We truly lived by the phrase "Beware the Ides of March" as we return after a month long hiatus that saw us put March in the rearview. We discuss our faith (or complete lack thereof), Addison talks about being in a committed relationship and almost enrolling in bible college, Nicholas talks the most dreaded month on his calendar, recent anxiety issues, his recent show/travel experiences and feeling out of sorts with a few close friends. We talk last weeks "lost" episode that was more like a lot of us being snippy back and forth and we prepare for next week's big "Ask Addy Daddy" venture. At some point in our life, we all get that bad news call that shakes our world. Whether it is the passing of a loved one, a loss of job, or the end of a relationship, we all must find a way to process bad news. This past week, Nicholas received a potential "goodbye" phone call from a friend that rocked his world. We will use this situation to assess the best ways to process bad news and how to cope while you are feeling the process. We also look back at some listener comments regarding last week's episode. We all have that friend that ditches us as soon as they get a significant other. Why is it like this with certain friends? And how do we speak up about it without causing friction or hurting feelings? We look right to one of the most trusted sources for information on dating and how to approach this...That's right, ladies and gentlemen. This week we consult "Cosmopolitan" to remedy all of our angst. We discuss some past incidents involving our own past significant others and try to assess how we should have better handled these situations. We also read a message from an offended listener ready to give Addison a piece of his mind and use it as an opportunity for growth and seeing something from an alternate perspective. On October 5th, 2017 former master patrol officer Roger Montez responded to a call that would change his (and many other lives) forever. During a standoff with police, an armed 29 year old man made his way towards officer Montez (and other officers) who pleaded for the man to show them his hands. During this incident, officer Montez and a sheriff's deputy were put into the position of having to fire upon the suspect, which ultimately took his life. Prior to this incident, Roger Montez had already dealt with unthinkable amounts of mental anguish in his own personal life. On this episode of "Tall, Dark & Random" we will be joined by Roger Montez himself and hear this incredibly emotional story in his own words. While many layers of his tale are considered dark and tragic, Montez has found a way to see the light at the end of the tunnel and has turned some harrowing moments into hope while finding a way to help other people survive, understand and accept their own personal tragedies. Our daily errands and tasks often find us in prime situations to witness the bad behavior of children in their naturals habitats. From school to the grocery store, trips into public mold and shape young minds through rules, routines and experience. But what happens when there is a complete parental disconnect? What if there are no consequences for poor behavior and no acknowledgement when there is a positive result? What becomes of a child when mom or dad can’t take their face out of their cell phone long enough to be present? We’ve taken to reddit this week in an effort to examine and discuss a few real life stories of people observing a breakdown between parent and child in public, often with disastrous results. Is it childhood mischief or stepping stones to bigger issues? We’re shows like “Wife Swap” created to make us feel better about who we are as parents?
