"Send us a message! (questions, feedback, etc.)"We've known our guests Chad & Melissa Barrett for over 30 years. From days in Bible college to early church ministry, the Barretts and their families have been special people to us. So it was wonderful to be able to catch up with them and ask them to tell their beautiful story.Chad and Melissa have four children. One of their kids, Kristina, bravely walked through a 4-year journey with cancer before passing away in 2014. During the time of her illness, Chad & Melissa experienced every emotion imaginable. Their story is heartbreaking but also filled with hope. Many times when we hear stories of families walking through the valley of the shadow of death, we think or say, "I could never make it through something like that." We hear Chad and Melissa share how - even in the midst of grief, anger, sadness, depression and anxiety - they experienced deep, close connection with God, their children, and each other. This is our longest conversation to date. Feel free to listen to it in pieces. But, like Chad said during our talk, when sharing through surges of emotion, "Don't edit this out..."#inspiredbykristina #thrivenotjustsurvive #chadbarrett #melissabarrett #kristinabarrett #cancer #community #counseling #recovery #awaken #awakenrecovery #awakenpodcast #whatwereallywant #wwrw #grace #gospel #connection #conversationThrive Not Just Survive (Chad's website where you can find his book and podcast)Inspired By Kristina Facebook Group Awaken websiteRoots Retreat Men's IntensiveRoots Retreat Women's WorkshopAwaken Men & Women's support meeting info (including virtual)

When we talk about the greatest rugby family in this country ever, it's almost impossible to go past the Barretts. Kevin 'Smylie' Barrett was a Taranaki legend who also played for the Hurricanes, Beauden is a 100 game All Black, RWC winner and 2 x World Player of the year, Scott has captained the Crusaders to 4 Super Rugby titles and is the current Captain of the All Blacks, Jordie at just 27 has racked up over 50 games for the All Blacks and dominated where ever he plays. Kane was tracking the same path before 2 significant head injuries forced him to retire at just 22 years old. It was awesome to sit down with Kane and talk through where he is at now and how he looks back on his career, some bits that stood out for me were.. The battle between the Barrett brothers to be the Alpha growing up How Kane would fire up the Francis Douglas 1st XV side, once resulting in a yellow card The time Kane picked up his coach Neil Barns as a 16yo and dropped him on his head His pathway into NZ Schools for 2 years, Taranaki and the Blues What forced Kane into retirement and how hard that was to deal with How he looks at his brothers successful careers His new life of the farm And heaps more! This was such an incredible insight from such a champion lad, you can only admire the way Kane has gone about his life post footy and it was so cool to hear about his journey.
On this special edition of the Real Health Podcast, Dr. B and his wife Becky talk about healthy habits for raising kids, as well as amusing stories about the behind-the-scenes of Barrett's practice!

We aren't positive if these chips came from England or Ireland, but we enjoyed them! The boys weren't big fans of Gammon & Pineapple, but the Sweet Sriracha Chilli were a hit! It's been a busy busy weekend for the Barretts and we're glad we could get back in studio for this one. Hope everyone has a FANTASTIC last week of school. Looking forward to another summer of fun!
We've got another draft under our belt. While Molly didn't get a single pick right, Ralph batted 1,000. The only player on his wishlist, OL Cody Mauch was scooped up by the Bucs in the second round. We moved up to acquire the NDSU tackle, who will likely play at guard for the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers went heavy defense this draft. Unsurprising given HC Todd Bowles is a defensive guy. Tragedy struck the Bucs family this weekend when Shaq Barrett's two-year-old daughter drowned in the family's pool. Our prayers go out to the Barretts. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/buccaneers-observer/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/buccaneers-observer/support
Den 1. marts er det 50 år siden, det ikoniske "The Dark Side of the Moon" udkom. - sammenhængen mellem "The Dark Side of the Moon" og tidligere Floyd-album, specielt "Meddle". - udviklingen fra psykedelisk band til en del af den voksende engelske bølge, progressiv rock, også kendt som prog rock. Eller var Pink Floyd overhovedet et prog rock band? - hvad det var for noget med Wrights joystick? - et eller rettere flere bud på, hvorfor albummet har opnået sin status som et af de vigtigste rockalbum nogensinde.
Lux Radio Theatre, sometimes spelled Lux Radio Theater, a classic radio anthology series, was broadcast on the NBC Blue Network (1934–35) (owned by the National Broadcasting Company, later predecessor of American Broadcasting Company [ABC] in 1943–1945); CBS Radio network (Columbia Broadcasting System) (1935–54), and NBC Radio (1954–55). Initially, the series adapted Broadway plays during its first two seasons before it began adapting films. These hour-long radio programs were performed live before studio audiences. The series became the most popular dramatic anthology series on radio, broadcast for more than 20 years and continued on television as the Lux Video Theatre through most of the 1950s. The primary sponsor of the show was Unilever through its Lux Soap brand. Tony Randall was born Aryeh Leonard Rosenberg on February 16th, 1920 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Northwestern University for a year before going to New York City to study under Sanford Meisner and choreographer Martha Graham. Randall worked as an announcer at WTAG in Worcester, Massachusetts. As Anthony Randall, he starred with Jane Cowl in George Bernard Shaw's Candida and with Ethel Barrymore in Emlyn Williams's The Corn Is Green. After serving with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in World War II, he came back to New York City. In 1946, Randall was cast in Katharine Cornell's revival of The Barretts of Wimpole Street. The following year in Antony and Cleopatra and in 1949 he appeared in Caesar and Cleopatra. Simultaneously, Randall found work in radio. Randall was twenty-nine and in New York when I Love a Mystery was revived. He originally auditioned for the part of Doc, but Carlton Morse felt he was better suited for Reggie York. As much as Randall loved I Love A Mystery, he wasn't a huge fan of many of the soap operas he appeared on.

Broadcast originally aired on Monday, September 19, at 9:30 am on WRCR RadioWe turned our attention to the life and legacy of the actor Burgess Meredith, who lived in Pomona, NY for thirty years. Meredith's son, Jonathan Meredith, joined Clare Sheridan to share his memories of his father, growing up in Rockland County, and his father's eclectic group of creative friends and neighbors, including Maxwell Anderson, Alan Jay Lerner, and more.Jonathan is a professional musician living in Grass Valley, California. As a teen, he collaborated with Tony and Hunt Sales (sons of the comedian Soupy Sales) and fellow Rocklander Jon Pousette-Dart to form the group Tony and the Tigers, which opened for the Animals at Steel Pier in Atlantic City and performed twice on the popular television program Hullabaloo.Burgess Meredith, the raspy-voiced character actor with unruly hair and a grimacing yet humorous nature, displayed versatile acting skills that kept him before cameras and on-stage for more than seventy years. He began life as George Burgess, the son of a Cleveland doctor. The family dissolved early on, and Meredith said he took solace in acting in school plays. He was accepted at Amherst College on a scholarship in 1926, but finances forced him to leave school. He worked as a merchant seaman, tie salesman, and peddler of vacuum cleaners before drifting to New York City and Eva Le Gallienne's Student Repertory Group. “I had no money,” Meredith said in a 1976 interview, “but Eva took me in.”He left the group in the early 1930s for roles in The Threepenny Opera, Little Ol' Boy, The Barretts of Wimpole Street, and many other Broadway and off-Broadway productions. The playwright Maxwell Anderson, who was living in Rockland County at the time, became aware of Meredith's talents and wrote the play Winterset with him in mind. A melodrama of a son out to avenge his father's death, Winterset became not only a Broadway hit in 1935 but also a motion picture a year later, with Meredith re-creating his role as the son, Mio. It was the first of three stage portrayals that established Burgess Meredith as a significant actor. The other two were Van Van Dorn, who escapes civilization for a single evening in Anderson's play High Tor (1937), and Stephen Minch, who is permitted to return to the years of his youth in The Star-Wagon (also 1937). The critic Wolcott Gibbs praised him in the New Yorker as “brilliant, impressive, heartbreaking, vibrant and eloquent.”If the phrase “actor's actor” has any validity, Meredith was its prototype: His early credits also include Shakespeare's Hamlet and Macbeth. He found an entire new career late in life as a scheming villain on television and as Rocky Balboa's crusty manager in films. The image on this page is his portrayal of Van Van Dorn in High Tor.***The Historical Society of Rockland County is a nonprofit educational institution and principal repository for original documents and artifacts relating to Rockland County. In celebration of All The Best reaching 500 episodes, we're looking back into the archives and replaying episodes that, while recorded in years past, remain relevant today. This week we're bringing you 'Life After', an episode that first aired in 2017. From a global pandemic to natural disasters, grief and loss have followed us all in the last few years, and now is a perfect time to reflect on these, often ignored, feelings. ************************ What does life feel like in the wake of death? How do we cope, who do we turn to, and what can we do to make it better when we're left behind? This week we're looking at life after loss. ~ ‘Where the sky meets the sea' by Bethany Atkinson-Quinton When you stare at a mountain, the sheer enormity of nature stares back. Our first story this week is the final piece from our recent listening party in Sydney, where we played a collection of nocturnal stories about sex, worry, midnight adventures and, finally, the darkness of grief. In a culture where death and grief are tucked away from conversation and rarely understood, Bethany Atkinson-Quinton unpacks how our emotional pallet shifts with the tides and echoes in the wind. If you can, we recommend you listen to this one with headphones, in a quiet, calm, space. Made in loving memory of Daniel. As I recently discovered, one of the best things about having an actor on the podcast is that not only do they bring a valuable and unique perspective to these discussions about film and craft but they also have the ability to do all of the voices we're talking about! (And this particular guest is especially gifted in that department.) A very talented, versatile, and witty performer with more than 150 credit listings on IMDb, as an actor, James Urbaniak has brought to life Dr. Venture on Adult Swim's The Venture Brothers, the scene-stealing Arthur (who was my favorite character) on Hulu's Difficult People, and Grant on Comedy Central's Review. Additionally, he's also a podcaster in his own right and the creator of the scripted shows Getting On With James Urbaniak, A Night Called Tomorrow, and the upcoming I Will Never Lie to You. Joining me to discuss one of his all-time acting heroes and favorite periods of filmmaking in the form of Charles Laughton in the 1930s, in this lively and often laugh-out-loud funny episode, you'll hear us take a closer look at The Private Life of Henry VIII, The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1934), Ruggles of Red Gap, Les Miserables (1935), Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939). There's a new TV show about to launch called "Brother Battles". It's a show where some of the most famous brothers in the country go head to head in all sorts of challenges. With the catch being they'll be doing all of the challenges naked. As the man in charge of TV content, I thought who better to call up than Tasman Mako legend and NZ Maori star Jacob Norris. The Norris brothers have had a rapid rise through the ranks the last few seasons so to get them on a National TV, going toe to toe in random challenges, with the likes of the Savea brother and the Barretts would be great to see. As you'll hear Jacob is such a good lad and I hope someone out there can make this show happen one day for him. You are stuck in a cycle? You feel overwhelmed by the process? Impatient for the results? Wondering if what you are doing is right? Wondering why nothing sticks? Why you lose motivation and drive? Why you are struggling along the way? Why it feels like you are trying all the things but still not getting anywhere? "YOUR BIGGEST HURDLE TODAY, IS THE STORY YOU KEEP TELLING YOURSELF - AND TOMORROW? IT WILL BE YOUR BELIEF IN THAT STORY THAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK!" How you think about yourself and the environment around you is a big predicator of your outcomes! Your thoughts & how you FEEL about yourself IMPACTS YOUR BEHAVIOURS which not only SHAPE your identity – but take you closer or further away from your dreams, goals and desires. If your internal beliefs don't line up with your actions and what you WANT - there will always be a "helpless" feel of struggle. its like a child learning to walk. first you must learn to crawl, fall, crawl, fall - walk, crawl, fall, until you can walk. and then you can run before you fall and get back up again. but once you can do that, you can then go onto other things like climbing a couch, digging into the playdough and sticking your hand in a fish tank. You unlocked a new level where you now have to learn what you can and cant do and the process continues - much like how you start off your health and fitness journey. You can have the "perfect" diet and training, but how can you expect to stick to it if you haven't yet done the "un-sexy" ground work of getting to know these values and beliefs that hold you back? Of digging into what it is that you need to drive you forward even when shit gets tough! Because you have to develop the GRIT, you have to stick it through the hard stuff and do uncomfortable things without giving in at the first sign of struggle!! You need to push through the dip to get to where you want to be - be it if you are heading in the right direction and not something that's going to cost more than its worth in the end. But you, your LONGTERM HEALTH & FITNESS - you are worth it. YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS. You just have to unlearn all the dysfunctional patterns in favour of ones that SERVE YOU & act as a spring board for even more to come - on your journey of becoming your BEST you! "Dig for the golden nuggets Understanding how and why we do what we do can be as lifechanging as finding nuggets of gold. There is always a DIP. Learn to push past your temporary PAIN or PLEASURE but also understand when the deck isn't in your favour!" My first several months of getting back into the hobby, I had no strategy for what cards to buy. Nevermind which cards to sell or hold - I could only think of acquiring cards. And I know most of you out there are the exact same. That's great! That's why they call it "The Hobby." You should be buying cards. But I think it's important to have a strategy as to which ones you're buying and why. Using data from Starstock (I have no partnership with them - they definitely have no idea who I am as of this publishing date), I have been able to start to determine which players, which cards, and which grades of cards (including from which grading companies) I should buy, try to sell, or hold if I already own. Using two players that I'm extremely high on right now, Angels P/DH Shohei Ohtani and Knicks PG RJ Barrett - I break down data from Starstock. I love that Starstock shows you how many total cards they have in their vault, and how many of them are listed for sale. In general, the sports card strategy principle is - the lower the percentage of a player's cards for sale, the more valuable the collectors see the player's cards being long term. Breaking that down further, on a per card basis, you can look at say Shohei Ohtani's 2018 Topps Chrome Rookie vs. his 2018 Topps Update Rookie and contrast the percentages. It may be that all Ohtani cards are mostly being held; or it may be that only a certain number of them are. With Panini cards for example, you can do your own comparison of Prizm vs. Hoops (or another set). Then, another one I'm fascinated by, is by grade and grading company. So on the Ohtani comparison in this video, I find that his PSA cards are being held, but his SGC cards are being listed for sale. So PSA is still seen by collectors as the more valuable as a long term hold based on this data. On top of a global pandemic and an election year, we had a small war for control of the Supreme Court in 2020. Woof. How is that relevant? Well, did you know Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett does CrossFit? Let's unpack it.Good morning and welcome to the Ben Garves Podcast - a daily show at the intersection of health, activism, and technology. I'm your host, Ben GarvesYou probably haven't missed the fact that it was an election year here in the United States and the general opinion on both sides of the aisle is that was an election which would define the heart and the soul of the country for decades to come. Lives are on the line, healthcare is on the line, the environment is on the line, and as if we didn't need another thing to worry about, there was a battle for a Supreme Court seat after the sad death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. If you haven't followed what's been going on with the Supreme Court the last four years, here's a quick catch-up:Conservative Justice Antonin Scalia died suddenly in February 2016.One month later, President Barack Obama nominated Judge Merrick Garland to fill Scalia's vacancy. Then begins a long fight in the Republican-majority senate, with Republican senators like Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnel saying appointing a nominee 237 days before an election shouldn't be allowed.Merrick Garland's nomination was effectively blocked, then the position was filled by conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch after Trump was appointed President by the Electoral College. With the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy in 2018, Trump put up a second nominee, now Justice Brett Kavanaugh. This drove a fiery confirmation process as numerous allegations were made about Kavanaugh's sexual assault of women and alcoholism. Then, only 45 days before the upcoming election and only seven days after the death of Justice Ginsburg, Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett. Senator Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnel, once blocking a nomination 237 days before an election, then moved forward with Coney Barrett's confirmation with less than 30 days left. But those are just the facts, and not really the focus of this episode. Amy Coney Barrett. Anti-women's rights, anti-birth control, pro-gun - her and I disagree funamentally on just about anything. But I was reading an article in TIME and figured I'd share part of it. TIME writes:“Barrett and her husband Jesse, a lawyer, have seven children in South Bend, Indiana. Two of their children are adopted from Haiti and the youngest has Down syndrome. With a lot to juggle at home, the Barretts take turns going to work out in the morning—at a high intensity, CrossFit-style gym they both favor—and Amy takes the early shift, with classes sometimes starting in the 5AM hour, friends who go to the same gym say. Then Amy can come home and help get her kids up for the day, which once included a ritual with her son with Down syndrome in which she'd carry him downstairs by piggyback every morning.”It's just a reminder that sometimes you can dislike everything about a person's ideologies but know they are still a good person managing their life and their community in the best ways they know how. I don't fault Amy Coney Barrett for how she was nominated and I will likely disagree with every way she interprets the US constitution. But it seems like she's a good human. And I can live with that. That wraps it up for today. Thanks for listening to the Ben Garves Podcast, at the intersection of health, activism, and technology. Don't forget, Fitness is for Everyone™.
In which Dawn babysits the Barretts and ends up having to do a ton of unpaid emotional labour and also unpaid normal labour. There's also a halfhearted child abduction, a weird amount of barbecue product placement, and the earth-shattering revelation that you can buy potato salad at the supermarket. Today's agenda includes: ill-informed speculation about what bologna is; mildly distressing Richard Spier realisations; Humpty Dumpty portraits all the way down; antagonising local conservatives through the medium of stickers; minding a cigarette for one of the other dads; a disappointing lack of PowerPoint slides; Aoife gets into the hamster's food; Opinions on Fennel; poor Mrs Barrett is a mere CHILD, she's only 33; hay bale adventures and What Katy Did-related trauma; eating a bowl of wheatgerm to establish dominance; simple ways to impress your ex's horrible parents; terrible WASP baby names; RED-HOT CLASS STRUGGLE; 300RPM roasted lamb; vacuuming lifehacks from Esther's brother.
