So, in this episode I cover a subject that may be very top of mind for a lot of you - year end evaluations and ratings - how to approach them, what they are and what they can mean for you.Today, we are talking about year end evaluations and ratings. This post is kind of backwards - I meant to do a Development Plan post at the beginning of this year - we will get to that, but will start with the end of a cycle, first! This will be part of a three part series around the development plan cycle - starting here, then an episode on giving, receiving and actioning feedback, and finally, wrapping up with an episode on building a development plan for the year ahead.-----------------------------------------------------------------------Revisit the Harada Method, from Episode 6: https://rss.com/podcasts/prgscoach/676640/Check out FREE resources, like a blank 64-Window Chart: https://app.delenta.com/my/@prgscoach/course/free-ikigai-career-resources-----------------------------------------------------------------------More information about Progress Over Perfection Coaching can be found at:https://prgscoach.com/https://app.delenta.com/ta/@prgscoachhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/progress-over-perfection-coaching/-----------------------------------------------------------------------Intro and Outro music:Music: Right Ways [Original Mix] by Imperss is licensed under a Creative Commons License. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... Progress Over Perfection Coaching is a podcast focused on career management and development by offering insight on how to build an intentionally balanced and purpose-filled career.Today, we're talking about third party professional certifications - that's a mouthful, so from here on out, I'll just be calling them certifications. I'll start with what they are, how you can identify if they might be right for you, talk about a few well-known ones that I've had experience with as examples, go through the process and time and cost implications and how they can be put to use in your career journey. Throughout all of this, I'll also try to take a minute at each of these topics to talk about how you might be able to evaluate IF they could be something that could be useful for your career - there won't be a right answer, and that can change over time. But, like with the all things about your career, your changing perspective should not be seen as something negative - you will change, and so will what you want out of your career and how you want to go about achieving it. With that, lets talk certifications!-----------------------------------------------------------------------Past episodes referenced:Internal Drivers of Ikigai: https://rss.com/podcasts/prgscoach/615969/-----------------------------------------------------------------------More information about Progress Over Perfection Coaching can be found at:https://prgscoach.com/https://app.delenta.com/ta/@prgscoachhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/progress-over-perfection-coaching/-----------------------------------------------------------------------Intro and Outro music:Music: Right Ways [Original Mix] by Imperss is licensed under a Creative Commons License. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...Support by RFM - NCM: https://bit.ly/3po6gnm

Progress Over Perfection Coaching is a podcast focused on career management and development by offering insight on how to build an intentionally balanced and purpose-filled career. We are back with another Career Deep Dive, this time with my good friend and former classmate, Will Sandman. As always, the goal of these kinds of episodes is to offer insight into exactly what makes a successful career, based on the reality that there is no one right way to build a successful career. In addition to that, this episode focuses on the ever-important topic of Networking. Networking can mean any number of things, and can often inspire very strong reactions (especially for those that consider themselves more introverted, in which case, those reactions are typically negative). Will is currently a Business Development Manager for Avery Dennison, based out of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and he has held a variety of roles in sales, business development and manufacturing that have taken him throughout Asia. He has been an adjunct professor, and is also currently the Chairman of the Board for the philanthropic group of footwear professionals, Shoe Dawgs. An entrepreneur at heart, Will is the first person I think of when I think of networking, and I'm so glad to have had the chance to catch up with him and pick his brain on how to network effectively.-----------------------------------------------------------------------You can get in touch with Will, and find more information about Avery Dennison and Shoe Dawgs here:https://www.linkedin.com/in/william-m-sandman-4606b01/Avery Dennison WebsiteAvery Dennison Premier League: The Name Behind The NumbersAvery Dennison RBIS VietnamAvery Dennison EmbelexAvery Dennison LinkedInShoe Dawgs Vietnam LinkedIn-----------------------------------------------------------------------More information about Progress Over Perfection Coaching can be found at:https://prgscoach.com/https://app.delenta.com/ta/@prgscoachhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/progress-over-perfection-coaching/-----------------------------------------------------------------------Intro and Outro music:Music: Right Ways [Original Mix] by Imperss is licensed under a Creative Commons License. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...Support by RFM - NCM: https://bit.ly/3po6gnm
Progress Over Perfection Coaching is a podcast focused on career management and development by offering insight on how to build an intentionally balanced and purpose-filled career. It's been a little longer than normal since our last episode - actually a bit longer than I would have liked. To be honest, it's because there have been some other things going on in life that have taken my attention and energy away from this podcast. After I missed my normal cadence for posting an episode (targeting every 2 weeks), I got pretty down on myself, and started to feel pressure mounting like I was failing at something. That got me thinking - why do I feel bad about this? Why did I find myself so stressed over "falling behind" on a self-imposed cadence that clearly wasn't sustainable, given everything else going on in my life? In the spirit of embracing oscillation, here are some tips and approaches for how you can incorporate this idea into your own career, to frame up how you spend your energy, where you spend it, and why it's important to you.-----------------------------------------------------------------------Past episodes referenced: Introduction to Ikigai: https://rss.com/podcasts/prgscoach/611277/Internal Drivers of Ikigai: https://rss.com/podcasts/prgscoach/615969/External Drivers of Ikigai: https://rss.com/podcasts/prgscoach/622856/Setting Your Career Destination: https://rss.com/podcasts/prgscoach/622949/Put Your Plan to Work: https://rss.com/podcasts/prgscoach/653435/-----------------------------------------------------------------------Other Podcasts I referenced in the episode:Hidden Brain "Success 2.0: The Obstacles You Don't See" https://hiddenbrain.org/podcast/work-2-0-the-obstacles-you-dont-see/ The Art of Coaching "Episode 273: https://artofcoaching.com/e273/-----------------------------------------------------------------------More information about Progress Over Perfection Coaching can be found at:https://prgscoach.com/https://app.delenta.com/ta/@prgscoachhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/progress-over-perfection-coaching/-----------------------------------------------------------------------Intro and Outro music:Music: Right Ways [Original Mix] by Imperss is licensed under a Creative Commons License. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... Progress Over Perfection Coaching is a podcast focused on career management and development by offering insight on how to build an intentionally balanced and purpose-filled career. We all have things that we're good at and things that we like to do. And we've all had those jobs where we can pinpoint those things that we either don't like to do or that we aren't good at.These are things that are personal, and to some degree, within your control (or at least not defined by others). One of the keys to developing a fulfilling career plan is to be able to steer your career towards things you like and are good at.In part 2 of our 5 part series on building your career plan, I'll talk about how to identify your strengths, and the things that you love to do, as the internal drivers of building a career plan based on the concept of ikigai.Free MBTI test: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.aspFree Enneagram test: https://www.truity.com/test/enneagram-personality-testDetails on Clifton Strengths: https://www.gallup.com/cliftonstrengths/en/253715/34-cliftonstrengths-themes.aspx-----------------------------------------------------------------------More information about Progress Over Perfection Coaching can be found at:https://prgscoach.com/https://app.delenta.com/ta/@prgscoachhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/progress-over-perfection-coaching/-----------------------------------------------------------------------Intro and Outro music:Music: Right Ways [Original Mix] by Imperss is licensed under a Creative Commons License. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... Progress Over Perfection Coaching is a podcast focused on career management and development by offering insight on how to build an intentionally balanced and purpose-filled career. What am I meant to do? What is my purpose? Do I have a calling in life? How can I answer these questions and make sure that I am on the right path to happiness and fulfillment? These are all pretty heavy questions, and the means to answering these is going to be different for each individual. However, Ikigai is a culturally ingrained Japanese concept that is often used to describe those who have answered these questions for themselves. In this first of a five part series on career planning, we'll explore Ikigai as a foundation for building your own career plan based on what is right for you.-----------------------------------------------------------------------More information about Progress Over Perfection Coaching can be found at:https://prgscoach.com/https://app.delenta.com/ta/@prgscoachhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/progress-over-perfection-coaching/-----------------------------------------------------------------------Intro and Outro music:Music: Right Ways [Original Mix] by Imperss is licensed under a Creative Commons License. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...
