I want to bring you the best content I can create and right now I need a little time to make it great. I also want to know if you prefer that Creative Playdate have it's own social media accounts or if keeping everything through my own personal, illustration accounts works for you. If you have an opinion on that or on anything else you'd like to see me do with the show, please get in touch any way you like! On to the episode! Today's interview is with the wonderful illustrator and author, Andrea Pippins. She is passionate about empowering young girls and also about helping us all create our own communities for support and inspiration. She even wrote a book about it, called We Inspire Me. This week Vickie spoke with Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Educator, Andrea Pippins. At the time of this recording we are a little over 4 weeks away from the inauguration of an almost infamous, new President. For ultimate better or worse, to say that our American society is experiencing a period of unrest is probably an understatement. Vickie and Andrea took this meeting as an opportunity to have a very candid conversation about race, education, gender, and the power of creativity during times of personal -- or global -- insecurity. Andrea Pippins claims many titles -- educator, designer, author -- but above all, she's an artist first. Andrea just finished her latest book Becoming Me, so this interview came right on time! We began by talking about Andrea's journey as an author from her first book I ♥ My Hair to today. Andrea also shared what first got her involved in design, spoke about her time at art school at Temple University, touched on her work as a design educator (including her current position at MICA), and a whole lot more. This is an interview you'll definitely want to listen to again and again! Andrea Pippins on Instagram Andrea Pippins on Twitter Andrea Pippins' Website Fly
