Join Myke and I as we talk about how working in kitchens really expanded our musical horizons. Myke shares what it was like to grow up in VA and how living in a house that doubled as a local DIY venue really inspired him to pursue being in bands. We talk about Myke's time in Bury Your Dead. How it was for him to find his voice, literally and figuratively, in a band that had an established sound, and the journey to taking the band to new heights before disbanding. We also touch on Myke's thoughts on the upcoming reunion/farewell shows that he isn't a part of. We also dive into the new single from Volumes and what we can expect from those guys in the near future. How he became the new vocalist of Fire From The Gods, balancing being in two bands and more in this episode. Interview by Kris PetersBrisbane/Meanjin metalcore outfit Wildheart have let their music do the talking from the outset, unafraid to tackle sensitive issues and even less distracted by the myriad of smokescreens that are rapidly punctuating the music scene as a whole.Their debut album Global Crisis – a body of work that drew attention and respect to a number of issues affecting Indigenous Australians – was named Gold Coast Music Awards Release Of The Year, also earning them a number of other awards and accolades. Not content to rest on their laurels, Wildheart followed that up last year with the brilliant single Sacred Ground before launching into 2024 with a new track Death Is All That's Left.HEAVY sat down recently with Andrew (drums) and Adam (guitar) to talk more about the exciting future for Wildheart. Death Is All That's Left was premiered via HEAVY last month, so we start by asking how the early reception has been."The reception has been awesome," Andrew smiled. "We've gotten a lot of positive reviews and comments and a lot of traction online and sharing across all the platforms. We started up a TikTok and that's been going well, so we're really happy with the response and feedback we've got. I feel like with every release we work on we're stepping it up a notch, and it felt good that it was recognised."We ask the boys to dive deeper into the track musically."We really just wanted to hone in on some more of my metalcore influence," Adam offered. "So channelling a lot of Lost Together, Lost Forever era Architects, older Parkway Drive… there's a bit of Bury Your Dead and stuff like that mixed in there too, but we wanted to write something fast and heavy."In the full interview the boys discuss the lyrical content of Death Is All That's Left and the message they are trying to get across, if they think the message is getting through with music, having a song featured on Friday Night AFL Footy, previous single Sacred Ground, if the two songs are stand-alone singles or part of something bigger, possible future musical directions, upcoming shows and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Self-care, health, and fulfillment were common themes in this episode, and we are excited for you to hear what it all means to Joe. @edict666 // @redemption_denied_

Episode 148 features a conversation Josh recently had with Joe Krewko. If you have been involved in the hardcore scene in the last 25 years, you are likely familiar with Joe's body of work. We talked about the many noteworthy bands Joe has been a part of, including As The Sun Sets, Blood Has Been Shed, Bury Your Dead, and She Rides. The reason we wanted to have Joe on now though was to talk about his current band Edict. We talked about everything the band has been up to since their inception, including the EP they recently released through Unbeaten Records and their upcoming shows. The conversation also centers around the topic of recovery. You can find ordering information for the record, as well as all other Edict info at the links below. Stick around after the episode to hear the song “Neck Dissection” from Edict's new EP “In Defense of Labor.” For updates on the band follow their Instagram account at @edict666 and Unbeaten Records at @unbeaten_records. https://merchnow.com/collections/unbeaten-records https://www.edict666.com For updates on the podcast follow: @HardcoreArchivePodcast and @EnterpriseHardcore --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/enterprise-hardcore-podcast/support
