Storyline: Aaron Boone (Craig Sheffer) is haunted by terrifying nightmares of a city of monsters. He goes to see a psychiatrist, Dr. Decker (David Cronenberg), for help. But what Boone doesn't know is that Decker is really a serial killer. Decker frames Boone to take the fall for his murders, and Boone is killed by the police. But Boone is brought back to life by the monsters of his dreams, the Nightbreed, who in turn join Boone in his quest to stop Decker from killing again. Storyline: After a carefree teenager, Jay (Maika Monroe) sleeps with her new boyfriend, Hugh (Jake Weary), for the first time, she learns that she is the latest recipient of a fatal curse that is passed from victim to victim via sexual intercourse. Death, Jay learns, will creep inexorably toward her as either a friend or a stranger. Jay's friends don't believe her seemingly paranoid ravings until they too begin to see the phantom assassins and band together to help her flee or defend herself. Sick Folks of Cinema Ep.24 Eli (2019) In this week's episode, we seek treatment for a rare disease inside a medical facility that looks like a haunted house. Storyline: Eli Miller is a young boy suffering from a rare disease that causes severe allergic reactions to the outdoors, forcing him to live his life in protective gear. His parents, Rose and Paul, have taken him to Dr. Isabella Horn's secluded medical facility, a large, old house that has been modernized and quarantined. Eli is initially overjoyed that the facility allows him to remove his "bubble suit", embrace his parents, and enjoy comforts previously denied to him. His joy is short-lived, however, as he begins to experience supernatural phenomena in the house. He also begins his treatments, which are excruciatingly painful. The specters repeatedly leave him the message lie, and Eli begins to wonder if they are trying to warn him about Horn's treatments. We're not talking about mom's horribly disgusting Christmas cookies filled with satans boogers aka raisins. We're talking beautiful holiday horror goodness folks. In this week's episode, we discuss and review 2006's remake of Black Christmas. Directed by Glen Morgan and Produced by James Wong. Synopsis: The holiday season turns deadly for a group of sorority sisters (Katie Cassidy, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lacey Chabert, Michelle Trachtenberg) who are stranded at their campus house during a snowstorm. These coeds better watch out, for a vicious killer is on the loose, and he will not care if they are naughty or nice. Black Christmas (2006) -Director Glen Morgan signed on to write and direct the film after the release of his 2003 remake of Willard. The shooting took place in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2005. The film was co-distributed by Dimension Films and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. According to Morgan, he and Wong had numerous disputes with Dimension executives Bob and Harvey Weinstein regarding the tone of the script as well as the film's conclusion, which resulted in numerous re-writes and re-shoots. 2.) The original Black Christmas (1974) horror film was directed by Bob Clark who also made the cult holiday classic "A Christmas Story." 3.) The smash-hit Halloween came out in 1978 and is sometimes hailed as the first slasher film ever made let's not forget that the original (1974) Black Christmas came out four years before John Carpenter's Halloween film. However, nobody denies the unbelievable box office success of the original Halloween movie which made 70 million dollars on a budget of $325,000 US dollars (1978). Sick Folks Of Cinema Ep.6 In this week's episode, we review and discuss the 1977 Dario Argento Italian horror classic "Suspiria". Synopsis: Suzy (Jessica Harper) travels to Germany to attend ballet school. When she arrives, late on a stormy night, no one lets her in, and she sees Pat (Eva Axén), another student, fleeing from the school. When Pat reaches her apartment, she is murdered. The next day, Suzy is admitted to her new school but has a difficult time settling in. She hears noises and often feels ill. As more people die, Suzy uncovers the terrifying secret history of the place. Suspiria is a part of "The Three Mothers" series of horror films which also includes Inferno and Mother of Tears.
