The first NFL practices are done for the newest members of the New Orleans Saints, but how significant were they? Do we like what we hear from quarterback Spencer Rattler and cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry? Do we make anything of Taliese Fuaga practicing at left tackle? We hear from Rattler, McKinstry and new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak on Monday's Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 238) brought to you by Evangeline Securities, as host Jim Derry shares his thoughts on the weekend. Also, former LSU slugger Cade Beloso joins the show to talk about what the Tigers need to do on the diamond in the near future to make this season a success. Lastly, on the 'Extra Point,' Jim goes back 22 years ago to the date Mickey Loomis was promoted to Saints general manager, which Jim says very well could be the most significant move in the history of this franchise.

Of course we can't get enough of LSU winning their 7th national baseball championship! And to talk about it with former Tigers coach Paul Mainieri, who recruited and coached several of the winning players, including Dylan Crews, Cade Beloso, Tre Morgan and Gavin Dugas. TIGERS WIN. LSU Baseball claims its seventh national title. Head coach Jay Johnson, pitcher Thatcher Hurd, designated hitter Cade Beloso, centerfielder Dylan Crews, and shortstop Jordan Thompson recap the Tigers' 18-4 win over Florida in Game 3 of the College World Series, as the Tigers claim yet another national championship. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/heyfightinpodcast/message
College World Series 2023 results: LSU demolishes Florida to claim seventh national championship by Edward Sutelan The Tigers bounced back from a College World Series rout in Game 2 to post a rout of its own, throttling Florida for an MCWS-record 24 hits en route to a dominant 18-4 victory to claim the seventh national championship in program history. The title breaks a tie with Texas for the second-most College World Series championships for a program. It was all Tigers from there. LSU racked up six runs in the second inning without tallying anything more than a single, peppering a Florida defense with five singles and capitalizing on three walks and a hit batsman from a wild Caglianone. Two innings later, the Tiger offense was back at it, with Josh Pearson roping a two-run homer to right following a Jordan Thompson RBI single. Cade Beloso added to his impressive series with an RBI single of his own to make it a four-run inning. CWS Rocco's Jell-O Shot Competition 64,808 total shots were purchased for the Tigers. The next closest team was TCU w/ 8,040. ALL proceeds go to a charity of the teams choosing.
The LSU Tigers baseball team is one win away from being College World Series champions. Let that sink in... LSU punched their ticket to the College World Series final after defeating number one overall seed Wake Forest in two consecutive games, featuring one instant classic which featured the two best pitchers in college baseball and a walk-off two run bomb from Tommy White in extras. In Game 1 against the Gators, LSU pitcher Ty Floyd recorded the most strikeouts ever in a College World Series game striking out 17 Gators while giving up three runs on five hits. Cade Beloso's home plate heroics helped the Tigers yet again after his home run in the top of the 11th inning sealed the deal for the purple and gold. A brutal 20-run loss didn't help LSU's case but overall throughout the postseason it seems like there is a little bit of magic and a whole lot of clutch performances that have been on LSU's side. There is no better way to capitalize on those performances with a win Monday night against Florida to bring home the program's seventh national title. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The NCAA Independent Resolution Panel has finally announced their ruling for the LSU men's basketball and football programs after an investigation into the athletic department revealed several NCAA violations including recruiting violations, allocation of impermissible funds, and lack of institutional control including violations from former men's basketball coach Will Wade and former football coach Ed Orgeron. The ruling seems to be fairly favorable toward LSU: three year backdated probation that ends in September 2023, one fewer basketball scholarship in each the 2024 and 2025 seasons, and vacated football wins between the 2012-2015 seasons. The punishment from the NCAA was lessened by a self-imposed bowl ban, firing Will Wade, and the vacated wins. Overall, it does not seem to impact either the men's basketball program or football program too heavily into the future.Plus, LSU baseball has made it to the final game on their side of the bracket thanks to a gutsy and clutch performance from pitcher Nate Ackenhausen to send the Tennessee Vols packing and a huge three-run bomb from Cade Beloso against Wake Forest to force a second game against the Demon Deacons. Following a 5-2 win Wednesday night over Wake Forest, the LSU Tigers are now one win away from the championship round and a best-of-3 with the Florida Gators for college baseball's national crown. Presumably with Paul Skenes on the hill, should LSU be favored? And what about Cade Beloso's 3-run bomb that gave the Tigers the push they needed? Jeff Duncan joins Jim Derry for a Thursday edition of the Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 155), as we make our predictions and sprinkle in some Saints talk 1 month before training camp.

The LSU baseball Tigers are two wins away from punching their ticket to Omaha for the College World Series, and we're ready for a special episode of the live Dattidude podcast (Ep. 152). LSU designated hitter Cade Beloso joins Jim Derry to preview this weekend's super regional against the Kentucky Wildcats, as well as a look through the slugger's journey from John Curtis to Baton Rouge and what might be next for him.
The LSU Tigers are headed to Super Regionals! After taking down the Tulane Green Wave on Friday night with a phenomenal complete game by ace Paul Skenes, LSU took down Oregon State in back-to-back matchups on Sunday night and Monday afternoon. The Tigers' bats were phenomenal and the pitching was solid enough to keep them out of the losers bracket and advance to the next round of postseason play. In the Tigers first matchup with Oregon State and the second game of the weekend, LSU wasn't getting much moving offensively. A storm halted play after the third inning but once the rain cleared, LSU came alive. Five home runs on Sunday evening matched with nineteen strikeouts from the three pitchers who saw action Sunday, starter Ty Floyd, Thatcher Hurd who was on the mound after the rain delay, and Gavin Guidry as the closer, tallied nineteen strikeouts matching their season high total. Power hitter Dylan Crews said “The bats were a little quiet. We were able to go in and reset our lineup and I think it was a turning point to get the team going and the crowd going.” And the bats didn't quiet down on Monday. Four different players knocked one out of Alex Box, including back-to-back homers from Hayden Travinski and Cade Beloso for the second day in a row. When LSU needed offense, hitters from the top to the bottom of the lineup delivered throughout the entirety of the Baton Rouge regional. LSU will host the Kentucky Wildcats who defeated the Indiana Hoosiers in the Lexington regional. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! We sit down with LSU Baseball's Cade Beloso and ask if he is officially back, his LSU Football predictions, and boom box duty for next year.
CBS Sports' Barrett Sallee made his bold predictions for each SEC team in the 2022 season. All but two SEC teams were offensively motivated – Will Spencer Rattler be a Heisman finalist? Will Ole Miss lead the nation in offense this season? Even the teams with questions at quarterback, like LSU, had predictions related to the offense. In today's episode of Locked On LSU Caroline explains why Barrett Sallee's prediction for the Tigers defensive line isn't just accurate but also should be encouraging for LSU Tigers fans. Plus, former LSU Tiger and current Alabama DB Eli Ricks was arrested this past weekend. Although he no longer wears the purple and gold, it should still be a relevant topic for LSU fans and Caroline explains why. Finally, LSU baseball welcomes Nicholls State to the Box tonight in a midweek matchup. With Drew Bianco and Cade Beloso recovering from injury and Gavin Dugas, Alex Milazzo, and Javen Coleman all dealing with bumps and bruises of their own, how can tonight's game set the Tigers up for success for their SEC West matchup against Alabama this weekend?
