In episode 16 of The One Fab Day Wedding Podcast, we're joined by the wonderful Aleisha McCormack from The Bridechilla Podcast to discuss a topic that we're all extremely passionate about: creating a wedding that sparks joy for you, your other half and your guests! We're (quite literally) taking a leaf out of Marie Kondo's book and showing you how to apply her much-loved KonMari method to your big day, which means ditching the non-essentials, and rethinking any elements that might be causing you stress. If you're looking for ways to stay organised for your wedding, this is the episode for you!Episode Breakdown: Episode 16: How to Marie Kondo Your WeddingWedding tip: Celina is adding yet another spreadsheet into the mix - this one will make sending thank-you cards a breeze!Main topic: We hope you're ready for some wedding planning #realtalk! This week, with help from the hilarious and insightful Aleisha McCormack from The Bridechilla Podcast, Bridechilla.com and The Bridechilla Guides, we're embarking on a little experiment: applying the KonMari method to wedding planning! By the end of this episode, you should be ready to wave goodbye to any elements of your big day that aren't working for you, and resume planning a celebration that is delightfully clutter-free.Wedding dilemma: A listener writes, "The venue we booked some time ago has recently redecorated the main function room where we will be having our dinner and spending most of our day. We were not aware they were changing the room until it was completed and were only able to see the room after we had made our big payment, and we are 12 weeks to our wedding day so this leaves us with very little options. The room has gone from a nice bright, clean slate with white walls, perfect for decorating, to a much darker, beige/ mushroom coloured room, with a strong geometric wallpaper on two large walls, which now makes it a very, very different room with a very different, formal feel. I could go on, but, suffice to say, the room is not to my taste at all and I feel really let down by the venue but feel there is nothing we can do about it. The venue have been unapologetic with the wedding planner simply saying she didn't do it. Do we have any rights here or is there anything I can do?” Our advice for this listener involves reshuffling the order of the day and bringing in an emergency stylist.Something to do when you're not planning your wedding: This week, Celina brings an exciting new food trend to the table, but Claire's not convinced!Bonus Q&A special: Celina and Claire appeared on Aleisha's podcast a few weeks ago, answering some of her listeners' dilemmas - click here to give it a listen! Thanks for listening! Now you’ve gotten the engagement out of the way, how do you plan your dream wedding without having to sell an organ to pay for it?  Does using the word "wedding" really make a quote three times higher?  And how do you keep those family members or ‘wedding donors’ from trying to take control in exchange for their generosity? There's no denying weddings are expensive and it's easy to feel pressure to spend way more than you can afford.  But is a wedding any better if it's four times the price or should you worry more about staying out of debt so you can start your new life on the right foot? There's nothing uncool about sticking to a budget and in this episode of Hitched we're here to help you ditch perfection and stick to your budget.  Subscribe to Hitched here. The average cost of a wedding in the U.S. is $33,391 according to Business Insider and from my experience, many of us spend money on items in our wedding that might not be the most beneficial to our bank account. I recently was a guest on Aleisha McCormak's Bridechilla podcast, so I figured it would great to have Aleisha share with you some of her favorite wedding do's and don'ts when it comes to spending your cash.On This Podcast Episode:She's a comedian and a TV presenter from the U.K. who turned her wisdom from planning her own wedding into a top-rated iTunes podcast, Bridechilla. Aleisha McCormack, known fondly as The Bridechilla, because she’s the host of the hit #1 wedding planning podcast called Bridechilla, isn’t a wedding planner, a gown designer, or a wedding caterer...she’s just a gal (well she’s an author, comedian and TV producer) with an on-point Australian accent who likes to help people be chiller brides, the same way I like to help people be chiller healthy eaters.   But hold on!!! Don’t skip this podcast if you already did the wedding thing (or aren’t even close to doing the wedding thing) because I promise, we talk about a heck of a lot of important stuff that’s NOT wedding related. (And between you and me, Aleisha’s whole wedding-themed podcast really is an inspiring life podcast disguised under the wedding guide. Sneaky sneaky.) A little warning here: swears are sworn during this chat so if you have little kiddos in the room or a cat or a dog or a plant whom you don’t want to hear naughty words that sound deceptively not naughty because they’re said in a cute Australian accent, you might wanna pop in those headphones, or take out those earmuffs. :-)   Press play to hear:   Our collective disdain for the “sick shit” of shedding for the wedding. How to apply the “fuck the chair covers” mentality to your everyday non-wedding planning life. To tradition or not tradition? We talk about how to decide. How weddings are a great metaphor for life. The thing that I did for my wedding that earned me “10 Goldchilla Bridechilla Points” from Aelisha! The rule of fake smiling and how to apply it to your everyday life. A little chitter chatter from one female comedian to the other. And so much more!   Links related to this episode: The full show notes with all the deets from this episode! Dear listener, you are cordially invited to the wedding of Wolf Pup & Gamble in this, the S03E05 reaction pod ep for the REAL HOUSEWIVES OF MELBOURNE, featuring the delightful ALEISHA McCORMACK. No RHOM wedding ever goes smoothly. There's always controversy and this time it's Gamble's "bestie" Gina that brings the pain - while all the others create their own special and unique brands of chaos. The Byron on Byron is the locale for the controversy and you won't want to miss a minute of: missing & stylish husbands; Celebrity Apprentice-gate; even more slack-jawed Ruprecht; Lydia & Jackie v Pettifleur; Alin *WAY* out of his depth; and the but-could-it-be-washed-out (we've all seen the promos and know it couldn't be) beach wedding of Rick & Gamble.
