Jules and Phoebe discuss the latest shows that have caught their attention, including "WandaVision" and the documentary "Capital in the Twenty-First Century". They give their take on Candice Brathwaite, Rochelle Humes and the TV documentary focusing on the maternal health of black women in UK; They also explore Michaela Cole's drama series, "I May Destroy You", being snubbed at the Golden Globes, and the need for diversity in media. Follow @JulesPhoebe on Instagram and share the podcast with a friend. **CORRECTION** In this podcast, Phoebe incorrectly names Clemmie Telford as the woman behind the infamous @mother_of_daughters account when referencing the online harassment of Candice Brathwaite. Clemmie Hooper is actually who she intended to mention, but COVID-brain obviously got the better of her. Sincere apologies to Telford for the momentary brain-blip.
Candice Brathwaite is our first guest on this new series of Grazia Life Advice. Candice is a self-described ‘mummy blogger’ and influencer, who says she first took to Instagram to show young Black families weren’t just surviving, but thriving. To that end, she launched her online initiative, Make Motherhood Diverse, works with loads of high-profile brands, and has amassed more than 180,000 followers on Instagram. Her success recently hit new heights when her book, I Am Not Your Baby Mother – the first to address parenting from a Black British perspective – became a Sunday Times Bestseller. In this inspiring chat, she tells us why money matters, the importance of the men in her life and talks about the aftermath of being trolled by Clemmie Hooper, aka Mother Of Daughters.
It's podclash time! Maybe not all the ones that Kate would want - but we delve into the many types of twins, how you can tell if they're identical (spoiler - it's your ears!) and the strangest things she's seen on duty. You can hear Clemmie's podcast Birth Stories here: https://play.acast.com/s/birthstoriesIf you're enjoying the podcast, don't forget to subscribe and if you're on iTunes, please do leave us a review to let us know if you're enjoying the show. For enquiries or if you want to get in touch, send us an email to maybebabycast@gmail.com.You can also find us on Instagram with more behind the scenes info and episode news - @thekatelawler & @thenotoriousboj.Maybe Baby is a PODMASTERS production. Would you ever date a friend's ex? How do you tell your best friend that she's wrong? Are you your friend's biggest cheerleaders? On this week's episode, Leanne, Liv and Shan discuss the unwritten rules of girl code, what girl code actually means to them and whether there are any times where it is acceptable to cross the line. In this week's Dope Black chat, the ladies discuss the recent controversy in the Mummy Blogger community between Clemmie Hooper, Kelechi and Candice Brathwaithe. It came out the other week that Clemmie had been trolling fellow Mummy bloggers and leaving racist abuse on Candice's page. As a result of Kelechi calling this out, her Instagram account was taken down. To deal with bullies Clemmie became a bully and silenced black women in the process. Together the women discuss this issue, what consequences they think Clemmie should face and what more platforms like Instagram should be doing instead of silencing black voices. The Dope Black Women Podcast is all about bringing black women together to discuss the topics that matter to us, connect and support with each other and through our digital sisterhood. Your hosts are: Leanne Levers, Roshan Roberts and Olivia Cope. You can follow Dope Black Women online at @DopeBlackWomen1 on Instagram, @DopeBlackWomen on Twitter and Dope Black Women on Facebook

This week, we're back in the studio to discuss all things political. Now that the UK is gearing up to a General Election, we've got voting on the mind.Mark Zuckerberg recently said that Facebook wouldn't be rejecting political adverts that were deemed to contain false information, with Twitter deciding to ban political adverts altogether. However, during the Leaders' Debate for the UK General Election, the Conservative Party press Twitter account (@CCHQ) rebranded itself - aiming to discredit Labour by pretending to be a fact-checking account. We discuss the role of social media platforms in political campaigns. With midwife Clemmie Hooper being unmasked as a troll who attacked other "mum-fluencers" on Instagram, what do the banning of Kelechi Okafor (@kelechnekoff) from the platform and the the erasure of the racist elements of the story when reported the mainstream press tell us about online disinformation tactics ?Plus - we find out why online voting isn't available in the UK yet, chat the psychology of voting, and discuss how electronic voting could change politics. You can find Kelechi's podcast "Say Your Mind" on Twitter (@SayYourMindPod) and on all podcast apps.Follow us on social media and send us your questions!Follow us on twitter/instagram: @whynotadocEmail: whynotadoc@gmail.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Painfully contrived or a stroke of genius? We chat about THAT Boris Johnson campaign video and naughty Brewdog's 'Sober as a Motherfu' campaign. Then, we ask if Clemmie Hooper's influencer trolling has caused irreparable damage to the Mother of Daughters brand, and celebrate as the Financial Times finally appoints its first female editor.
When you begin to understand what labour truly feels like; what it really takes from both a physical and emotional perspective; then you'll stop asking the question 'what does a doula do?'In this episode I chat with Doula, Active Birth Yoga Teacher, Author, Mother & all round inspiring lady, Natalie Meddings about the role of a doula. What started as an episode about doulas, quickly morphed into one of the most inspiring and informative conversations I've ever had about birth. Bringing you a deeper understanding of what labour truly means. If you are currently pregnant, you absolute MUST listen to the very wise words Natalie shares with us in this week's episode. Thinking about labour and birth in a whole new light, this is info you definitely don't get from a standard antenatal class! I have no doubt this episode will leave you feeling confident, inspired and excited about giving birth!http://www.tellmeagoodbirthstory.com/Books:How to Have a BabyWhy Homebirth MattersBoth by Natalie MeddingsSupport the show (https://birth-ed.co.uk/birth-ed-online-hypnobirthing-course)
After experiencing physical changes during and after pregnancy, women also need to align themselves with a new identity - that of a mother. As well as dealing with breastfeeding, the tired skin of new parenthood and a lack of time to spend on themselves, there’s an immense pressure new mothers often face to be a “supermum.” Is there a secret minimal make-up routine for new parents? Should they ditch the make-up altogether? Can any product out there hide the fact that new parents face approximately 6 years worth of sleep deprivation? Sali is joined by midwife, mother of four and parenting blogger Clemmie Hooper (aka @motherofdaughters) to talk about their experiences of new motherhood and they both take your questions in the surgery. Clemmie Hooper is a midwife and mother of four daughters who is best known for her instagram account @mother_of_daughters. Clemmie’s account is not just pretty, but challenging and thought-provoking as well (not unlike Clemmie herself!).I visited Clemmie’s stunning home on a chilly November day and was thrilled when she told me she was making me a warming chicken and chorizo stew. When we grow up we want to be Clemmie Hooper! A working midwife at King’s College Hospital, Clemmie is mother to four beautiful daughters and recently took the plunge to move the whole family from South London to the Seaside town of Ramsgate! Starting her blog ‘Gas & Air’ whilst on maternity leave, Clemmie has developed a fiercely loyal following thanks to her honesty, empathy and experience. Married to Simon (@father_of_daughters) we caught up with Clemmie in her gorgeous home (that was once a doctors surgery) and are all ears as we talk pregnancy, childbirth, maintaining a career and young family all whilst living life online. ‘Inspirational’ doesn’t even begin to cover it….You can listen along, and see photos of the items we talk about in this episode, on Acast. We speak to Clemmie Hooper - aka the midwife and influencer Mother of Daughters, who recently suspended her Instagram account after the trolling got too much - about why men and women are not equal in the eyes of social media. Why doesn't her husband, Simon (aka Father of Daughters), who exists in exactly the same family and has twice the amount of followers, get nearly so much abuse? We talk misogyny and mothering; why women aren't allowed to be financially successful in the same way men are; and why the best thing to do is to just rise above. Also today, we make Producer Charlie's week, and discuss The World Cup - High Low style. For anyone experiencing domestic abuse or if you know of someone who is and want to help them, please call The National Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 2000 247. When you’re pregnant, you hear plenty of old wives’ tales from friends and neighbors. Carrying high? It’s a girl! Dry skin? It’s a boy! Got mad heartburn? Expect your newborn baby to have a full head of hair. Devouring an ice cream cone a day? Baby must need her calcium. You’ll also realize that when you Google any pregnancy symptom, you will get sucked into a terror-inducing internet-baby-forum spiral. Avoid! Take comfort in the fact that many generations of women before us birthed child after child, all with little to no expertise from those helping out. Today, thankfully, we’ve got a bit more knowledge of how to create life and bring Baby safely into this world. The post Clemmie Hooper: Preparing for Motherhood; Best Tips for Moms-to-be appeared first on On The Dot Woman.
Following the success of 2017’s 'How to Grow a Baby and Push it Out: Your No Nonsense Guide To Pregnancy and Birth', 2018 marks the release of Clemmie’s second book, the How to Grow a Baby Journal, filled with reassuring tips to help parents delve into their feelings and experiences. This episode invites you to listen as Clemmie Hooper talks to Julie Anne Dorff.
My guest today is Clemmie Hooper Otherwise known as Mother of Daughters, Clemmie is the brains behind the extremely popular blog Gas and Air. She is a trained NHS midwife and her first book, “How to grow a baby and push it out” was unbelievably successful with 3 reprints before it was even published. With it Clemmie has helped thousands of women around the world. She has just released her 2nd book – A journal of how to grow a baby. She is the mother of 4 daughters and she’s paving the way and flying the flag for a more honest approach to how parenthood is portrayed online. I do a lot of cooking for new and expectant parents and my weeks are filled with filling their fridges and freezers with delicious things so that they don’t have to think about cooking. As time is in short supply! So I was really excited to speak to this weeks guests about how she juggles being the mother of four with a busy career and lots of exciting things going on work wise and at home. I love speaking to people from the world of food but I also love speaking to interesting and inspiring people who are out there doing amazing things and finding out about the food that has shaped their lives and how they got to where they are. Desert island dish: Really amazing breakfast. Bacon, chorizo, avocado, grilled tomatoes, Portobello mushrooms cooked in garlic butter, white toasted sourdough. With Tabasco. Pot of tea. I'm so excited to have Clemmie Hooper as the guest on this episode of Not Another Mummy Podcast. The midwife-turned-author of How To Grow A Baby And Push It Out really knows her stuff when it comes to pregnancy and birth. Clemmie came over to my place and we chatted about all of her births and how different they were (including why her twin birth was the best out of all of them), hypnobirthing and some GREAT tips on what to pack in your hospital bag. Clemmie also spoke about how, along with husband Simon, they created a two week cocoon with their new babies (no visitors allowed) and shared tips on how to do this yourself. We also chatted about her Insta-fame (340k+ followers on Instagram and counting...) even though it makes Clemmie cringe. Hope you enjoy this episode! Our guest for this ep is midwife, author, and instagram sensation Clemmie Hooper, otherwise known as Mother of Daughters! She tells us how she managed to write her book, How to Grow a Baby and Push it Out, while looking after twin babies. We find out what it's like to have four small children, and what it is Clemmie has finally forgiven Keira Knightley for. There's some chat about how Clemmie became the social media star she is today, and Helen's pleather trousers. We play a new game, and there's even a new theme song. This episode was fuelled by wine from the wonderful Kevin O'Rourke, otherwise known as the wineman. He sends out lovely booze direct to your door - find out more at wineman.co.uk. **ADULTS ONLY!** This episode features swears! Including the worst one! How is childbirth different the second time around? What's the best way to introduce your older child to the new baby? Why would anyone knit stuff out of a placenta? We answer all these questions and more as we're joined by Clemmie Hooper, midwife, mum and blogger. She gives us some great tips for labour and beyond and manages to be very non-judgemental about the placenta knitting thing. Unlike Ellie, of course, who is nearly physically sick. Meanwhile, Helen presents her brand new game - Hooray for Fannywood. It's as sophisticated and highbrow as it sounds. Two things to note: 1. This episode is RUDE, with lots of unbleeped swears. Including the c-word. So maybe don't listen to it in the car on the school run... 2. This episode was recorded before Ellie gave birth to her lovely new baby, Joe. As you'll know if you listened to the last podcast, he was two months early. He is doing great and will hopefully be home soon! Clemmie's blog is called Gas and Air - do check out Helen's birth story. She is on Twitter too, @midwifeyhooper. We're @scummymummies and you can find us on Facebook. You can email scummymummiespodcast@gmail.com or leave a message via scummymummies.com. We love receiving iTunes reviews! If you like the podcast, please tell your friends. This episode's special guest is Clemmie Hooper, midwife, mum and author of the hit blog, Gas and Air. Her recent post on 'The Truth About Maternity Leave' went viral, so we chat about that and get some top tips for birth and beyond. Helen and Ellie share some of their own labour experiences - tune in to find out why one of them will never again be able to enjoy the music of Bon Jovi. Plus there's advice for dads and we play our brand new game, A Stitch In Time. Let's just say it involves pink felt. As always, we round off with Scummy Mummy Confessions - please keep sending yours in to scummymummiespodcast@gmail.com. We hope you enjoy the episode!
