A monthly podcast celebrating Appalachian Literature & Writing
Appalachian Mountains
The Read Appalachia podcast is a truly remarkable resource for anyone with a love for Appalachian literature. As a writer hailing from Northern Appalachia, I am incredibly grateful that this podcast exists to showcase the diverse and vibrant literary tradition of our region. Hosted by Kendra, this podcast provides a platform for Appalachian writers to share their stories and engage in thoughtful discussions about their work and the issues close to their hearts. It is a soothing and inspiring podcast that renews hope in the future of Appalachian literature.
One of the best aspects of The Read Appalachia podcast is Kendra's ability to bring together a multitude of voices and views. She does an exceptional job of presenting Appalachia and its people as they truly are - creative, thoughtful, diverse, and bold. Each episode features different guests who offer unique perspectives on the region and its literature. This diversity not only enriches the discussions but also provides listeners with a well-rounded understanding of the complexities within Appalachian culture. It is refreshing to see such inclusivity in a podcast dedicated to Appalachia.
Furthermore, Kendra's long-standing advocacy for Appalachian literature shines through in each episode of The Read Appalachia podcast. Her passion for highlighting the talented authors from our region is evident, as she goes above and beyond to ensure their stories are heard and celebrated. This dedication is commendable as it brings much-needed attention to Appalachian literature, which often gets overshadowed by mainstream literary traditions. By centering Appalachian writers and their narratives, Kendra has created a space where they can thrive.
While it is challenging to find any significant flaws in The Read Appalachia podcast, one potential drawback could be the relatively niche audience it attracts. Since it focuses solely on Appalachian literature, some listeners who are not familiar with or interested in this genre may find it less appealing. However, for those who have an affinity for regional literature or are curious about the rich literary heritage of Appalachia, this podcast is an absolute gem.
In conclusion, The Read Appalachia podcast is a must-listen for anyone interested in Appalachian literature. Kendra's dedication to highlighting and celebrating the talented authors from our region is commendable, and she does so in a way that incorporates diverse voices and perspectives. This podcast not only renews hope in the future of Appalachian literature but also serves as an important platform for Appalachian writers to share their stories. I am grateful for this resource and highly recommend it to writers, readers, and anyone with a love for books and Appalachian culture.
