This week, Dudley continues his conversation with Chad Prather as they unpack how Chad's public voice moved from rapid-fire humor into sharper political commentary, and they wrestle honestly with cancel culture and what it means for free speech in today's public square. Chad Prather reflects on learning to balance quick wit with responsibility, how to speak boldly without becoming defensive, and the costs and consequences of saying what you believe in a divided media environment. The conversation returns again and again to gospel-centered discipleship, showing how christianity calls us to combine truth-telling with humility, and how grace reshapes our expectations for leaders who fail. Official reports have been declaring systemic racism in North America's education system for more than 30 years. What will it take to change?Even before COVID-19, education experts were sounding the alarm about the future of racialized children in our schools. And the COVID-19 pandemic has only underscored — even deepened — the divide. On this episode of Don't Call me Resilient, we speak with Kulsoom Anwer, a high school teacher who joined us from her classroom in one of Toronto's most marginalized neighbourhoods. With her is Carl James, professor of education at York University. Together we discuss the injustices and inequalities in the education system and, in the conversation, we also explore some possible ways forward.Every week, we highlight articles that drill down into the topics we discuss in the episode. This week, both articles say that combating racism in schools is not only possible, but also that solutions are in the hands of educators. To make change, teachers must not only question existing power dynamics, but they must also acknowledge and validate the racism that is experienced by Black, Indigenous and racialized youth. For more information and resources, go here: SHOW NOTES A full transcript of the episode can be found here: TRANSCRIPT

Over the weekend, on Cannabis Celebration Day 4/20, at exactly 4:20 p.m., President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris voiced their strong support for changing marijuana laws and highlighted the issue of people being jailed for possessing marijuana, which is no longer illegal in many states, emphasizing it's time for change. Biden took to social media to express that current laws have unfairly ruined lives and pushed for state governors to pardon those with past minor marijuana offenses. He stated clearly that no one should be jailed for just having marijuana. The day before, the White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, stressed that the president has consistently supported not punishing people for just marijuana use or possession. She mentioned the administration is waiting for the Justice Department to finish reviewing how marijuana is classified under federal law, which could potentially change how it's regulated.
