If Enrolments Are Lower Than You'd Like, Here's Exactly What I'd Do

If your dance studio enrolments are lower than you expected this term, this episode is a practical reset.March is clarity month. The energy has settled. The numbers are now telling you something. Instead of reacting emotionally, I walk you through exactly what I would do if I were sitting in your chair. Not hype. Not random internet advice. Real strategy. Here's the order I'd follow:1. Define the Real Gap How many students down are you? What does that mean in revenue? Which age groups or classes are affected? “We're down” is a feeling. Clarity creates direction.2. Check Retention Before Chasing More Leads Before increasing marketing, I'd assess re-enrolment, onboarding, early-term check-ins and class stability. Stabilise before you scale.3. Activate Mid-Term Momentum Many families commit around Weeks 5–6 once school routines settle. A structured short-term pass, clear messaging and confident integration can convert this second window.4. Refine Conversion Before Spending on Ads If your trial-to-enrolment rate is under 60 percent, I wouldn't increase ad spend. I'd tighten enquiry response time, follow-up, trial experience and next-step clarity.5. Strengthen Team Energy Parents feel leadership. I'd re-align teacher expectations, communication tone and studio culture. Growth follows stability.6. Set a 30-Day Focus One number. One timeframe. One strategy. Close the gap calmly instead of trying to fix the whole year. What I would not do: Panic discount. Add five new programs. Reshuffle the timetable mid-term. Copy someone else's promotion.Enrolment dips are rarely just a marketing problem. They're a systems, retention and leadership clarity signal. When foundations are strong, dips become adjustments, not emergencies. If you want the framework I use to stabilise and increase enrolments right now:Download your Reset Guide HereAnd if you're ready for tailored strategy, deeper clarity and sustainable scale:Click the link to Apply for the MastermindClarity first. Picture a physio who launched her first online program with seven people enrolled. Six of whom she already knew personally. A sales page with no checkout connected. A program she hadn't finished recording yet. That was Vicky Stewart's launch one.Her most recent launch just crossed six figures.Today's guest, Dr. Vicky Stewart, is a vestibular physiotherapist who spent years watching patients with chronic dizziness fall through the cracks of traditional healthcare. She built The Shift, a 10-week online group program, to reach the people her clinical hours never could. She didn't have a following, a marketing budget, or a polished funnel when she started. She had a clear problem, a willingness to start messy, and the psychological capacity to treat early results as data rather than verdicts. This conversation is about what it actually looks like to build something over time, across seven launches, when the numbers are small at first and the fear is loud throughout.HERE ARE THE 3 KEY TAKEAWAYS:1️⃣ Your First Launch Is Not a Verdict, It's a Data Point — Seven people enrolled, six of whom Vicky already knew. Most people would have interpreted that as proof the idea didn't work. Vicky interpreted it as proof of concept. If one person paid, others will too. That reframe, from verdict to data, is one of the most reliable predictors of whether a therapist keeps going or quietly shelves the whole thing.2️⃣ You Don't Need a Large Following to Fill a Program — Vicky built her early launches almost entirely through existing professional relationships, referrer networks, and speaking opportunities, including a keynote in Dubai, before she had any meaningful social media presence. The skills therapists already use to build referral networks in private practice transfer directly. You probably already have more reach than you think.3️⃣ Messy and Started Beats Perfect and Waiting, Every Single Time — Vicky launched her beta without a checkout page connected to her sales page. She was already in open cart week when she found out. She sorted it in real time, ran the program anyway, and built everything else from there. Seven launches later, she has a waitlist, a team member supporting her community, and her first six-figure result. None of that happens if she waits until she feels ready.YOU'LL ALSO HEAR:How Vicky's pricing evolved from $330 for her beta to $1,697 per enrolment, and what had to shift internally to make each price increase feel possibleWhy researching competitors actually made things harder, not easier, and what she decided to do insteadWhat it looked like practically to build this while working four days a week with three kids at homeThe moment her husband took a redundancy and what that did to her approach going into her most recent launchWhy she decided early on she was never going to dance on Instagram, and how she filled her program anywayThe listener question that stopped me in my tracks: "If you'd waited until you felt completely ready, where would you be today?"What Vicky says is the one breadcrumb she'd leave anyone who is still sitting on their ideaRESOURCES:Connect with Vicky Stewart:Website: dizzyresolve.comInstagram: @dizzyresolveYouTube: @dizzyresolveTherapists Rising Programs:Caseload to Course Bootcamp: therapistsrising.com/bootcampThe Incubator: therapistsrising.com/incubatorInstagram: @dr.hayleykellySUBSCRIBE & REVIEW: If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe and leave a review on Apple Podcasts. In this episode I walk you through the five key conversion triggers that I use (and recommend) when launching an online course, membership or coaching offer. I explain what each trigger is, how I implement it, why it works, and what you'll want in place for it to succeed.    Key Take-away These triggers aren't sneaky gimmicks—they're built on human decision-making and trust. When used authentically, they help people decide to say “yes” to your offer because they feel seen, convinced, and ready. Trigger 1: Reciprocity I open by talking about giving first. Before I ask someone to invest, I give value: a webinar, a guide, a free training. When I do that, I'm showing up for them and they're much more willing to engage later. In practice I look at: What free or low-risk offer I can deliver now.How that offer really helps someone move forward (not just a promo). How to make sure they know I'm not selling yet—I'm helping. Trigger 2: Scarcity Next I cover how limiting availability makes an offer more compelling. When I say “only X spots” or “this opens for a short time”, I raise the perceived value—and prompt decision. But I emphasise: the scarcity must be real. If it's not, trust is damaged. Here's how I apply it: I define a clear limitation (spots, seats, version, etc).I explain why the limitation exists (for quality, for group size, etc).I stay genuine: if there's no real limit, I don't pretend there is one. Trigger 3: Urgency Here I talk about using time-based pressure—not to scare, but to encourage action. I make clear there is a window, the clock is running, and when it closes things change. My implementation methods: I set a deadline for enrolment.I send reminders as that deadline approaches.I frame what people will miss out on if they wait (and then close).I avoid making it feel pushy—instead I help them decide while the offer is fresh. Trigger 4: Social Proof Claiming you can deliver results is one thing—showing that others did it is far stronger. I dig into testimonials, case studies, visible community results. When someone sees someone like them succeed, they feel: “If they can do it, maybe I can too.” How I use it: I collect client stories (before/after, journey, outcome).I place those stories in the launch funnel (emails, page, live call).I show real people, real voices—not just polished marketing speak.

Late enrolments aren't the reason for a slow election vote count. That's according to constitutional lawyer Graeme Edgeler, who agrees with comments from the Electoral Commission that changes to voting rules won't speed up the process. The government's ending same-day enrolments and requiring people to enrol 13 days before polling day. But Edgeler told Ryan Bridge that it won't solve the delay. He says checks for people on the unpublished roll or voting out of their electorates also delay the process. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A belief changes to electoral day enrolments addresses slow administrative process and voter slackness. The Government's looking to ban prisoner votes, stop free food and entertainment at voting stations, and enforce a 13-day pre-election enrolment rule to vote. Otago University Electoral Law Expert Andrew Geddis told Mike Hosking same day enrolments require people to cast 'special votes', which take longer to process. He says the number of special votes has been increasing markedly over recent elections, so it's taking longer to get a result. Geddis denies the changes are deliberately aimed at negatively impacting the left. He says that special votes always result in more seats for the left, but whether or not that's a driving motivation behind the change is debatable. Kat John is REAL, RAW, RELATABLE

Recently, I found myself journaling about the phrase "all in good time." As I was writing, I noticed how much my ego wanted to rush, push, and brute force my way through the process. There was this constant sense of urgency and impatience, a nagging feeling that if I didn't hurry, everything would fall apart. Beneath this impatience, I recognized a deeper, more profound fear of failure, especially with the launch of my book. The pressure I was putting on myself was immense. I felt like I had to get everything right, and get it right quickly. My mind was racing with thoughts of deadlines, expectations, and the endless to-do lists that seemed to grow longer by the minute. In the midst of this chaos, the simple phrase "all in good time" emerged. It was like a gentle reminder from a wiser, calmer part of myself to slow down and trust the process. These four words—"all in good time"—became a mantra that helped ease the angst and stress I was feeling. Every time I felt the urge to rush or push too hard, I would remind myself of this phrase. It acted as an anchor, keeping me grounded and bringing me back to the present moment. I realized that success doesn't come from forcing things to happen, but from allowing them to unfold naturally and organically.By embracing "all in good time," I've been able to release some of the pressure and find a more balanced, peaceful approach to my work. It's a reminder that everything has its own pace, and that forcing things often leads to burnout and frustration. This mindset has kept me close to the ground, more connected to my purpose, and less caught up in the whirlwind of my ego's demands. It's a lesson I'm grateful for, and one that I hope to carry with me as I continue on this journey.Pre-order my book - Australia and New Zealand pre-order! The funder for tertiary education is willing to subsidise more trainees in scaffolding and piano tuning, but doesn't want any increase in primary teaching enrolments. The Commission has released the list of courses where it wants to increase enrolments and those where it wants to see a drop. Our wedding was 100% us. There was nothing about it that catered to who we thought we had to be, what vows we thought we had to write, who we thought we had to invite, what food and drinks we thought we should get, what we thought we had to wear, what photos we thought we should get and all the rest. Everything about it was us, which is why it was so damn magical. The brief was - we want this to be an extension of us. Fun, casual, relaxed and epic vibes. And the day delivered it in spades. The amount of times we heard, "this wedding is so you guys", "your wedding is so real and authentic from the ceremony, vows, speeches, the lot", "this day is how all weddings ought to be", was endless. And we felt it too. Today we share about our day, our highlights, why it was a blessing to wait to get married now instead of 2020 and how important it is to stay true to your real and genuine self when it comes to big days like these. Why She Left Love Off Her Intention Setting

This is a ripper story. My beautiful client and now friend, KG, left love off her intention setting because she thought it'd never happen. She didn't want to feel the pain of it never coming true if she had it on her vision board, so, she left it off to not feel or address the wounds that were sitting underneath it all. When I said to her, "is love and a relationship important to you?", she said, "Kat fucking John, GO AWAY!" And so, we went to work on what stories were in her head, what situations took place when she was younger and what she made that mean about her and love. You'll love this epic episode with a very happy ending. But kudos to KG, she put in the hard yards and the "why the fuck am I doing this' work to call in real love. Join The ZEROFKS Program!
