Ryan Middagh is not only a composer, arranger, baritone saxophonist and educator, as Chair of the Department of Jazz and Global Music at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, he has delivered all that, and more, in his latest release called “Tenor Madness.” This album is a love letter to both the saxophone itself, and the abundance of saxophonists found in the vibrant and growing Nashville music scene.  To bring the music to this release, Ryan gathered together an amazing group of his talented friends and saxophone colleagues like Jeff Coffin, Joel Frahm, Don Aliquo, Jovan Quallo, Alex Graham, vocalist Jenna McLean, trombonists Jeremy Wilson, and special guest Roy Agee, as well as members the Ryan Middagh Jazz Orchestra.   Join me for a conversation about the development of this stunning album, “Tenor Madness,” and the man behind the music.  If you're  like me, a fan of big band music and have a keen interest in the sound of the saxophone as a stand-out instrument to deliver that dynamic genre of music, then you are in for a treat with this episode.

Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return behind the microphones for another episode of the Helium Boys Podcast, a serious non-serious USC football podcast. The Helium Boys are back to break down the changing Trojans roster following the December early signing period and the first two days of the NCAA transfer portal being open. The episode opens with the Helium Boys staple 'Two-Minute Drill' that features Chris having to rein Shotgun in after he goes on a wild tangent before the timer ever starts. Chris and Shotgun then dive into USC's roller coaster Signing Day that saw the Trojans sign Jahkeem Stewart and flip Alex Graham from Colorado, but lose a pair of linebackers with Jadon Perlotte flipping to Tennessee and Madden Faraimo signing with Notre Dame. The podcasters then dive into the first two days of entrants into the NCAA transfer portal from USC with 12 players entering their names. Chris and Shotgun break down the future impact of each of those entrants' departures. After a break, the podcast duo answer your mailbag questions discussing culture building in the transfer portal era and how they would attack the transfer portal if they were a current player. There are also questions about USC's general manager hire that has still not been made. The episode concludes with Chris quizzing Shotgun with some Take It or Leave Its about the Trojans and then having him do a blind ranking of Christmas cookies, which leads to some vehement arguments. Please review, rate and subscribe to the Peristyle Podcast on Apple Podcasts! Make sure you check out USCFootball.com for complete coverage of this USC Trojans football and basketball teams.  Check out The Peristyle Shop where you can order your Helium Boys merchandise to help support the podcasting duo. In Episode 33 of The Steak Lad Experience, I sat down with recently retired Australian swimmer, Alex Graham.  Having competed at the level elite for over 9 years, our conversation centered around his impressive track record which has seen him medal at the Olympic/Commonwealth Games as well the World/Pan Pacific championships.  We touched on how he dealt with the setbacks that have come his way, some of his best memories whilst competing at the highest level of swimming, what it was like to go to an Olympic Games, his future plans post retirement and much more. In addition, having only recently retired it was a privilege listening to him open up about some of the highs/lows throughout his incredible career.  Many listening to this will also know that Alex and I went to school together although it has been a very long time since we last connected, so to sit down with him over a long form discussion and enjoy some Steak was a real treat.  The Steak for this Podcast was supplied by the Char Char Char Butcher in Parkdale.  Socials  Alex Graham - Instagram The Steak Lad - YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok, & Facebook Watch This Episode on YouTube https://youtube/Graham Contact Email - darcy@thesteaklad.com Linktree - https://linktr.ee/thesteaklad

I was born in a town in Western Victoria called Warrnambool, but grew up on a dairy farm. The most significant thing for me about the beautiful coastal town of my birth, was a businessman by the name of Fletcher Jones. He went from selling clothes out of a bullock dray to employing 3600 people in Warrnambool. At one stage he gave his employees 51 percent of his business. His employees loved him for his kindness, generosity and business acumen. His cooperative venture became the equity distribution base for Spiritual-Busyness. I then took the McDonald's franchising model and married the two together, creating Spiritual-Busyness.

We head to the Houses of Parliament to speak to Jess Phillips, MP for Birmingham Yardley, about sex and relationships education in schools: why kids should learn about pleasure as well as pregnancy, how growing up in an open 'naked' household paved the way for her career in politics, and which member of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers she fantasised the most about when she was a teenager. In the episode, which is sponsored by the original reusable menstrual cup the Mooncup, we also discuss naming our boobs, why women shouldn't be afraid to ask for what they want in bed, and the secret to a happy relationship (clue: it concerns sharing the mental load..).To report a story of sexual harassment at work to Jess's 'Not the Job' campaign, click here.To find out more about our episode sponsor Mooncup, click here and use the code MooncupHotbed for 10% until 20/12/18To fill out our survey about the female orgasm, click hereAnd please follow us on Instagram @thehotbedcollective and Twitter @thehotbedEpisode produced by Alex Graham.
