We are kicking the new year off with a trip down memory lane, as we have some nostalgic childhood picks for you! Samantha recommends Lois Lowry's novel The Giver, Indy revisits the animated Transformers movie, and we get ready to think pink with next week's big watch; Barbie! I Love This You Should Too is hosted by Samantha & Indy Randhawa The Giver is a 1993 American young adult dystopian novel written by Lois Lowry, set in a society which at first appears to be utopian but is revealed to be dystopian as the story progresses. In the novel, the society has taken away pain and strife by converting to "Sameness", a plan that has also eradicated emotional depth from their lives. In an effort to preserve order, the society also lacks any color, climate, terrain, and a true sense of equality. The protagonist of the story, a 12-year-old boy named Jonas, is selected to inherit the position of Receiver of Memory, the person who stores all the memories of the time before Sameness. Jonas struggles with concepts of the new emotions and things introduced to him, and whether they are inherently good, evil, or in between, and whether it is possible to have one without the other. The Giver won the 1994 Newbery Medal and has sold more than 12 million copies worldwide. The Transformers: The Movie is a 1986 animated science fiction action film based on the Transformers television series. It was released in North America on August 8, 1986, and in the United Kingdom on December 12, 1986.[8] It was co-produced and directed by Nelson Shin, who also produced the television series. The screenplay was written by Ron Friedman, who created Bionic Six a year later. The film features the voices of Eric Idle, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Casey Kasem, Robert Stack, Lionel Stander, John Moschitta Jr., Scatman Crothers, Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, and Orson Welles, who died 10 months before the film's release, in his final film role. The soundtrack comprises electronic music composed by Vince DiCola and songs from rock and heavy metal acts including Stan Bush and "Weird Al" Yankovic. Barbie is a 2023 fantasy comedy film directed by Greta Gerwig from a screenplay she wrote with Noah Baumbach. Based on the eponymous fashion dolls by Mattel, it is the first live-action Barbie film after numerous computer-animated films and specials. The film stars Margot Robbie as the title character and Ryan Gosling as Ken, and follows the pair on a journey of self-discovery following an existential crisis. The supporting cast includes America Ferrera, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, and Will Ferrell.

The Moronic four discuss the Bionic Six, and there can be only one outcome. And as expected its an episode filled with nonsense, jokes, arguments, trivia and a would you rather that unbelievably ISN'T about Bionic Dicks. This 80's cartoon based heavily on The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman has all of the Power Squad in agreement as we watched episode 2 from Season 1 "Enter the Bunji".
The Transformers: The Movie is a 1986 animated science fiction action film based on the Transformers television series. It was released in North America on August 8, 1986, and in the United Kingdom on December 12, 1986.[8] It was co-produced and directed by Nelson Shin, who also produced the television series. The screenplay was written by Ron Friedman, who created The Bionic Six a year later. The film features the voices of Eric Idle, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Casey Kasem, Robert Stack, Lionel Stander, John Moschitta Jr., Peter Cullen, and Frank Welker, and saw the final film roles for Orson Welles who died before the film's release and Scatman Crothers who died after the release of the film.[9] The soundtrack comprises electronic music composed by Vince DiCola and songs from rock and heavy metal acts including Stan Bush and "Weird Al" Yankovic. The story is set in 2005, 20 years after the TV series' second season.[10] After a Decepticon assault devastates Autobot City, Optimus Prime wins a deadly one-on-one duel with Megatron, but ultimately sustains fatal injuries in the encounter. With Megatron gravely injured, the Decepticons are forced to retreat, saving the Autobots. The Autobots are hunted across the galaxy by Unicron, a planet-sized Transformer intending to consume Cybertron and who transfigures Megatron to become the enslaved Galvatron. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/wvuncommonplace/message
This week on Animation Celery, we're pitting two ostensibly similar shows against each other to see which is superior: C.O.P.S. or Bionic Six! The Central Organization of Police Specialists is going to face down not one but two weirdos who deal in bugs, and are going to thwart a criminal mastermind whose mother is already doing a fine job of thwarting him. Meanwhile, the Bionic Six are going to face down not one but three weirdos who want to... do crimes, I guess, and also look after an apocalyptic baby. Plus, Matsy checks out the second season of Jellystone!, while Micah considers local furniture celebrities and gets around to watching White Snake 2: Green Snake. Aye aye and goodbye! Cartoons in this episode: C.O.P.S., "The Case of the Lesser of Two Weevils" and "The Case of the Visiting Mother" Bionic Six, "Triple Cross" and "You've Come a Long Way, Baby!"

Today on the Toy Power Podcast, we look at a vintage line from LJN – no it’s not ThunderCats, say hello to the Super-Future-Family, The Bionic Six. With a theme song that sounds like a Rick Astley cover, these GI Joe sized figures are another 80s line that you may not remember. But stick around and learn about this crazy line including the most amazing origin story you will ever hear! We also attempt to answer a un-finished piece of toy history – what does F.L.U.F.F.I stand for? We then welcome a special guest to the show – Frank’s wife Ali Allan! She helps the team answer tough questions as we look at our collections through the lense of our significant others. What’s their reactions? Do they attempt to buy stuff for us? Where do they draw the line? What’s it like to live with a collector? Is this show a podcast or a support group for the truly addicted? Was Frank bullied by school kids into buying toys? And where does Monopoly Man fit into all this? Support the show.
I know I say this a lot, but this one was a real thrill for me. This week, my conversation with Skeletor himself: the one and only Alan Oppenheimer! If Alan's career only included his work on He-Man and She-Ra (where he also played Man-at-Arms, Cringer/Battle Cat, and Mer-Man) and The Neverending Story (Falkor, G'Mork), his reputation as a legend would've been secure. But he was involved with so much else. If you grew up in the 80s and watched any cartoons, odds are you heard his voice more than you know. He had regular roles on The Smurfs (he was Vanity Smurf), Transformers, Wuzzles, The Original Ghostbusters, Centurions, Rambo, Bionic Six, BraveStarr, and so many more. On this episode, we chat about his early career, The Neverending Story, a soup-to-nuts discussion of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and that show's enduring legacy.

The crew of TBC_afp got down to the nitty gritty topical discussion concerning Bionic Six, Margot Kidder, Telly Savales and a little known latest sequel to the massive juggernaut (full pun intended) hit movie, Deadpool. But how does the Ryan Reynold’s highly anticipated follow up fair? Do we get to see X-Forcer's like Shatterstar jump into action with the pitter patter of lil’ baby Rob Liefeld feet? And what about that "you know what" regarding Brad Pitt? So, chillax, put on some dubstep but not too loud or else you won’t be able to hear this episode. #yentl #frozen #coincidence ??? #happymothersday
