Arctic Front and First Snowfall The Chicago area is under a Winter Storm Watch for late Sunday night into Monday due to an Arctic front and lake-effect snow potential. Rain is expected Saturday evening, transitioning to snow overnight, with the heaviest snow likely from midnight to 8 a.m. Monday. (Or 10am). Temperatures will drop sharply, with highs in the 30s Sunday and Monday, and wind chills in the teens Monday morning. Snowfall Amounts Official forecasts from the National Weather Service (NWS) indicate 2–8 inches for Cook County, but localized totals could be higher (possibly double-digit amounts where intense bands set up). Some models suggest up to 15 inches in certain spots, though placement is uncertain. Snowfall rates of 2–3 inches per hour are possible in the most intense bands. Lake Michigan Water Temperature Lake Michigan surface water temperatures in early November typically range 45–52°F. But currently they are in low to mid 50s which is warm for this time of year. Lake-Effect Snow Dynamics Strong temperature contrasts between the lake and the 850 mb level (around 5,000 ft) are necessary for Lake-effect snow. It requires a difference of roughly 23°F or more. Northeast winds usually occur at the start of a storm for Chicago. This creates enhanced lake-effect snow for Chicago. However for winds to be off the lake as a storm departs and Arctic air arrives is uncommon for Chicago. This is what causes lake effect snow. It's also uncommon for this to happen in November due to warm Lake changing precipitation to rain. Buffalo 2022 Comparison The Buffalo storm in November 2022 produced over 80 inches of snow in some areas, with snowfall rates up to 6 inches per hour and thundersnow. Comparing this event to that event is reasonable in terms of dynamics, though Chicago's totals will be far lower. Timing: Heaviest snow expected overnight Sunday into Monday morning, tapering by late morning Monday. Wind Gusts: Up to 35 mph, causing blowing snow and reduced visibility. Chicago: 8.6-9.8 inches Cicero: 9.8 inches Oak Lawn: 5.4 inches Harvey: 6.4 inches Tinley Park: 5.8 inches Oswego: 0.3 inches Plainfield: 0.8 inches Wheaton: 1.5 inches Schaumburg: 1.8 inches Palatine:1.9 inches Evanston 8.2 These totals are for 12 hour period from 10 pm Sunday night 11/9 to 10am Monday 11/10/25. They assume a 10 to 1 snow to water ratio and follows the High resolution rapid refresh model as advertised on Windy.com I used this computer model because it is high resolution which is essential for lake effect snow and seems to be better than the NAM model regarding lake effect snow events from. What I've seen. It should be noted that while at times the snow to water ratio will be 10 to 1 due to warm Lake, but lake effect often takes on a powdery snow. Should snow to water ratio be double, then amounts could potentially be double whatever listed here in some spots.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/weather-with-enthusiasm--4911017/support.

Skip the banter: 00:04:34 (give or take a minute depending on ads) This case is especially close to us as Mike's sister was originally scheduled to work on the day of this massacre. We'll tell you all the details. On a freezing February morning in 2008, five women were executed in the back room of a Lane Bryant store in Tinley Park, Illinois. A sixth survived by pretending to be dead. The man responsible walked in without a mask, stayed for nearly an hour, and left behind duct tape, trauma, and almost no evidence. Seventeen years later, despite a witness and a police response within minutes, he's still unidentified. Allison tells us the rest of the story that changed one Chicago suburb forever—and how a twist of fate saved someone very close to our family. Support us and become a Patron! In this interview episode of Seeing Them Live, Charles interviews singer BB from BB & The Honey. BB is an American singer and songwriter who has been an integral part of the Chicago music scene for 20 years. Audiences say her voice is a blend of Brandy Carlisle, Janice Joplin, Patsy Klein, Stevie Nicks, and Amelda May. Her powerful interpretations range from blues, funk, soul, classic country to jazz, rockabilly, and classic rock. BB & the Honey have released a new EP of original songs called Reckless Heart, which is available on all major streaming platforms.BB reminisces about her first concert at age five, seeing Sean Cassidy at Navy Pier in Chicago, and shares memorable concert experiences with Mumford and Sons, contrasting them with a lackluster performance by Bob Dylan she attended in the early 90s. She discusses a formative experience in her music career when she and a friend were invited to join Arise Records after singing 'Amazing Grace' in a Chicago subway. This fortuitous event laid the groundwork for BB's extensive music journey, performing with various bands and writing a wide range of musical genres from blues, funk, soul, classic country, to jazz and rock. The episode also dives into BB's musical projects, from her early involvement with hip hop group Schmoov and the Family to later bands like Super D, The Jesters, and Seeking Wonderland. BB elaborates on how she transitioned into learning the piano during the COVID-19 pandemic, which allowed her to contribute more dynamically to her current band. BB & The Honey recently released a new EP called 'Reckless Heart,' comprising four original songs. The interview touches on the practicalities of their live performances, noting the flexibility in band size depending on the venue. BB delves into the recording process of the EP, aiming to capture the live energy of their performances. The episode wraps up with BB talking about their upcoming release party, their ongoing music journey, and where fans can find their music and live performance updates.BANDS: BB & the Honey, Bob Dylan, C&C Music Factory, Chicago, Full Moon Vixen, Groove X, Kris Kross, Lucinda Williams, Modern Day Romeos, Mumford and Sons, Poi Dog Pondering, Santana, Sean Cassidy, Seeking Wonderland, Stock Boy, Super D, The Dead, The Jesters, ZZ TopVENUES: Abbey Pub, Alpine Valley, Bacon Fest, beer fest in Kenosha, Baker House, Crystal Lake, Dole Mansion, Double Door, Goose Island, Hard Rock Cafe, Lake Como, Lou's Lounge, Mars Resort, Naperville, Navy Pier, Riviera, Riviera in Chicago, Ryman, Ryman Theater, Ryman Theatre, Sean Cassidy concert, Subterranean, Tinley Park, Walworth County Fair PATREON:https://www.patreon.com/SeeingThemLivePlease help us defer the cost of producing this podcast by making a donation on Patreon.WEBSITE:https://seeingthemlive.com/Visit the Seeing Them Live website for bonus materials including the show blog, resource links for concert buffs, photos, materials related to our episodes, and our Ticket Stub Museum.INSTAGRAM:https://www.instagram.com/seeingthemlive/FACEBOOK:https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550090670708

Head Brewer Jacob Hutcheson and Brewing Operations Manager John Halek showcase Soundgrowler's vibrant and eclectic brewery, where beer, doom, and tacos come alive in Tinley Park, Illinois. Jacob begins by sharing his passion for the Grodzinski, a rare Polish-style beer that won Soundgrowler a medal at the World Beer Cup — in addition to an even more coveted prize from Weyermann Malting Company out of Bamberg, Germany. He also explains the story behind the beer's name, “Good Familiars,” and the wide range of art forms from which he draws inspiration for his beers. Jacob and John then discuss some of the brewery's more unique features, such as its artwork and events like metal yoga. They also discuss death metal subculture, the variety of music they listen to, and how they inspire new beers. Plus: their mission to create an inclusive atmosphere, the challenges of crafting beers that satisfy both brewer and consumer, and what it was like to craft a beer in someone's memory. In the first half, Illinois State Director for MUFON (The Mutual UFO Network) Sam Maranto joined guest host Rich Berra (email) to discuss the correlation between the 2004 Tinley Park UFO mass sightings and other sightings during that timeframe. The Tinley Park event, which occurred on August 21, 2004 in the Chicago metro area, is one of the most significant cases Maranto has investigated. On that night, numerous witnesses reported seeing three reddish-orange lights in a triangular formation floating silently across the sky. "We had over 100 people seeing the same event simultaneously," Maranto explained. He noted that the phenomenon was not limited to Illinois; similar sightings were reported across several states and even in Australia shortly afterward. Maranto dismissed the idea that the lights could be attributed to military drones or flares. He pointed out the absence of air traffic during the sighting, which heightened the mystery as this was unusual for the busy Chicagoland area. "People were alarmed... they were thinking possible terrorists," he revealed, given that the event happened just under 3 years after the 9-11 attacks.Maranto likened this sighting to the famous Phoenix Lights incident, pointing out the similarities of large triangular shapes and the presence of additional orbs. "There were multiple objects seen... there were orbs that detached and came out of the main object," he remarked. Maranto speculated on the nature of these phenomena, suggesting they could be interdimensional or extraterrestrial in origin. "If you can control gravity, you're going to be able to manipulate time and space," he explained, indicating that the technology behind these sightings could be far beyond our current understanding.Discussing the potential implications of these sightings, Maranto noted, "It's a matter of national security at that point." He also expressed concern that these objects could be advanced military technology.---------------------In the second half, researcher and writer Joseph Lumpkin explored lost and rejected scriptures, including the Book of Enoch. Lumpkin claimed these obscure texts have a lot to offer Christians, despite being cast aside by a majority of denominations. He speculated that the Book of Enoch, written around 300 BC, was deemed "too fanciful" by early church fathers, leading them to categorize it as apocryphal.Lumpkin characterized the Book of Enoch as an elaborate Midrash, a form of interpretation that provides deeper context to biblical narratives. "It's almost like the director's cut of Genesis," he remarked. The conversation ventured into the nature of the Watchers, angels mentioned in Enoch who descended to Earth and interacted with humanity. Lumpkin proposed that these beings may have attempted to create a "race of Messiah", which he described as "Christ-like people." He posited that the Great Flood served as a reset button for this experiment, as Noah's family was the only one untainted by the Watchers' influence.Lumpkin also asserted that stories of miraculous births and resurrections were not unique to Jesus but shared among various cultures. He lamented the exclusion of certain texts like the Book of Enoch from mainstream biblical canon, stating, "Do you really think that God said less as time goes on? No, we keep cutting things out." He noted that the Ethiopian Orthodox Church still includes these texts, broadening their canon to 81 books, a stark contrast to the 66 books found in Protestant Bibles. "When you're in seminary, sometimes you're more indoctrinated than you are educated," Lumpkin noted.

At 10 a.m. on the morning of February 2nd, 2008, the Lane Bryant store and Tinley Park, Illinois opened for the day. Just minutes later, a man entered the store posing as a delivery person. He eventually pulled out a gun and took the store manager, a part time employee, and four customers hostage. The six women were forced into a back room, where they were bound with duct tape and shot, execution style. The store manager and the four customers were killed instantly, but the part time employee survived. She had moved just as the gunman fired, and although she was shot in the neck, she lived to give police a detailed description of the killer. Despite her account and an extensive investigation, the gunman has never been identified. It's been over 16 years since Rhoda McFarland, Jennifer Bishop, Carrie Chiuso Hudek, Connie Woolfolk and Sarah Szafranski were murdered, and investigators are still searching for the person responsible. On the morning of February 2nd, 2008, five women were murdered inside the Lane Bryant store in Tinley Park, Illinois. The gunman entered the store at 10:08 a.m. posing as a delivery person, and by 10:46 a.m. he had executed five victims. Surveillance footage captured two vehicles outside the store, a dark colored SUV and a smaller sedan, both leaving moments after the murders. The gunman was described as a husky, medium to dark complected black man, approximately 6ft - 6ft two inches tall, with a receding hairline and braided hair. He was wearing black jeans with rhinestones on the back pocket and a charcoal gray knit cap. His identity remains unknown. If you have any information in this case, please call the Tip hotline at (708) 444-5394 or email LaneBryant.Tipline@TinleyPark.org. There is still a $100,000 reward. Guest, Sam Maranto, Ufologist/Investigative Researcher: August 21st marks the 20th anniversary of the 2004 Tinley Park Mass Sighting. Hundreds witnessed and recorded this event on video. Was it one massive object with multiple lights hovering over this populated Chicago suburb, or a fleet of separate objects? One thing's certain - it defied easy explanation. In the days leading up, similar reports and videos flooded in worldwide to the National UFO Reporting Center. Police, radio, and TV stations in Chicago were swamped with calls from concerned citizens. Tinley Park wasn't alone in experiencing something unusual. Incredibly, another occurrence happened on October 31st that year. Featured in several UFO TV series, this remains one of the best-documented mass sightings in recent history, offering evidence of the event and details about the objects themselves.
