Using alchemy and electricity, a man builds a doorway that's meant to isolate the mind of anyone who passes through it. A merchant vessel enters a system with rigid laws about visitors, and almost succeeds in making a lucrative delivery, when it encounters a potentially deadly obstacle. Genre: Science Fiction Excerpt: We had obtained the means of shielding certain sections of engineering and the crew quarters. Cargo, I was happy to be transparent about. But there were things aboard my ship that I needed to hide. And I couldn't expect the crew to remove every questionable item. Our chief engineer would have disembarked if we didn't fly with a sufficient supply of his favorite snack, mokkie-bars. What story or stories am I revisiting in this episode?Each Season 8 episode is a standalone story, but it's connected to or inspired by a previous story through a character, a place, an object, a concept, a continuation of events (ahem, sequel), and so on. But in those times, to truly live and to thrive as they were meant to, plants also required a nourishment that not many legends speak of. The spirit of an animated being, that is, the spirit of an animal. What story or stories am I revisiting in this episode? Each Season 8 episode is a standalone story, but it's connected to or inspired by a previous story through a character, a place, an object, a concept, a continuation of events (ahem, sequel), and so on. I've written a number of food-based stories, and not all of them are dessert-based. Having narrowly slipped the grasp of Dr. Hooks and Coral Nomad, the agents have taken a desperate gamble and now find themselves airborne, hunted, fraying, and on borrowed time. Having narrowly escaped the clutches of Innsmouth's ever-vigilant law enforcement, our intrepid investigators seek refuge in the salt-bitten village of Falcon Point—a place where the coffee is black, the rum is questionably legal, and the fishermen gaze into the horizon like men who've seen too much… and lived to regret it. The time for secondhand stories is over. With their leads running dry, the investigators finally set foot in Innsmouth—a rotting harbor town swaddled in fog and legends. What begins as a cursory stroll in their sedan soon twists into something far more unsettling. At a crumbling flophouse, they trace the last known movements of Kennedy's old shipmate, Zadok Allen. A suspiciously timed flat tire strands them there just long enough for Dr. Rooke to cross paths with Constable Birch—a man with eyes too wide and lips too flat to be entirely human. Then, led by a town drunk named Bilaki, who swears he knows Zadok, the team finally stops at The Garden Bar & Grill. Here, Freddy follows whispers of hidden tunnels beneath the streets. But something in the air is wrong—like the town itself is watching. Whether they leave on foot, by car, or at all, Innsmouth will not let them go unchanged.
