... sort of. Ironically Rude Dog himself is pretty nice especially to the Dweebs. We chat about the design of this cartoon and we are pretty split on the style, fair to say its love it or hate it (But we all love the Dweebs!). Listen in for a fully packed episode of fun that will soothe your ears and brain beautifully. This week we watched episode 3 - "No Dweebs Aloud / Ding-a-Ling Kitty".
Hello there again, This week we travel to a Galaxy far far away and discus the 1985 Star Wars cartoon 'Droids', and as Stuart Copeland from 'The Police' once sang.. "Steppin' softly in a danger zone No weapon in my hand It's just this brain, designed by man It's got me in trouble again In trouble again" The Power Squad get in trouble discussing an episode that has everyone convinced Stu has bad taste when it comes to giving ratings, and that James can't be relied on to do the one thing he was supposed to... so Jamie steps in with a classic Jamie 'Would you rather'. (At this point even we aren't sure if thats a good thing or not!) Kane dresses up as Boba Fett for the recording but takes no prisoners this week as he tries to hold the Power squad to account. This week the episode we watched was episode 4 season 1 "A Race to the Finish". This is a fixed version that has the audio of the whole Power Squad, not just James! (we are sorry to anyone who had to listen to that).
This weeks episode has it all! Stuffing Sandwiches! Lasagne Sandwiches and more foods for insane people. We talk Plant Based baddies, if you eat one of the Monster Minds are you still Vegetarian? Jamie has a mini melt down when ratings are discussed and he's ranting about Jayce and its writing as well. The rest of the squad are pretty relaxed discussing the boy with the streak and his journey to find his dad... Stu tries to make it a non filthy 'Would you rather" and almost manages it.. for a few minutes at least. This week we watched Episode 42 'Deadly Reflections'.
