Jack McCauley and Luke Mounger unveil their first podcast under a new name, Mac and Mounger, for the 2025 season. In this 33-minute collaboration, the Dawgman lifelong interns share their rankings of each position group as the Washington Husky Football team prepares for their second year under Jedd Fisch. They swear they didn't share their lists before recording; however, their lists are eerily similar with a few discrepancies that spark debate. Nevertheless, Jack and Luke unpack the depth, upside, and star power the Dawgs bring to the table at each spot. Throughout this season, Jack and Luke will have a weekly podcast underscoring storylines for the week. Also, they will have three recurring segments: Bets to Bark - one player from each side of the ball to pop in the upcoming game. Betting B1G - three of their favorite plays for that week in B1G football. Confidence Interval - their level of confidence that the Washington Huskies will win that weekend's football game. Send Us Your Questions & Feedback! From "Crazy Train" to Calm Sanctuary: What Ozzy Osbourne Taught Me About Windows & LifeThis ain't your usual window treatment podcast, folks. But then again, I'm not your usual window guy. This week, we're doing a deep dive into something unexpected: the passing of a legend, Ozzy Osbourne. His music—the soundtrack to my youth—revealed some profound truths about the spaces we create and the lives we live.Join me, Roger, as we peel back the layers (pun intended) on how rock anthems relate to the smooth power of motorized shades, and how a "Shot in the Dark" isn't just a haunting melody, but a reminder of the sanctuary blackout shades can create. In this episode, we'll explore:The "Crazy Train" of Transformation: How smart home automation brings instant change to your space, just like a classic riff electrifies a stadium.Finding Sanctuary in the "Shot in the Dark": The unexpected peace and protection that comes from truly dark, personal spaces. How to "Bark at the Moon" with Your Decor: Embracing bold, unapologetic design choices that make your home scream you.The Feeling of "Mama, I'm Coming Home": Crafting spaces that truly feel like a sanctuary, a place where you can finally drop your guard. The Drama of "Mr. Crowley": Layered treatments that bring theatrical elegance and refined rebellion to your windows."No More Tears": How good design can be therapy, helping us reclaim our space, release what holds us back, and find healing. It's about more than just fabric and function. It's about identity, memory, and giving your home—and your life—its own unapologetic volume. Because if Ozzy taught me anything, it's that sometimes the most profound lessons come from the loudest places. This isn't just about music or windows. It's about showing up. Living loud. And transforming your space, one powerful decision at a time.Inspiring Blog - https://www.shadesinplace.com/ozzy-osbourne-shades-home-memories/

This week's quiz: On 5 July, I asked you a question about an article written by RFI English journalist Amanda Morrow: “Ocean campaigners hail French move to snuff out cigarette butt pollution”. In her article, we learned that cigarette ends, or butts, are filled with microplastics and that when they break apart, they leach chemicals into soil and water. France has banned smoking on beaches, in public parks, and at bus stops, as well as near schools, libraries, swimming pools, and sports grounds. You were to re-read Amanda's article and send in the answer to this question: How many liters of water can a single cigarette butt contaminate? The answer is, to quote Amanda's article: “According to the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, a single cigarette butt can contaminate up to 500 liters of water.” In addition to the quiz question, there was the bonus question, suggested by long-time RFI Listeners Club member Nasyr Muhammad from Katsina State, Nigeria: “What is your favorite prize you've received from RFI, and why?” Do you have a bonus question idea? Rosalia Rivera, a fervent Founder and Co-Founder for Consent Parenting and Brave Movement.org joins us to dissect the multifaceted challenges of raising children in a tech-saturated era. Together, we discuss the urgent issue of online harm regarding the lack of tech transparency of CSAM, (Child Sexual Abuse Material) sexploitation of teens and youth being targets through online apps, social media platforms and online gaming. By describing the internet and the app store to a bustling mall that kids can actively browse and instantly download, without any age gating or device age regulation, we underscore the need for parental vigilance and legislative measures like the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) to shield our youth from unintended digital dangers and predatory harms. Our conversation emphasizes the critical role parents, our communities and our non-profits continue to advocate for tech KOSA policy, which was a supported issue by both parties of Congress in 2024, but has since been sidelined. However, with the proliferation of AI Sexual Content on the rise, KOSA and AI safety regulation need to be that play a vital role in the digital landscape as we are moving faster into the AI stratosphere. As we both do support technology as critical tools to help our daily lives, we turn our attention to the innovative technologies and organizations dedicated to child safety, such as BARK PHONES, THORN and HEAT. Companies like Bark and Pinwheel offer phone solutions alternatives for monitoring digital interactions, while organizations such as Thorne, Heat and Child Rescue Coalition work tirelessly to combat child exploitation. The discussion pivots to our own tech habits and the powerful influence they wield on our children. By advocating for mindful technology use and supporting companies that prioritize child safety, we encourage listeners to take an active role in shaping a safer digital future for all. Have you ever asked yourself: Am I really aware of how much social media and online content is influencing my kids? Have I noticed my kids becoming overly focused on their physical appearance or diet? How do I handle conversations about nutrition and fitness at home? If you've noticed your son obsessing over his physique or protein intake, or your daughter silently struggling with self-worth because of what she sees online, this episode is for you. Larry and Rich dive deep into how today's digital landscape is distorting kids' perceptions of themselves, driving issues like body dysmorphia, disordered eating, and unhealthy relationships with food and fitness—affecting boys and girls earlier than ever before. You'll hear real talk on what warning signs to watch out for, how to foster healthy conversations about food and body image, and the steps you can take to protect your kids from the relentless pressures of curated perfection online. Plus, learn practical strategies for monitoring your child's digital world and discover why it's crucial to model resilience, open dialogue, and authentic self-worth in your home. Whether you're a dad, coach, or mentor, this episode is your wake-up call and toolbox—because the world is changing, and as fathers, we need to step up, disrupt the status quo, and help our kids build unshakeable confidence in themselves. Become the best husband you can: https://bit.ly/deamarriageyoutube In this vital conversation, we dig into: Why Social Media Is A Game-Changer: Unlike the occasional magazine we grew up with, today's kids are constantly exposed to unrealistic body standards, curated feeds, and supplement ads designed to make them feel “less than.” The result? Kids (especially boys ages 12-14!) are reporting anxiety, body dysmorphia, compulsive exercising, and disordered eating at skyrocketing rates. Spot the Warning Signs: It's not just about undereating—obsession with protein grams, excessive workouts, and constant flexing in the mirror can all point to an unhealthy relationship with food and body image. Smart Conversations, Not Confrontations: The episode shares actionable tips to open up dialogue with your kids. Watch "Generation Flex" together, use it as a springboard for honest conversation, and focus on how food and fitness make us feel—not just how we look. Model Healthy Habits: As dads, it's not about being perfect—it's about showing our kids that food isn't “good” or “bad,” and that balance is key (yes, you can have that burger and a salad). Digital Safety for Peace of Mind: Larry also highlights tools like Bark, which alert you to concerning activity on your kids' devices—so you're not left in the dark about what they're seeing online. If you care about raising healthy, resilient sons and daughters in an always-connected world—and want to know the practical steps you can take at home—this episode is for you Here's what research and observation highlight about Studies show that hospitalizations for pediatric eating disorders rose by 139% from 2002 to 2018, with the largest relative increase seen in males aged 12 to 14 Boys and men now represent a third of all eating disorder diagnoses today Nearly 100% of kids with internet access are exposed to carefully curated or unrealistic fitness/body images daily. thedadedge.com/bark thedadedge.com/alliance https://menshealth.com @menshealthmag @richdorment Read more about Men's Health's documentary "Generation Flex": https://www.menshealth.com/generationflex Watch Generation Flex on Apple TV+:https://tv.apple.com/us/clip/generation-flex Watch Generation Flex on Amazon Prime Video: https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B0DJCND11R

And now for something completely different...in this special episode, we pay tribute to the late, great Ozzy Osbourne and each pick five of our favorite songs from the rock legend's career. So you may ask yourself, why are we doing an Ozzy episode on our classic alternative music podcast? We certainly don't want to be "those guys" who churn out opportunistic memorial episodes - but, quite simply, Uncle Gregg suggested "hey, we should do an Ozzy tribute" and Brett said "OK, let's do it." That's the way decisions are made here at O3L Headquarters...and six hours later, the episode is out to the world. John "Ozzy" Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76, a little more than two weeks after his final performance at the Back to the Beginning farewell concert, a massive show that featured a who's who of heavy metal musicians, culminating in a five song Ozzy solo set and a four song finale from Black Sabbath. Ozzy, of course, rose to prominence as the lead singer of Birmingham rock band Black Sabbath from the time of their formation in 1969 until his dismissal in 1979. Considered one of (if not THE) most influential bands in the evolution of heavy metal, Sabbath also consisted of guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward, releasing a string of classic albums like Black Sabbath (1970), Paranoid (1970), Master of Reality (1971), Vol. 4 (1972), Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973), Sabotage (1975), Technical Ectasy (1976), Never Say Die (1978) before Ozzy launched a fruitful solo career. Solo records include 1980's Blizzard of Ozz, 1981's Diary of a Madman, 1983's Bark at the Moon, and 1991's No More Tears, intertwined with occasional Black Sabbath reunions, most notably their 2013 album 13. Osbourne remained at the forefront of pop culture through his popular Ozzfest tours and his unlikely stint as a lovable TV Dad on the reality show The Osbournes. Learn more about your ad choices. Bob Daisley: The Unsung Hero of Rock and Roll For over five decades, bassist and songwriter Bob Daisley has been the powerhouse behind some of rock's most iconic recordings. From thunderous metal anthems to soulful blues and progressive ballads, Daisley's versatility and talent have made him a cornerstone in music history—working alongside legendary artists across the globe. Early Years: From Australia to the World Stage Born in Australia, Daisley moved to London at 21, chasing a future in music. On his 22nd birthday in 1972, he joined Stan Webb's band Chicken Shack. Just a year later, he signed on with Mungo Jerry, recording the hit single “Alright, Alright, Alright” and embarking on extensive international tours. Breaking Through: Widowmaker and Rainbow In 1974, Daisley rejoined Chicken Shack, but his creative ambitions led to co-founding Widowmaker in 1975. The band released two albums: Widowmaker (1976) and Too Late to Cry (1977), earning acclaim in the UK rock scene. Later that year, Daisley was tapped by guitar virtuoso Ritchie Blackmore to join Rainbow, alongside vocalist Ronnie James Dio and drummer Cozy Powell—forming what many consider the band's definitive lineup. Their explosive live shows and the album Long Live Rock ‘n' Roll solidified Rainbow's place in rock history. Blizzard of Ozz: Defining a Genre In 1979, Daisley partnered with Ozzy Osbourne and guitarist Randy Rhoads to form the Blizzard of Ozz. Their self-titled debut soared to #7 on the UK charts and went platinum in the U.S. They followed with Diary of a Madman (1981), which also achieved platinum status and further cemented the band's influence on heavy metal. Beyond the Blizzard: A Storied Career After a brief departure, Daisley returned to work with Osbourne on his third solo album. Tragedy struck in 1982 with Rhoads' untimely death, but the band pressed on, recording Bark at the Moon (1983) with new guitarist Jake E. Lee, earning international success. Daisley also joined Uriah Heep during this period and launched a prolific collaboration with guitar legend Gary Moore. He contributed to Victims of the Future and toured globally, later reuniting with Moore for Wild Frontier (1987) and Still Got the Blues (1990)—Moore's most successful album to date. 1990s & Beyond: Writing Hits, Shaping Legends Daisley returned once again to the Osbourne fold, co-writing and performing on No Rest for the Wicked (1988) and the chart-topping No More Tears (1991). That same decade, he formed Mother's Army with Jeff Watson of Night Ranger, releasing several albums showcasing his songwriting depth. Throughout the 2000s, he remained an in-demand collaborator, contributing to projects with Yngwie Malmsteen, Living Loud—a supergroup with Jimmy Barnes, Steve Morse, Don Airey, and Lee Kerslake—and revisiting classic Blizzard of Ozz material. Author and Legacy Builder In 2013, Daisley released his autobiography For Facts Sake, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at his life in rock. Though he has stepped back from touring, he remains a respected figure in the music industry, continuing to inspire through studio work and guest appearances. A Legacy Etched in Rock History Bob Daisley's basslines have underscored some of the most memorable moments in rock and metal. Whether writing, performing, or mentoring, his passion for music endures. With a legacy spanning continents and genres, Daisley remains a foundational figure in the world of rock and roll. #BobDaisley #RandyRhoads #OzzyOsbourne #JohnnyBeaneTV #RockLegends #BassGuitarIcon Want to create live streams like this? “There were some heroes and there were some zeroes…” BACK TO THE BEGINNING, the final concert performance by the O.G. lineup of BLACK SABBATH featuring Bill Ward, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, and Ozzy Osbourne (along with an all-star roster of top shelf rock & metal artists) was held at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham, England on 05/07/2025 (that's July 5th, 2025 for people in the United States) and raised nearly $200 Million for charity. While BACK TO THE BEGINNING will go down in heavy metal history as “The Live Aid of Metal”, it also represents a significant turning point and an emotional marker for metal fans from all over the world who came to pay homage and bid a celebratory yet poignant farewell to the Founding Fathers of Heavy Metal and The Prince Of Darkness. Ladies, prepare to comprehend why Pantera playing Sabbath songs at a Zeppelin tribute is as much a faux pas as “showing up to a funeral wearing a bridal gown”, gentlemen, understand how Slipknot's Sid Wilson is an absolute genius when it comes to remembering landmark dates with that special someone, and as for everybody else, break out your assortment of relaxers and various modalities of twanglification and JOIN US as we celebrate Sabbath, Ozzy, and all things metal with our take on BACK TO THE BEGINNING. The guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Michelle O'Neil, author of the book Dog Park. Michelle also authored the memoir Daughter of the Drunk at the Bar. She has a background as a freelance writer in Washington DC, and her work has been featured in Literary Mama, Brain Child, Age of Autism, The Bark!, Cool Cleveland, and other publications. She is an RN, BSN, and teaches yoga in a large retirement community in SC. In her book review, guest-host Carole O'Neill stated Dog Park: Tales of Heartbreak, Laughter, Community and Hope is a wonderful contemporary fiction. You don't even have to like dogs to enjoy this book. Every time I drive by the dog park in our neighborhood, I try to imagine the stories playing out among the owners. Michelle has captured the socialization happening within those fences. From widows using the park to prevent an otherwise lonely afternoon, to the young girl escaping the abuse of her father, each story will make you realize there is more going on than what first meets the eye. The optimism, strength and sadness I read about throughout the book gave me a new outlook on the pet owners who spend time at the park – an actual community behind the gate. O'Neil's characters are engaging, full of engaging backstories. I haven't had a dog for many years, but this book has given me a reason to revisit that decision. Marc Schölermann is an acclaimed German director who made his feature debut with Pathology, a psychological thriller produced by MGM/Lakeshore and starring Alyssa Milano. His latest film, Bark, is a horror thriller about a man who wakes up tied to a tree with no memory of how he got there. Remarkably, the entire story unfolds within a single 10-by-10-foot space—making Bark not just a gripping watch, but a masterclass in single-location filmmaking.Marc shot the film in just nine days.
