Send us a textIf you're reading this, chances are you grew up with cartoons. We all grabbed a bowl of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs on Saturday mornings, and sat cross-legged in front of our family TVs as kids to watch generation-defining 'toons — ranging from Bugs Bunny to My Little Pony to He-Man. But at some point, "cartoons" crossed a tipping point and became "animation." The Flintstones, The Smurfs and Scooby-Doo evolved into South Park, Ren & Stimpy and The Simpsons. And just like that, cartoons weren't just for kids anymore. So to what do we attribute the staying power of animation? Is it nostalgia? Is it that we embrace our entertainment growing along with us? How did we get from Steamboat Willie to Pickle Rick? Pop this particularly wide-ranging edition of FYF into your earholes, and kick it around with the boys.
Show notes: For this episode I attended the first ever MidSouth Mega Con at the Memphis Sports & Event Center located in the Memphis Fairgrounds. I was at this inaugural con to man the Mid-South Cartoonists Association and record a few interviews over the holiday weekend. I got to talk toons with local artists including Ryan Ladner, Shane Luttrell, That Katie Jones, Peter Melonas, Dr. Kevin Thorn, MSCA president Kevin L. Williams, and MCFC co-organizer/"Geek Tank Radio" co-host Brandon Olmstead. Kev brought along some of his Muppet friends- Kermit, Fozzie, and Grover. We handed out a lot of MSCA stickers and postcards, and even sold a few zines! There was lots of great cosplay, including our table neighbors The 731 Ghostbusters and Star Trek fan group Station Shelby. We loved getting t meet the amazing animals from the Soft Landings of Tennessee waterfowl rescue, and the awesomely chill pup from the GameOver Arcade in Southaven, MS. We also got to meet actors Reb Brown/Captain America, Sean Patrick Flanery/Young Indiana Jones, and legendary voice actor Billy West/Ren & Stimpy. (You can see pics on our MSCA Facebook page.)The space was huge, clean, and had great lighting and A/C. There's plenty of room for this con to expand for next year. The Memphis weather was definitely frightful outside, but it was dry and comfortable inside. This fall Memphis Comic Expo will be at this same event center in September. I'll have a table at DonnieCon for the first time in a few years. Between the pandemic, travel, and other show commitments I haven't been able to table there since probably 2018 at the AgCenter. Looking forward to MCX being at this new location. This Saturday, May 31st is the third annual Memphis Libraries Comic Con at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library - 3030 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38111. I'll be set up at this free event along with several MSCA members 10am-3pm. GOH is Chris Parnell. Oh, our next monthly dinner gathering at Garibaldi's Pizza is this Tuesday, June 3rd from 6-8pm, and our deadline to turn in art for next month's art show at Playhouse on the Square. Selección musical: 🎶 The Twelve Days of Yaksmas, de Ren & Stimpy's Crock O' Christmas 🎶 Christmas, de The Who
Selección musical: 🎶 The Twelve Days of Yaksmas, de Ren & Stimpy's Crock O' Christmas 🎶 Orai wan fa Christmas (All I want for Christmas) karaoke fail
Selección musical: 🎶 The Twelve Days of Yaksmas, de Ren & Stimpy's Crock O' Christmas 🎶 Last Christmas, Metal cover de Leo Moracchioli
Selección musical: 🎶 The Twelve Days of Yaksmas, de Ren & Stimpy's Crock O' Christmas 🎶 Happy New Year, de Lightnin' Hopkins
Para la ocasión tenemos aquí nombres como Dave Gibbons, Sean Phillips, Jamie Delano, David Lloyd, Brian Azzarello, Eddie Campbell y otros Selección musical: 🎶 The Twelve Days of Yaksmas, de Ren & Stimpy's Crock O' Christmas 🎶 What Are You Doing New Year's Eve, de Ella Fitzgerald
Selección musical: 🎶 The Twelve Days of Yaksmas, de Ren & Stimpy's Crock O' Christmas 🎶 Villancicore, de Me fritos and The gimme me cheetos
Selección musical: 🎶 The Twelve Days of Yaksmas, de Ren & Stimpy's Crock O' Christmas 🎶 Hard Candy Christmas, de Dolly Parton
Selección musical: 🎶 The Twelve Days of Yaksmas, de Ren & Stimpy's Crock O' Christmas 🎶 Princess Leia's Life Day song (Star Wars Holiday Special 1978)
¡Feliz Navidad! Selección musical: 🎶 The Twelve Days of Yaksmas, de Ren & Stimpy's Crock O' Christmas 🎶 Krampus (Carol of the METAL BELLS), de Hada Bicho

If you have any funny military stories of your own that you would like to share, drop us a line at:stories@cammocomedy.com or Leave a voicemail at (531) 222-6146 Sadly, the voicemail will only record in 2 minute blocksWe are here to make you laugh, but behind this there is the imbedded philosophy of, "No One Left Behind." Sadly, 22 vets per day commit suicide, approximately 67,500 vets are homeless and thousands struggle with everyday life after service. What we hope to accomplish is providing a fun place to gather that will have a similar feel to the conversations that happen at the VFW or American Legion between vets. Since the latest generations of vets are not really going to these places anymore, we are making it happen online. We believe that the sense of community will help some who struggle, while providing stories about the good times that we can all laugh at!An additional part of this show is capturing the oral history of the military over the past few decades, so if you happen to know a veteran who served during WW2, Korean War or Vietnam eras, we would love to hear from them. Obviously, we want to hear stories from all eras, but we have special respect for the older generations.

Presenting episode 112 of the Skwigly Animation Podcast! In this episode we welcome back director Robert Morgan, whose live-action/animation hybrid horror feature film 'Stopmotion' is released on Shudder this month. Starring Aisling Franciosi as haunted stop-motion animator Ella Blake alongside Stella Gonet and Tom York, Stopmotion is written by Robert Morgan with Robin King and recently enjoyed a festival run where it picked up the award for Best Director at Fantastic Fest and the Special Jury Award at Sitges. Filmed in live-action combined with Robert Morgan's signature brand of nightmarish puppet design and uncanny stop-motion animation, the film expands on a multi-award-winning legacy of (mostly) animated horror shorts that include The Man in the Lower Left Hand Corner of the Photograph, The Cat With Hands, The Separation, Invocation and Bobby Yeah, the latter picking up a BAFTA nomination for Animated Short in 2012. Morgan's body of work also includes contributions to YouTube phenomenon Don't Hug Me I'm Scared and the feature films The ABCs of Death 2 and To Dust, as well as the tribute films Belial's Dream and Tomorrow I Will Be Dirt, created for Arrow's BD releases of cult horror classics Basket Case and Schramm respectively. Also discussed: Festival reports from Anima Brussels, Animation Dingle and Cardiff Animation Festival, an overview of some of the exciting projects coming out of the Irish animation sector, 25 years of Cartoon Saloon, the BFI's upcoming 'Stop-Motion' season curated by Justin Johnson, 'Ren & Stimpy' reboot leaks and the bizarre fate of 'Coyote Vs. Acme'. Presented by Ben Mitchell and Steve Henderson Interview conducted by Ben Mitchell Edited, produced and music by Ben Mitchell
