Championchip is a weekly review of random bags of potato chips hosted by 9-year-old chip connoisseur, Brodie AB. Joined by co-host (and Dad), Alex, and Program Director, Mama Barrett, the inquisitive Brodie reviews the bag appearance, accessibility, chip durability, chip dustiness, and of course, flavor, in this half hour show full of laughs and crunches.
Thanks for the bag, Zach! As usual, our conversation went a lot of non-chip-related places. We rounded out the last 5 minutes with some discussion of these kettle cooked classics. Not the most memorable S&V we've had, but not the worst either. We enjoyed our time in the studio after a long day and we're happy that we always have this show to look forward to. Thanks for listening, Chip Champions!
Wowzers! We're back with an AMAZING chip (no matter what Mama Barrett has to say about it). It's not flavorless...it's very good. Something has gone horribly wrong with Mama Barrett's taste buds and we're truly concerned for her well-being. Do NOT let her intro discourage you from picking these up at your local grocery. Thank you all for listening! Eat a bag of chips!
Despite us calling this season 2 episode 3 no less than 5 times during this episode, it's season 2 episode 4! These Trader Joe's pizza-flavored chips were amazing, contrary to the opinion of Mama Barrett! Brodie described his trip to DC with Zach and we enjoyed the chips at the end. Thank you for listening! Eat a bag of chips!
Happy Easter! We hope you all had some fun times with friends and family this past weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed Herr's Ranch Habanero chips along with a few chocolate bunnies. While writing this, I''m remembering that we may not have actually given these chips a 0-10 rating during the episode. But after a brief conference with Brodie, we've decided these are a solid 7.5. Thank you for listening! Eat a bag of chips!
We're cruising along here in Season 2 with another bag of Keogh's thanks to Jenn Jenn. They tasted more like barbeque and beer than Irish whiskey, but Brodie seemed to be a fan. We talked about Brodie's new found love for the drums and we'll have to share some of what he has learned soon! Have a great week, Chip Champions!
We're back, baby! It's been nearly 3 months since we posted an episode. Thanks for hanging in there for us! After Christmas, Brodie celebrated his 11th birthday and life has been chock full of soccer, theater, school projects, family events, drum lessons, and more. We're reinvigorated with our SECOND SEASON of the show. We've simplified things to keep it fun, light, and exciting and we hope you enjoy it! In this episode, we tried some AMAZING sweet creole onion chips donated by one of Championchip's biggest fans. Thank you, Gigi! We're so happy to be back and we're looking forward to next week's chip! Thanks for listening. Eat a bag of chips!
Merry Christmas, Chip Champions! We're back for big episode #80 and we have a bunch of guests! We had family and friends over for our Christmas Eve brunch and the mics were on! We're happy that we were able to finally drop another episode!Listen to the end of this podcast for a special announcement. We love you, Chip Champions! We'll be back better than ever next year!
We're back! Special thanks to Holly & Lisa for sponsoring this chipisode. We've enjoyed our Clancy's series over the last 3 weeks. Hope everyone is having a great start to December and enjoying the end of the year! Tune in for big episode #80 coming soon! Eat a bag of chips!
Happy Thanksgiving! We're doubling up with episodes this week! These aren't the first stuffing flavored chips we've had. Go check out Episode #34: Trader Joe's Thanksgiving Stuffing w/ Special Guest Kaleb because it is one of the best episodes we've done! But this chip was indeed a good one, too. Shout out once again to Lisa for the bag donation! We will be back next week, Chip Champions! Enjoy the holiday and have a great week!
We're happy to be back after a little hiatus. Shout out to Holly's mom, Lisa, for these chips and the chips we will enjoy in our next episode! HAPPY TURKEY DAY to all you Chip Champions! Have a great week!!
Thank you to The Reids for this bag of french Lay's! Saveur Poulet Roti translates in English to Roast Chicken Flavor. These reminded us of the Chicken & Thyme flavored chips we had from England (thanks to Phoebe Reid). One of us thought they smelled like a chicken salad sandwich! HAPPY HALLOWEEN, CHIP CHAMPIONS! We love you! Be safe! Eat a bag of chips!
Another week, another chip! Shout out to Terri for the bag! This episode was all over the place. Not a lot of chip talk, but we had fun! These were mildly spicy but full of flavor. We can't beleive we have reached episode 75. Thank you all for the support!
Hey there, Chip Champions! Welcome back to another episode. The Barrett Boys weren't big on these kettle chips, but Mama Barrett enjoyed them. In this episode, we listen to some of our "competition" review some chips! Our guy, Barry, hits a home run with his Youtube channel, "In the Chips." Brodie wants to collab with him on a future episode so maybe we'll reach out to him!As always, thanks for listening! Eat a bag of chips!
Expired bag strikes again! Only a couple of weeks expired, so we still enjoyed these hot honey chips from Utz. More than the chips, we loved having our OG Guest Host, Owen, back in the studio. We watch an old World of Warcraft meltdown/freakout video and have a nice laugh. We're already looking forward to having Owen back! Thank you for listening, Chip Champions! We love you!
Back by popular demand! We have enjoyed, but not been blown away by, the other Lay's collabs (check out episode #36: Lay's Cheeto Flavor Chips) that we've tried. This one is no different. If you like Funyuns and you like plain Lay's potato chips, then you'll definitely like these. If you really like Funyuns, but don't like Lay's, then you should just get a bag of Funyuns. Stay tuned until the end when we read Google Reviews for the worst bag Doritos ever made! Next week we're featuring a repeat Guest Host, the Original Guest Host in fact, and we're sure you can figure out who that is.Thanks for listening, Chip Champions! We love you!
We're back for a fun one! Thank you to Zach and Jenn, aka Zenn for the big box of chips. Brodie picked these out of a variety box and we were very pleased! High score alert! Thanks for listening, Chip Champions!
We're back with another ABC (Alex, Brodie, Caliegh) episode to celebrate big #70! We talk sports, house renovation, gym TV, and we tried 3 very unique chips. We will be back in action next week! Thank you for listening!
We're happy to be back in studio for these fantastic chips from Trader Joe's! We were suprised at how much we enjoyed them. Shout out to Mama Barrett for this lattice cut ghost pepper chip from Trader Joe's! They weren't as hot as one would expect after handling the black bag with flames and peppers all over it, but they were delightfully spicy with an amazing smoky flavor. Thank you for listening, Chip Champions! Tune into Episode 70 (ABC Episode) next week!
We tried the worst Dorito of them all with Uncle Moses! Fortunately, we had a backup snack (not a chip) in Brodie's Herr's Ghost Pepper Cheese Curls. We had a great time pressing buttons on the soundboard and talking trash with Moses. The little ones make an appearance at the end. If you started school this week, we hope you've eased back into your routine and will tune in next week! Thank you for listening! We love you, Chip Champions!
We went on a walk in our neighborhood and picked up some PRIME from CVS. We grabbed (and tried not to look at) a bag of Korean Tako chips from the chip closet to enjoy on this walk. Take chips are seafood-flavored and also happen to be shaped like an octopus! This chip is made with yellow Corvina fish and flour. However, we did not know this at all when eating these chips. We compared the flavor to Top Ramen seasoning. Hope you all enjoy the show! Thanks for listening. Tune in next week!
Brodie's Aunt Mia returns to the studio 1 year after her last appearance (go listen to episode #18). The chips weren't exactly the focus of this episode because we wanted to know all about Mia's recent Post Malone concert and her plans to see Lil Uzi Vert in the fall. Mia happened to love these chips and didn't leave much for Mama Barrett at the end. We stayed up late catching up with Mia and we're hoping to get her back in here very soon! Thank you for listening! Spread the word about Championchip, please! We love you bye!
We have Brodie's cousin, Kevin, back in studio! Always a good time with this guy is around. Shout out to GiGi for the plantain chips! This episode was very fun! Louis crashes the party at the end but gave us plenty of laughs. Stay tuned for another Barrett family guest next week! Thank you for listening!
After donating dozens of chips to the show over the past year, Holly makes her Championchip debut! Brodie hosts all alone for the first time and Owen comes along for the ride. Owen loved them despite the expiration date, Holly didn't like her own chip submission (Mama Barrett forced these upon her), and Brodie was somewhere between the two. As always, thanks for listening! Tune in next week for another SPECIAL GUEST!
Thank you to Jenn & Zach for going all the way to France to get these chips for us. This was our first bag in A BOX! What an exciting little puff chip that reminded us of veggie straws and shrimp chips at the same time but with an original Pringles flavor. We are cruising through this summer heat and hope everyone is having as much fun as we are. See you next week with a special guest!
We're back with a Trader Joe's favorite! Thank you to Mama Barrett for picking these up for us! We enjoyed them, but I think we enjoyed about 20 minutes of talking about everything except chips more. We are in the summer heat, Chip Champions! We hope you are enjoying it. Thanks for listening! If you haven't already, please follow us on instagram @Championchip_Podcast.
Sending a special thank you to Holly for these amazing crisps! We've been burned by English/Scottish crisps in the past (go back and listen to the infamous prawn crisp episode), but these were a great treat! The bag looked like a charcuterie board and you can't go wrong with that, except for the time we got charcuterie flavored chips...yikes. Thank you all for listening! Throw us a follow @championchip_pocast to stay up-to-date on all things Championchip.
It's an ABCO (Alex, Brodie, Caleigh, Owen) episode for big #60! Sadly, it turned into a COB episode after about 5 minutes because A was feeling under the weather. But we were stoked to have Owen over again so he could redeem himself after his previous review of Cool Ranch Doritos over a year ago. We think the ratings will surprise you! Thanks for listening and keep in touch with us on instagram @championchip_podcast. We are accepting chip donations and recommendations again!
Mama Barrett came in clutch with the Italian White Truffles & Fleur De Sea Sea Salt from Trader Joe's! We admitted that we don't really like truffles and we think it's something that people pretend to like (except truffle fries). But these chips did NOT disappoint. Some of the best we've had! Thanks for listening! ABC Episode coming your way next week. @championchip_podcast
We aren't positive if these chips came from England or Ireland, but we enjoyed them! The boys weren't big fans of Gammon & Pineapple, but the Sweet Sriracha Chilli were a hit! It's been a busy busy weekend for the Barretts and we're glad we could get back in studio for this one. Hope everyone has a FANTASTIC last week of school. Looking forward to another summer of fun!
Our very first guest who happens to be Brodie's best friend, Owen, joins us in studio again to try some trending Doritos. As Mama Barrett says, the ketchup Doritos taste like your Dorito accidentally touched your burger at the cookout and the hot mustard tastes like it's from the deli. It's hard to go wrong with a Dorito! We had a great time with Owen and the boys WON their soccer game after recording this episode. Their school team remains undefeated with one game left in the season. As always, THANK YOU for listening! We'll catch you next week!
Happy Mother's Day! Shout out to Papa Bill and GG for the chips from England! Jenn Jenn picked these up from them while in France a few weeks ago. These chips have seen 3 countries before being devoured in the Championchip studio. They didn't top the charts, but they were unique and interesting. We even got Zach to try them at the end!Shout out to all the Mommas out there. We love and appreciate you! Thanks for listening, Chip Champions!
Brodie's hilarious cousin, Kevin, joins us for the first time in studio to enjoy some rather obscure Honey Butter chips that he claimed were "off the charts.." In fact, these chips became Kevin's favorite chips moments after he tried them. The rest of the crew liked them, but not like Kevin did! We get into some chip trivia, the boys wrestle, and we feature the "1, 2 buckle my shoe" meme. We were stoked to have Kevin over and can't wait to have him back! Shout out to Mama Barrett's BFF Holly for donating these chips to the show. We love you, Chip Champions. Eat a bag of chips!Don't forget, if you haven't already, throw us a follow on instagram @championchip_podcast
Shout out and THANK YOU to Omri Reid for donating these chips to the show. Yes, they're chips, Mama Barrett. They are CORN CHIPS! When this is released, we'll have to post a an instagram poll on @championchip_podcast to settle it once and for all. These were great! We had a fun time on this one. We'll see you all next week! Thank you for listening. Eat a bag of chips!
Thank you to Holly for the bag! We absolutely loved these chips. Brodie is a big fan of ribs so these were a hit over here! Soccer season is under way and so is construction at the Barrett household. Check out @barretts_on_brook on instagram to see some of the progress. Fortunately, the podcast studio will be untouched during the renovations so we'll continue bringing you more episodes!Eat a bag of chips! We love you! Bye!
Shout out to Laura Laura for hooking us up with this big bag of seaweed flavored potato chips! We liked them! This was definitely a unique addition to the Championchip bag collection. Chip Champions, get ready to be Rick-rolled this entire episode. We agree it's a bit much. Listen until the end and you'll get to hear one of Brodie's parts in the Fox school play! Thank you for your continued support!
Back from the BIG EPISODE #50 and onto #51 with a bag of Lebron James' Flamin' Hot Cheddar & Sour Cream RUFFLES! Shout out to @BarDaddy_ for the bag! We thoroughly enjoyed these cheesy chips and would get them again. We hope you all have a great week!! Thanks for listening. Throw us a follow on instagram @championchip_podcast. Eat a bag of chips!
We take a walk down memory lane with this one! Extra long intro with clips from some of our best episodes over the past year! We're taking this opportunity to celebrate a year of Championchip! Thank you to everyone who has supported by listening, sharing, recommending chips, providing chips, guest starring, and eating chips along with us! It's been an amazing ride and we're stoked to continue it! We think this might be our best episode yet, so we hope you enjoy it!Throw us a follow on instagram @championchip_podcast. Eat a bag of chips!!
We're back, Chip Champions! Got some freshly expired Jalapeño Ranch Ruffles and they weren't half bad. Brodie decided that we're going to take 2 points off the top of the score for any expired chips in this episode and future episodes. We really thought we were done with all the expired bags, but alas...here we are. We have just ONE. MORE. WEEK. until big episode #50! Get ready! We're coming in hot! We love you, Chip Champs. Throw us a follow on instagram @championchip_podcast
Uncle Moses joins us in studio with a bag of chips he searched far and wide for. Another hit from Rap Snacks! We all loved these. We talk about some of Brodie's not-imaginary friends and we hear from Moose Soup Lady. Bonus chip: Tapatio Flavor Doritos!Thank you all for listening! Only 1 more episode then it's big #50!!Throw us a follow on IG @championchip_podcast.Eat a big of chips!
Aunt Phoebe provides another bag from across the pond! Since Auntie JoJo traveled to the birthplace of these chips, she joined us to taste and review them. She compared them to the real haggis dish she ate in Scotland, but you'll have to listen to the end to hear about it! Shout out to Phoebe and Jordan for their part in this episode! Happy Birthday to Grandma Jenn Jenn on 3/9! We love you!
Shout out to Holly for providing us with another bag! Sadly, the bratwurst chips did not live up to the hype of the Circle K Hot Dog chips, which also came from Holly. The bratwurst chips didn't taste much like bratwurst, but Mama Barrett said they'd be good crushed and topped ON a bratwurst. Who knows what she's thinking...We're only 4 episodes away from big 50! Thank you all for tuning in every week! Follow us on instagram @championchip_podcast. We love you, Chip Champions!
Sending a special thank you to Gigi this week for these amazing chips! This bag flew across the country just for this episode and we've had them in Mama Barrett's chip closet for quite some time. We know what you're thinking...but no, they don't expire for another 2 months. We're closing in on 50 episodes, people! Thank you all for your support. We're accepting chip recommendations AND donations again. DM us on IG @championchip_podcast if you'd like to contribute. We love you, Chip Champions! Eat a bag of chips! :)
We have a guest host! We welcomed Brodie's friend from school, Calum, to join us and he came bearing chips! Before we tell you about this episode, it is important that you know that Alex really messed this one up. Not only is it being released late, but we had some technical difficulties during this recording and both Brodie and Calum's microphones were not operating. All of the audio was recorded from one mic in the studio and it was not apparent during the recording session. So, sadly this episode is not the same quality that you've come to expect. The good news is this gives us a great excuse to have Calum back in the studio. But we didn't want this episode to go to waste. So, despite the audio quality, we hope you can enjoy it. The cheddar horseradish chips from Herr's were delightful (to a couple of us). They were as STRONG as you'd expect from a horseradish flavored chip. We had a great time talking about them, but also talking about Blooket and Breakfast Club from a couple of years ago. Please tune in again next week! We will be sure to check all our audio levels so this doesn't happen again!Have a great week, Chip Champions!
We're back, baby! Shout out to our cousin, Laura Laura, for these Japanese Curry Flavor Shrimp Chips! They were NOT like the prawn chips and they were very tasty! Brodie mentions the state of Ohio a few times, we watch the Ice Kid's video, and we have Brodie's siblings join for the final taste. Thank you for listening! Tune in next week as we're planning to have a special guest!Thank you all for your continued support. We love knowing that this show brings joy to so many friends, family, and listeners throughout the globe. Thank you for spreading the word! Eat a bag of chips!
Happy Monday! We finally got around to tasting the second bag of queso chips that Dad bought at a latino market over the summer. We were NOT fans of the queso Ruffles, but we actually really liked these Papa Sitas! They were lightly dusted with cheese and they were somewhat soft in texture. Mama Barrett wasn't a fan but the boys enjoyed them! We're closing in on our one year anniversary show! Stay tuned, Chip Champions!
On this episode, we combined two mini episodes we recorded from the car on our morning commute. The first one is from August 2022 when we tasted Popchips Cheddar & Sour Cream. They were delightful! The second one is from last week on our way to Brodie's school. Utz Fried Dill Pickle chips were amazing! We are big Utz fans! We're changing our weekly release day from Sunday to Monday. So, we recommend tuning in on your Monday morning drive to work or school.Thank you all for the reviews on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. We appreciate the support for the show. We love doing this and hope to keep it going for many years. Follow us on instagram @championchip_podcast and eat a bag of chips!
Happy Episode #40, folks. We're closing in on a year of recording this show. Our pilot episode was released on 02/27/22. We're planning something for a one year anniversary of Championchip and will accept any chip donations over the next month for it. Reach out on instagram @championchip_podcast if you'd like to contribute. We'll shout you out and return the favor with some Championchip merch! In this episode, we rank the last 17 bags we've had since we did our first installment of "ABC Ranks The Chips." We've had some highs and lows since the last time we did this, but we've enjoyed every bit of the ride. We've won some, we've lost some. Over the last 40 episodes, we've tasted an incredible variety on the flavor spectrum of potato chips. We love these moments together and with everyone listening. Thank you for your support! Eat a bag of chips!
Happy New Year! These crisps flew across the pond for episode #39! These 5-6 month expired crisps traveled from Ireland with Jenn Jenn long ago and they made their way to the top of the pile in our chip closet. Mama Barrett says she's going to audit the chip closet soon. We didn't exactly enjoy these and wouldn't buy them again but, as always, we enjoyed recording the show. Thanks for listening! DM us @championchip_podcast if you're interested in any Championchip merch! We had hoodies made for Christmas and we love them! Eat a bag of chips!
Merry Christmas, Chip Champions! We were happy to have MANY special guests on this episode. We're nearly a week late posting it, but hey, here it is. :)According to most of our tasters, Herr's didn't knock it out of the park with the Charcuterie Board chips. But that doesn't stop us from having a fun show. Throw us a follow on Instagram @championchip_podcast to stay current on all things Championchip. Merch coming soon!
The boys are back in the studio to start Brodie's winter break off right! We had not heard of this brand. Our hopes were up because of the appearance of this bag, but it fell short. This chip was not the Champion, but we still had a great time. Thank you for listening!
We've got a Switcharoo on our hands! Brodie's time was limited, so he just did the intro but he did taste them and gave them a higher taste rating than the adults did. Thank you to Holly for the bag...its not her fault we let them expire. Mama Barrett and Dad talk way too much in this one but it's ok! We're having fun! Christmas is right around the corner. Oh, and Mama Barrett's birthday. Check out the trivia question on instagram @championchip_podcast.Eat a bag of chips! Thanks for listening! We love you! Exclamation!
