The Vision of FBC Haw River is to advance the kingdom of God by encouraging all people to know, grow, and go, in Jesus’ Name.
The amazing grace of God is not just part of an old hymn that we sing. The amazing grace of God is the reason that we live the way we do. As a Christian, you are called to be different; by God's grace, you can live up to that calling.
The question is not whether slavery is right or not, slavery is wrong because of how it demeans an image bearer of God. The question is: how should a believer act differently in any situation they find themselves in; even slavery.
As believers, we are to pursue godliness in our daily lives. As Paul writes to Titus he urges him to teach what accords with sound doctrine and to encourage other believers to do the same, specifically older women in the church as they teach and train the younger women in the church.
As believers, we are to pursue godliness in our daily lives. As Paul writes to Titus he urges him to teach what accords with sound doctrine and to encourage other believers to do the same, specifically men in the church.
Titus was sent to Crete to put in order what remained; with that difficult ministry, he was also given a ministry of confrontation. As believers and leaders, we have been given that same ministry.
According to Titus 1:8-9 there are certain qualifications that godly leaders should have. These qualifications serve as a checklist of sorts for those in the leadership roles of overseer, elder, or pastor.
Our hope, our focus, our desire should be the Risen Christ, Jesus our Lord.
According to Titus 1:5-7 there are certain qualifications that godly leaders should have. These qualifications serve as a checklist of sorts for those in the leadership roles of overseer, elder, or pastor.
We are not saved only to sit by and hope that others come to know the Christ we call Savior, we are saved to serve.
Where do you go when it seems like no one cares for your soul? You run to God, the caretaker of your soul. Bring to him your troubles, your honesty, and your faith.
The sanctity of human life should be respected and celebrated at every age and in every stage. All people are created in the image of God and as image bearers, all people deserve life.
Sin is a very unpopular topic in the world today but for Christians, being honest about our sin and realizing we are to be dead to our sin, allows us to be alive in Christ.
A New Year has begun, don't go into it without an attack plan. Make sure you have these 3 essentials in place to make the most of this new year.
When we understand and experience salvation, we are left in awe and reverance for our Savior. We adore the Messiah.
We are all looking for Love. In what seems like a loveless world, God has promised us Love, the Love of a Messiah, even before the foundation of the world. This Advent Season celebrates the love found in the promise of Jesus' birth.
We are all looking for Joy. In what seems like a joyless world, God has promised us Joy, the Joy of a Messiah, even before the foundation of the world. This Advent Season celebrates the Joy found in the promise of Jesus' birth.
We are all looking for HOPE. In what seems like a hopeless world, God has promised us Hope, the Hope of a Messiah, even before the foundation of the world. This Advent Season celebrate the Hope found in the promise of Jesus' birth.
Change is not always a good thing or even a needed thing, but in the case of our lives before Christ and our lives with Christ, change is something that we can be thankful for. With Christ, we walk by the Spirit.
What are you thankful for? At FBC Haw River, we are thankful for you. We are thankful that you are here, that you are listening, and that you are willing.
A ministry report from our ministry partner, the Gideons International.
When we have the proper perspective of ourselves and the Gospel we realize just what a treasure the Gospel is. It is our job to pour it out.
If God is the first and most generous giver; what is our response to his generosity?
God is the first and most generous giver. He is our example of Generosity. How we respond to that generosity proves our faith in him.
Throughout the Bible God's people have been known as people of faith. Whether it was the Old Testament, the New Testament, or today, the people of God are people of faith.
As we progress in our faith this side of eternity, we look forward to the day when the second Adam, Christ, will come and un-adam all that the first Adam did through the fall.
For many of us, finding out who we are and what we are called to do can be a difficult proposition, looking at the life of John the Baptist can help us see some essentials of knowing who you are?
For a progressive church to continue to be a progressive church, the church as a whole must progress in their beliefs, beginning with their faith.
When a church seeks to be progressive in the truest sense of the word, they have to have boundaries set in place to ensure they don't progress in the wrong direction. We need those same boundaries in our lives.
It is not enough to why we need to progress, practically we need to know how to progress. Paul's encouragement and instruction to the believers at Thessalinica help us with this practical question.
In order to make a kingdom impact, First Baptist Church of Haw River (and every other church) will have to be progressive.
The whole Armor of God is what we need to be able to withstand the schemes of the devil but we also all need armor bearers who will come along beside us and help us to grow and continue the fight.
Filling the pulpit in Pastor Jonathan's absence, Student Pastor Derick McKinney asks the question "Do You Know?"
The only offensive weapon we have in our armor, take up the sword of the Spirit and through the Spirit's power, use the word of God to fight and win!
With the helmet of salvation we guard our heads. We guard them by believing and thinking right things.
With our faith grounded in Jesus Christ, we take up the shield of faith and guard ourselves against the fiery darts of satan. With our shield, we extinguish ALL the darts of the enemy.
In order to put on the whole armor of God we must fit our feet with the shoes of Gospel readiness. For the Christian, there are only two types of shoes; GO shoes or NO shoes.
Jesus Gathers us Together! We are his sheep and He is our shepherd.
The breastplate of righteousness protects our hearts, without the imputed righteousness of Jesus and the practical righteousness of right living we will be fatally wounded.
Without the firm foundation of the belt of truth, we will never truly be suited up and we will never be able to withstand the fiery arrows of the devil.
Before we put on the armor of God, we need to know why we are commanded to put it on. We need to know we need the strength of the Lord, we need to know our enemy, and we need to stand firm.
In the Parable of the Barren Fig Tree, Jesus shows just how amazing his grace and patience truly are.
In the Parable of the Wicked Tenants, Jesus speaks directly to the Pharisees about their wickedness concerning the covenant of God.
Justification by faith alone is the only way to truly experience salvation and a real relationship with God. In the parable of the pharisee and the tax collector Jesus upsets the social norms and shows how justification truly works.
Through Christ the spiritually blind recieve sight and salvation.
In the Parable of the two lost sons, Jesus displays the truth of the Father's love for us and how we receieve his grace and acceptance even in the midst of our greatest sins.
The parable of the Sower and the Soils teaches us the truth that Jesus is the sower, the gospel is the seed, and we are the soils.
The parable of the unmerciful servant illustrates the answer to Peter's question of forgiveness. We must forgive because we have been forgiven.
From the parable of the Good Samaritan we learn that our neighbors are the ones who need mercy. We cannot say we love God and not love people.
God's requirements for committed Christians are clearly laid out in scripture. Micah 6:8 - to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God.
A Christian, not in name only, but a committed Christian will have the marks of a Christian in their life.
The Hell of the Bible is a place filled with those who have disobeyed God's commands, sinners, and those who do not believe. It will be a place of eternal torment and punishment. Knowing this should drive us to witness even more.
