Chasta Michaelis, on-air radio personality at 107.7 The Bone and TV Host at Soundwaves TV presents "Rock Your Life." The Rock Your Life concept centers around putting maximum energy and effort into every aspect of your life. Whether it’s family, wellness, work, music, dreams, goals, aspirations…whatever you’re doing…ROCK IT!
The Rock Your Life podcast is a truly inspiring and uplifting show that has quickly become one of my favorites. Hosted by Chasta and sometimes joined by Sydney, the podcast covers a variety of topics and brings on a wide range of guests to share their insights and experiences.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is Chasta's transparency and relatability. She approaches each episode with an "I'm not an expert" mindset, which makes her incredibly relatable to listeners. Her energy is infectious, and it feels like you're having a conversation with a friend while listening to the show. The diversity in guests also adds depth to the discussions, providing different perspectives on various topics.
I also appreciate the multi-generational view provided by Sydney in some episodes. It's refreshing to hear different age groups discussing the same topics, as it helps broaden my own understanding and challenges any preconceived notions I may have.
On the downside, there are times when I wish the episodes were longer. Sometimes the conversations feel cut short, and I find myself wanting more in-depth discussions on certain topics. However, this can also be seen as a positive aspect because it leaves me eager for more content.
In conclusion, The Rock Your Life podcast is a must-listen for anyone seeking inspiration, personal growth, and thought-provoking conversations. Chasta's energy, relatability, and variety of guests make this show a standout among other podcasts. Whether you're looking for nuggets of wisdom or simply want to hang out with an uplifting friend during your daily activities, this podcast will not disappoint. Overall, I highly recommend subscribing to The Rock Your Life podcast for regular doses of positivity and motivation.
There's no time like the present to Rock Your Life! I'm back baby!!
For years I've tried to prioritize meditation in my daily habits but I always feel rushed and like I'm trying to squeeze in another "thing to do." That's not exactly the right mindset to have about something that is supposed to bring you zen. Thanks to the wise words of author Mel Robbins, I'm trading out focused meditation with mindful moments. Let's chat through the difference. Creating vision boards and manifesting your wildest dreams is such a fun way to start thinking about goals and aspirations that sometimes seem so far out there that you'll have to win the lottery or come across the craziest string of luck to get them. Notice I said that was the FUN part. Now, let's get into the dirty work. How can you start putting together action items and steps to actually achieve those things? The power is in your hands. On this episode, Chasta talks about the importance of creating tangible steps to tackle and achieve those lifelong manifestations and visions. It's been a busy summer over here, from new jobs to running a business to raising an almost kindergartener, it's easy to find things overwhelming, big and small, when juggling so many hats. I'm sure it's been a busy summer for you too. In seasons of busyness it's easy to point out things that aren't working or dwell on things you might be lacking in your day to day life but I challenge you to shift your thinking from what went wrong to what went right, even for a minute. Help your future self out by doing that top rack of dishes or making healthy choices at the dinner table or even asking for help with tasks and those acts of goodness you're making an effort to shower on yourself will start to add up. Force yourself to look for the good and you'll start to see it without even trying. This year marks 19 years in radio and/or tv and in that time on the air (and being in the public eye) I've dealt with my fair share of “haters.” These days with the popularity of social media you don't even need to have a public job to deal with bullying. So, what have I learned from it? Well, lots...but we'll boil it down to a few main points in this podcast. Have you dealt with hate on social media? How do you handle it? I think it's safe to say that most people are ready to jump back into the world after Covid. However, for some people transitioning back to reality may not be as easy as ripping off your mask and going back exactly to the way things were. There are going to be some complicated decisions to be made and we need to give each other grace as we make this big transition. How will your life look post pandemic? Will you continue to work from home? Will you continue to wear a mask in public? Will you go to major events with thousands of people? What (or maybe even who) did you "leave behind" in quarantine that you're ok leaving behind all together? These are all questions that will come up and that we need to think about as we head back into whatever is next. Over the weekend I had a once in a lifetime experience with a STRANGE spa treatment and it made me think more about the idea of “Choosing the Bigger Life” that I learned from author, Gretchen Rubin. I brought my Mom onto the podcast to talk about our international travel adventures as that's how we “choose the bigger life.” We have trekked through the Czech Republic, Morocco, India, China, Thailand, Cambodia and Costa Rica. These trips have enriched our lives in so many ways from seeing the beauty of these places to seeing things that have broken our hearts and gave us new found perspective. “You Can Do Hard Things.” Time and time again I see that said in the “self help space.” People post those memes on Facebook, yell it in video clips on Instagram and I've even see it printed on canvases at craft stores. But here's a question…do you believe it? When “s” hits the fan, do you really believe you have what it takes to do hard things. Here's the answer…YES YOU DO. This week I breathe fire on the podcast. Nothing gets me fired up more than giving my community a pep talk and encouraging you to believe you are the warrior that I KNOW YOU ARE. I've mentioned several times about writing a daily gratitude list. But here's the question of the week...how connected are you to the things you are grateful for? Are you jotting them down to check that off your list or are you really connecting to the gratitude you feel for those things or people? Recently, I've been dealing with some health issues/questions and it has really put things into sharp perspective for me. On this week's episode we'll talk about the idea of savoring gratitude. Savoring just means that we attempt to FULLY feel, enjoy, and extend our positive experiences. Savoring is a great way to develop a long-lasting stream of positive thoughts and emotions. Here is a great article from "Psychology Today" about savoring gratitude. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/click-here-happiness/201807/what-is-savoring-and-why-is-it-the-key-happiness Connect With Me: Instagram: @chastalynn Facebook: @chastaradio Twitter: @chasta Email - chastaonair@gmail.com Info & Merch: www.chastalynn.com

Over the last several months I have partnered with the great organization Harper For Kids to be a public speaker for kids in schools (via zoom). This opportunity has really become a HUGE blessing for me. The kid's questions have put a magnifying glass on my life and have forced me to really focus on questions like what is my definition of success, how do I deal with failure, what is the why behind this podcast? When impressionable kids ask you these important questions you want to have some great advice to give them. During these talks the teachers and principles have mentioned these are great lessons for kids but also great reminders for adults. So, I decided to edit one of my question answering sessions into a podcast to share with you. I hope you take the time to answer these questions for yourself. On this episode of the podcast, I am sitting down to chat with a true muse of mine, Hillary Banks. I am proud to introduce you to this thoughtful, genuine and authentic women who constantly challenges me to grow and evolve. Today we discuss how your mind responds to the words you use. Are you speaking power into your life, or are you disempowering yourself? In your inner narrative, is facing a blank page terrifying or thrilling? Is your solitude joyful or depressing? Is quarantine a nightmare or an opportunity? Do you “have to” do something or do you “get to” do something? You are the director of your thoughts and attitude. It's time to take responsibility for the programs running in our mind. Choose your words. Direct your thoughts. This is the art of self-control. I have read a lot about building habits or "habit stacking" and I understand the power in great habits. What I find just as powerful is the idea of "success stacking." It's the idea of creating small goals, pushing through with that goal to succeed, gaining the confidence from that success and then building on top of that. This can be applied to all aspects of life from moving our bodies in the "Rock Your Life" challenge to work related goals to relationship goals and beyond. 2020 has served us up a lot of tragedy and unexpected events. Death has become something we now talk about on a regular basis. There are even tickers on the news tallying up the dead. It's a very dark time. So, I think it's time we talk about death and the unexpected. While this year has reminded us how uncertain life is…the truth is life is ALWAYS unknown. We never know what tomorrow brings, we can only control how we live and the legacy we leave behind. This may be a dark and morbid topic but it's necessary to start to come to terms with the unknown. How can we turn the end of our life into something beautiful? There is a way. Let's talk about it. “They say you die twice. This week my guest, Jennifer, created her company, Jordan's Gems, after learning that her unborn baby (Jordan) had a heart defect and wouldn't be able to be born alive. At that time, Jennifer had to wait out another month of pregnancy and she desperately needed something to help keep her mind off of what was happening in her body. This week I'm challenging you to check in with your WHY? Do you often look at WHY you do the things you do? Why do you stick with a job you don't like, why are you in that relationship, why are you still friends with that person, why haven't you started that side hustle? It's time for us to dig into the WHY. I chose the focus word "intention" for the year 2020 and answering the question of "why" helps me live life with more intention. Today there seems to be a crisis of purpose and meaning. Finding your sense of purpose is important as a clear sense of purpose enables you to focus your efforts on what matters most which compels you to take risks and push forward regardless of what's going on in this crazy world. This episode is about so much more than organization. I found Lisa Woodruff from Organize 365 when my son, Cody, was around 1 year old. Because I was previously a "Type A" personality, that made for a tough transition into the chaos that motherhood can bring. I quickly felt overwhelmed by the craziness of every day life as a full time working mother with a child. The mail was stacking up, the dishes were always dirty and we had toys and books absolutely everywhere. Lisa's very real and functional approach to organization married with the systems she has developed taught me how to take back my house, learn to have better time management and most importantly give myself grace along the way. I am so grateful for everything she has taught me and as you can hear from the pure excitement in my voice, she has had a very real impact on my life. Sometimes as a parent your kid will smack you over the head with a life lesson you didn't see coming. That happened with me recently when my son (he's 4) told me to "slow down" as I was doing a million things around the house. It didn't seem he meant to slow down physically...it was more as if he could see all the "tabs" open in my brain and was telling me to take a load off. It hit me hard and made me start thinking about the lessons we can learn from our "little ones." If you have an an experience like this with your child I'd love to hear about it. Let's talk about the detrimental effects of negative self-talk. This recently came up in my life as I realized I had gained a few "Quarantine Pounds" and had fallen into the bad behavior of self comparison and negative self-talk. Most obviously, this idea of mental bashing applies to body image but it also applies to other aspects of our life. We can talk ourselves out of doing big things or we can use negative self-talk to minimize goals. There are actually 10 different types of negative self-talk that we'll get into from this article by Psychologist, Nick Wignall. Here is the link to the article I discuss. https://nickwignall.com/negative-self-talk/ Connect with me: Instagram: @chastalynn Facebook: @chastaradio Twitter: @chasta Email - chastaonair@gmail.com Info & Merch - www.chastalynn.com
