Everyone loves a good story about second-chances, and that's exactly what Bill Abernathy's story is all about. The Kansas City, Missouri resident began writing songs in his early teens. He played all through his school years, but then he stopped...Life took over. Bill went about getting married, building a business career, and raising his children. Randy Seedorff is our guest on this episode. Randy has been writing and performing for over 30 years, with his interest in music starting at the young age of 11 when his mother gave him his first guitar. But it was during his teens that he met singer, songwriter, guitarist and good friend Bill Abernathy. They frequently appeared at local venues in the Kansas City Area playing Americana and folk covers as well as co-written original tunes. That friendship and collaboration continues today. Randy founded the group Soul Purpose in 2010. They released their studio album Rearview Mirror, produced by Larry Gann and Matt Russo, of Awestruck Studios, in 2014. Randy released his 7 track EP, Elevate, in 2017. The first two releases from that project reached number 1 on Christian Radio Charts. Their new EP, Begin Again, is scheduled for release in Jan 2021.Randy serves as pastor of worship and discipleship at Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Independence, MO. Bill Abernathy-  Bill Abernathy: Everyone loves a good story about second-chances, and that’s exactly what Bill Abernathy’s story is all about.  The Kansas City, Missouri resident began writing songs in his early teens. He played all through his school years, but then he stopped...Life took over. Bill went about getting married, building a business career, and raising his children. After his kids graduated from school and started their careers, Bill picked up the guitar again and began trying to rekindle his love of music. “Inspiration for my music comes from a variety of the many parts of my life,” Bill says.  “Events and experiences of mine, my family, my friends, and sometimes even people I have never met all, contribute to the creativity of my music. I find it interesting and rewarding to let my imagination wander through the memory and spirit of life events and see where it takes me.” Bill is a pure "lyrics-first" writer...a bit of a storyteller. “I feel the story and lyrics talk to me and tell me what the rest of the song is supposed to sound like,” he says.  His last album, 2017’s “Find A Way” reached #5 on the Roots Music Report Traditional Folk Album chart, and the single, “Goodbye Will Never Come Again” reached #1 on the singles chart. Bill’s latest collection of songs, the Roots Music Report Americana chart-topping album, “Crossing Willow Creek” is available now. The first single, “Cry Wolf” reached the iTunes Top 100 Rock Songs chart, while hitting the Top 5 on New Music Weekly’s country chart. The next two singles also received national and international charting.  Bill is also a December 2018 Billboard Magazine Emerging Artist. Kate is a director/screen writer who came to America to fulfill her dream of telling stories through film. Her daughter Kayla stars in her movies and has credits outside of her mother's work. Kate wrote and directed a new movie called "Kayla" written for her daughter to star in, which she did. This is a touching movie you won't want to miss.

Six of the seven candidates running for the Hughes County Commission participated in a forum hosted by the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce May 24, 2018. The one incumbent seeking reelection, Bill Abernathy, wasn’t able to attend because of a prior commitment. Listen to the candidates share information about themselves and answer questions on a variety of topics. Hughes County voters can select up to three of the candidates to vote for on the June 5 ballot.
