As with doing things afraid, there are also things you have to conquer alone. Not all things of course but for sure in life there are roads to cross that only you can go down. The journey when you look back is much larger of an accomplishment because you did alone and you'll realize where and when to do things with community and the company of others and you'll know when you next to move alone. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jordan-tolbert/message
Yes you heard me. Do it scared. If it's not hurting anybody, if it's just an imaginary glass that you've created that you need to break through in order to advance in life, this is your reminder. When it's your passion, when it keeps you up at night, when you can't find the answer that you've been looking for but you know the question wouldn't have come to you for no reason you've got to shoot. All 2024 write down things places or people that intimidate you or cause you to hesitate and go through the list one by one palms sweaty, voice cracking I don't care how it looks, how crazy you feel. Back In Taiwan how? As much as we place our Self Worth and Identity into our passions and careers, we fail ourselves when we fail to give ourselves the opportunity to fixate our sight on what god has for us. Passion and work ethic will always translate into something honorable but it also may never satisfy us if we place to much value on a man made plan. Spend time with yourself in prayer, an try to wrap your head around a reality that god has for you and watch your life change in ways you couldn't imagine. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jordan-tolbert/message
A great mentor of mine who played alongside Karl Malone at Louisiana Tech once told me a story of how he wanted his coach to know he serious he was about his game. They had fallen behind in the game and he felt like coach wasn't doing much to change that so he walked himself over to the scorers table and checked himself into the game. I took away a gem from that. Just check yourself in the game. A coach, a boss, your community, loved ones and friends included they see you how they see you and sometimes that's limited due to familiarity. You don't have to accept that. By checking yourself in the game, your choosing your own fate. You start to see things as they are and if your patient humble and wise enough you then seek and ask for god to allow you to see his vision of yourself. That's when things get scary. To have to trust situations that make no sense, to lose positions you worked so hard to get and still not see the next step but have to keep walking. Lastly I'll say that once you declare something in prayer all you have to do next is take the first step towards god and as you walk….THE WAY APPEARS. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jordan-tolbert/message

From Jeanerette, Louisiana Creole Soul Food is home and food is an art for her. Chef Meika offers a big pot of gumbo on life, as a mother, business owner, and a partner. She doesn't believe sugar should go in grits which I would argue. After spending 6 months in Philadelphia and returning home she dealt with what she described as a break up. A person who obviously thrives off of seeing people satisfied with her food, its very difficult for her to say no and not feel like she let someone down. A breakthrough in her life was realizing how draining it can be doing something you don't enjoy and not being happy. In her life she's had to realize that she needed to say no to some things and how easy it is to consider others even before yourself. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jordan-tolbert/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jordan-tolbert/support
