We celebrate the 40th anniversary of KISS's Asylum album by taking a look at the Bruce Kulick era of KISS.In 1984, after a series of revolving door guitarists came and went, Bruce Kulick became the permanent lead guitarist for the band during their non-makeup era and brought some stability to the veteran band. He also helped bridge the gap between the group's classic sound and the 80s "hair metal" sound that was hip and "rad" at the time.Jeff Hogland (Classic Rock Bottom) and me take a deep dive into the 5 studio albums that Mr. Kulick recorded with KISS: Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot In The Shade, Revenge and Carnival Of Souls. And of course, we get into all the backstage drama and shenanigans that goes along with KISS in the 80s and 90s.Just don't look too closely at the band's Asylum-era stage outfits, because, well...they don't say that Gene Simmons looked like Golden Girl Bea Arthur for nothing!

In this our 5th episode of the 8 Crazy Nights, we review a set of bourbon adjacent rums. Bumbu, Papa's Pillar, and Privateer International. These were all very different, but only one was similar to a bourbon the others closer to spiced rum. What is your favorite rum?

In this episode in our holiday Series 8 Crazy Nights, the crew reviews three of the Goose Island Bourbon County Stouts. Knob Creek, Eagle Rare and Angels Envy. These three pours did not disappoint, and brought as much Tom Foolery as last years episodes did.
HO HO Holy shit...I'm making the same joke I made last year! That's right! I lack creativity. So deal with it and get ready to deal with another episode of gaming news, movie reviews, a brand-new holiday themed tournament, the Stinkos, the Sweetos, and the everything Betweenos. The year may be winding down, but the news just won't quit. New games like Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs and a remaster of Beyond Good & Evil are still being announced. The year isn't even done with game releases, as FF7 Ever Crisis and Cookie Cutter are releasing this month. It's not too soon to start planning for next year with games like Cupid Parasite: Sweet & Spicy Darling and Unfortold: Witchstone scheduled for 2024 releases. The holidays may be the season of cheer and goodwill, but it is also the season of long cold nights. After a long day of working and a long night of holiday shopping, it might be nice to go home and relax. Sit down in your favorite chair, light up the fireplace, pour yourself an ice-cold eggnog, and roll that holiday kush for an evening of Hollywood entertainment. Disney's best TV show returns for a second season of time skipping with the mischievous god, Loki. Max adds a new superhero to the live action roster, the Blue Beetle. For those who prefer to see their movies in a theater, the Marvels and Godzilla Minus One might not be couch ready but they are definitely worth the time. The holidays maybe a time of joyful celebration but it wouldn't be RPGrinders without the Stinkos! Crooked politicians always make the Stinko list, even when they die. Some members of our government continue to ramp up their war on minority groups. They continue to push their religious views and disproven conspiracies about the LGBTQ+ community. These joy hating scrooges want to force gay orphans to live under religious oppression. Bah humbug to the scrooges. Bah humbug * 1000 to the genocidal maniacs and their bloodlust. The Stinkos may be naughty but the Sweetos are here to bring back the nice for this holiday season. What would the holidays be like without family? Less stressful. Family can be great but it can be just as great to get away from bad family members. As Frank celebrate his victory on the home front, another Grinder makes a tiny step in finding his Pride. Break got some new gay earrings. They are only gay because he is wearing them. The holiday season just wouldn't be the same without a new tournament! That's right! What better way to celebrate the holidays than a tournament death match?! The 32 best holiday movies! Christmas, New Years Eve, Hanukkah, and even Groundhogs Day go head-to-head but there can only be one day of Christmas! Can Will Farrell's Buddy the Elf save Christmas and slay the tournament competition? (Victory tastes good but not as good as syrup on spaghetti.) Will Bill Murray's character reform his life while dodging Bobcat's shotgun and physically abusive ghosts? (He could really use a proton pack.) Does Adam Sandler's character find redemption after 8 Crazy Nights and give the only Hanukkah movie the power to fight the "War on Christmas"? ("The War on Christmas" lol some people are very stupid.) Is Die Hard the best holiday movie? (John McClain kills terrorists and blows shit up while dropping funny quips. What could be more Christmas than that?) Does Batman's holiday Return strike fear into the hearts of the competition? (It should. Three words: Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman.) Can Bill Murray and the rest of the Ghostbuster's save the new year from a genocidal ghost and 31 other holiday movies? (SEE! Told you he could have used a proton pack.) Will Krampus be able to overcome all of the Holiday cheer? (Note to self: In the middle of a blizzard. Don't let your teenage daughter walk to her boyfriend's house.) Is representing two holidays cheating? (Trading Places says no.) Is Jim Carrey's green meanie going to steal Christmas from the happy little Woos and victory from the rest of the tournament competitors? (Jim Carrey was MEANT to play characters with green faces.) The holidays are just beginning. Time is running out. So if you kiddies haven't tricked your parents into thinking you were a good kid all year long, you still have some time! Just like all good kids, be sure to download RPGrinders and listen every week! All good parents make sure their children never miss an episode. Important Announcement. Repeat after me: Die Hard IS a Christmas movie. Gremlins IS a Christmas movie. Lethan Weapon IS a Christmas movie. Groundhog's Day is NOT a Christmas movie. You better not cry. You better not shout. The RPGrinders know if you have been Stinko or Sweeto.
8 Crazy Nights is anything but the stereotypical Hallmark movie. It is crass animated musical comedy that absolutely… does what it wants. Join the Remember When? crew as they explore this holiday “hidden gem” starring the comedy legend Adam Sandler. Adam Sandler's 8 Crazy Nights is a polarizing take on a holiday celebration that centers on a primarily Jewish cast. With Hannukah being the forefront holiday rather than Christmas. Should you watch this holiday movie this holiday season? Find out on this episode of Remember When? ---- Buy yourself some merch! Thanks for listening! SUMMARY:You wanted the best, you got the best! Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Paul Stanley of KISS joins Songcraft to talk about his long and diverse career through the lens of his role as a songwriter.PART ONE:Paul and Scott talk about musicians who adopt personas, how KISS seems to have the best timing of any musical group of all time, and their respective frightening memories of the band. Then they spend the rest of the time pinching themselves that Paul freakin' Stanley is on Songcraft. PART TWO:Our in-depth conversation with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Paul StanleyABOUT PAUL STANLEY:Paul Stanley is best known for his vocals, guitar, and outlandish stage performances that have helped define KISS. Combining elements of shock rock and glam to set a new standard for theatrical arena rock, Stanley's Starchild persona, alongside fellow band co-founder Gene Simmons's Demon character, has become one of the most iconic figures in music history. One of the best-selling bands of all time, KISS has sold over 75 million albums worldwide, and has earned more Gold-certified albums than any other band in the US. Fourteen of their albums have been certified Platinum, three of which have earned multi-Platinum status. Stanley has written or co-written many of the band's best-known songs, including “Strutter,” “Rock and Roll All Nite,” “Shout it Out Loud,” “Detroit Rock City,” “God of Thunder,” “Hard Luck Woman,” “Love Gun,” “I Was Made for Lovin' You,” “Lick it Up,” “Heaven's on Fire,” “Crazy, Crazy Nights,” “Forever,” and many others. In addition to his work with the band, Stanley released a self-titled debut album in 1978, and another solo album in 2006 called Live to Win. More recently, he released the album Now and Then, a collection of R&B classics alongside vintage-style originals under the name Paul Stanley's Soul Station. Defying categorization, he has written a hit song with Michael Bolton, duetted with Sarah Brightman, and even starred in a production of Phantom of the Opera. Paul's songs have been covered by a diverse list of artists, including Cher, Nirvana, The Replacements, Green Day, Ronnie Spector, Bonnie Tyler, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Garth Brooks. As a member of KISS, Paul was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. This fall, the band wraps the final leg of their End of the Road tour, culminating in a pair of shows at Madison Square Garden in New York, the city where KISS first formed in 1972.

This Week on America's Podcast, Free Form Rock Nation!! Jeff Beers Joins Us for controversial album among Kiss Fans.. Kiss' Crazy Nights is an album that has divided the band's fanbase since it was released in 1987. With its heavy use of synthesizers, pop-influenced hooks, and glossy production, some fans considered it a departure from the band's trademark hard rock sound. Others, however, were drawn to the album's upbeat energy and catchy melodies. The album's opening track, "Crazy Crazy Nights," is a prime example of the pop-rock sound that dominates the album. Its infectious chorus and driving beat make it a fan favorite and a frequent concert staple. Other tracks, like "I'll Fight Hell to Hold You" and "Bang Bang You," follow a similar formula, relying on catchy choruses and shiny production to propel them forward. For fans who prefer Kiss' heavier sound, Crazy Nights may feel like a betrayal. Some of the album's tracks, like "No, No, No" and "Hell or Hallelujah," offer glimpses of the band's classic style, but they are few and far between. Instead, the album leans heavily on keyboards and synth-driven arrangements, creating a sound that feels more at home on the pop charts than in the metal underground. Despite these criticisms, however, Crazy Nights has its moments of charm. Songs like the ballad "Reason to Live" showcase a softer, more emotional side of the band, while the album's closing track, "Good Girl Gone Bad," features a bluesy guitar solo that harks back to Kiss' roots. In the end, Crazy Nights is a polarizing album that will likely leave some fans divided. Those who embrace it for its pop textures and upbeat energy will find much to enjoy, while those who prefer Kiss' harder sound may feel left out in the cold. However, as with all things Kiss, there is no denying its enduring legacy and enduring appeal to both die-hard fans and casual listeners alike. Tracks of the Week Jeff, "Tom Sawyer' by Sabastian Bach. Charles, "Working Man" by Rush. Jerry, Comin 'Under Fire' by Def Leppard then we end with "Breakout" by Bon Jovi.. Until Next Week don't forget the mass amounts of Hairspray make sure and check if the bong is loaded!! The Classic Album Clash is back, and this time it's all about non-makeup KISS – 1987's “Crazy Nights” vs 1991's “Revenge.” And joining in the track-by-track analysis and trivia fun are Kuarantine – bassist PJ Farley, guitarists Joe McGinness and Charlie Parra, and drummer Kent Slucher. They talk album covers, super producers Ron Nevison and Bob Ezrin respective roles, songwriting and lyrics, and the importance of Bruce Kulick to the band at this point in time. They discuss the songwriting chemistry between Paul Stanley and Desmond Child, how Diane Warren contributed to KISS, the drumming prowess of both Eric Carr and Eric Singer, and why some of the songs weren't bigger radio hits for the band. They remember the Crazy Nights Tour, Gene Simmons return for “Revenge,” and some of their favorite music videos from both albums. Plus, Charlie recounts the first conversation he ever had with Gene Simmons, and CJ reveals which songs from both albums that were not particular favorites of Paul Stanley.
