How can you prevent something that may be seemingly inconsequential or something "I should be able to manage" from becoming the straw that breaks the camel's back? Here are seven ways to prevent that from happening. We’re all handling isolation, quarantine, job loss, financial troubles, boredom, loneliness, grief, fear – a new brand of anxiety that’s literally about taking your next breath. So today, in this episode sponsored by BetterHelp, I'll focus once again on "what you can do about it." Here are the seven preventative tips:' Practice self-compassion Recognize the cumulative impact of stress and ambiguity Stop comparing yourself to others Practice mindfulness and awareness of the present moment Know and honor your triggers Remain humble rather than prideful Go for help if you develop clinical depression, flashbacks or severe anxiety The listener email today is from a woman who listened to the podcast on sibling sexual abuse in early February. I simply wanted to comment further on her response to that post – as I didn’t mention something very important. That’s why I love feedback from all of you. It keeps me on my toes. Important links: Flattened By A Tire by Terry Cheney BetterHelp, the #1 online therapy provider, has a special offer for you now! You can hear more about mental health and many other topics by listening to my podcast, SelfWork with Dr. Margaret Rutherford. Subscribe to my website and receive one weekly newsletter including my weekly blog post and podcast! If you’d like to join my FaceBook closed group, then click here and answer the membership questions! Welcome! My book entitled Perfectly Hidden Depression has arrived and you can order here! Its message is specifically for those with a struggle with strong perfectionism or need for control which acts to mask underlying emotional pain. But the many self-help techniques described can be used by everyone who chooses to begin to address emotions, long hidden away, that are clouding and sabotaging your current life. And there’s a new way to send me a message! You can record by clicking below and ask your question or make a comment. You’ll have 90 seconds to do so and that time goes quickly. By recording, you’re giving SelfWork (and me) permission to use your voice on the podcast. I’ll look forward to hearing from you!

RATE AND REVIEW this podcast on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/PeterSchiff/reviews/ The Eye of the Financial Hurricane U.S. stock markets continue to bask in the eye of this financial hurricane.  Remember, we ended the hurricane following the September rate hike, and if you recall I titled my podcast, "The Hike that Broke the Camel's Back", and that's what really began the sell-off in the market. We had this horrific fourth quarter, the worst December since 1931.  It may have ended up being the worst December ever had it not been saved by that last-minute Santa Claus rally - the biggest Boxing Day (Day after Christmas) rally ever, which followed the worst Christmas Eve in stock market history. The Fed's New Dovish Outlook But we entered the eye when the Federal Reserve came out and rescued the markets by backtracking on their previously indicated path of continued rate hikes and quantitative tightening.  In fact, we had a lot of people come out this week from the Federal Reserve today, again, reiterating their new dovish outlook. Everybody is a dove. There are no more stock market hawks.  Like there are no atheists in a foxhole - in a bear market there are not hawks, there are only doves.  That included people who are no longer on the Federal Reserve. Fmr. Federal Reserve Chairperson Janet Yellen came out yesterday, and she said that she thinks it is very possible that the December rate hike is the last rate hike in the cycle. She's right about that.  It's not just very possible, it's probable. Yesterday we had Fed Vice Chair Richard Clarida said that the Fed is going to raise rates fewer times than they had indicated in their most recent press conference.  Of course, by then, they had indicated two rate hikes. Now he is saying they are going to raise rates fewer than two, which could be one, but it could also be zero.

Most dis-eases don't happen overnight and they can't be attributed to one cause.  Most develop over years and involve a number of issues, many of which you may have never considered. For example, your dental fillings could be leaking mercury into your bloodstream that can build up in your tissues and cause your immune system to start attacking your body (autoimmune disease).  Today I am going to talk about all of the things to look out for and how all of these small seemingly insignificant factors can add up to over stress the body and cause it to fall out of balance.  This episode can be an absolute game changer for many people and I highly recommend checking it out.  To schedule a consultation with me click here. In this episode of Bibliophiles Anonymous, Denise and Jess talk about a serious topic. Inspired by the reactions of fans to Allegiant, the final book in Veronica Roth's Divergent trilogy, we talk about the relationship between readers, books, and the authors we supposedly love. Veronica Roth has received multiple threats from fans who are upset about the ending of this trilogy. Charlaine Harris had a fan who received her book, Dead Ever After, early and posted spoilers all over the Internet in order to ruin the book for other people. The most extreme case we discuss is the reaction of all the craziness that surrounded Mercedes Lackey's Diana Tregarde series. The bottom line, folks. Be nice to people. Don't act like an idiot. Here are the links we promised: Veronica Roth's response to reader reactions to Allegiant (spoilers ahoy): http://veronicarothbooks.blogspot.com/2013/10/about-end-of-allegiant-spoilers.html Bibliofiend's article about the Veronica Roth situation (spoiler free): http://bibliofiend.com/2013/10/24/veronica-roth-briefly-responds-to-allegiant-backlash-other-authors-come-to-defense/ Tynga's article on Charlaine Harris: http://www.tyngasreviews.com/2013/05/soapboxing-readers-rights.html Mercedes Lackey's article "The Last Straw": http://ftp.pwp.att.net/m/e/megant3/abml/laststraw.html Mercedes Lackey's article "The Camel's Back": http://www.mercedeslackey.com/features_camelsback.html Remember, there will be no episode next week. Commuting into New York City, doesn’t make Joe’s depression any better, neither does getting fired from his job. Which brings us to Joe’s real issue of the week, getting cut from his gig at City Steam in Hartford, CT. After a few nights of fighting off a drunk bachelorette party, guidos and a few hecklers, Joe thought he was on top of his game, screaming at the audience making some great material until his mic got shut off. Thats when things got serious and now Joe needs your help. Joe doesn’t know why he is being punished for having evil hecklers, that he could successfully fend off. Calling in to lend some advice were Gary Goldman and Bill Burr. It turns out they have a lot of heckler experience. Some lessons learned were that it can be best to spit in the face of evil, bachelorette parties will play victim, some audience members are helpful and some are just always going to be miserable. The question still stands though who was wrong Joe or the club?

Then we attempt to comprehend the film we just saw. Which leads to random thoughts that include… "Colossally bad, that's the only way to describe this." “They have a Sheriff and a deputy, a redneck, drunk deputy - and a midget” “Who the hell did they make this movie for?” “The final blow is a titty twister.” “This is the pinnacle.” “Even the movie was tired of itself.” “This is epic bad!” “There’s a lot of street fist-fights going on, like this is some sort of Clint Eastwood orangutan picture” “Lance did a bunch of jumping around” “I’m surprised half the actors in here didn’t break something” “This is like a monster mash of bad movie actors” “This was pretty fun!” “There’s a lot of weird not-so-underlying homo-eroticism” “I think they were making it up as they went along…” “Nothing they do makes one lick of sense” “People, you are missing out!” “As far as bad, bad movies go, it’s pretty awesome!” “I don’t even want to talk about it.” Regardless of what the rest of the gang thinks, Bryan's final take on the movie… "Savage Dawn is awesome. A drive-in classic unlike anything I've seen in years." Join us for this memorable review.
