    This week, Alex breaks down the Gangs Matrix. Launched in London by the Metropolitan Police in 2012, this database of suspected Gang members has come under fire recently for racial profiling. In a city where 40% of people are Black, Asian or Ethnic Minority, this database is more than three quarters black (78%) with people as young as 12 are being placed on it. Amnesty International call it a human rights violation and have called for an inquiry into the process.We talk about how racial bias can seep into technology, how public and private data can be used against the public and what the future might hold for something like the Gangs Matrix.In our discussion, we talk about recycling. Now that China is no longer taking much of the world's plastic waste, what happens to all of the things that we throw away? With images of the sea becoming polluted, is it time to ban single-use plastic?Oz interviews Dr Anna Ploszajski, a materials expert, who has an interesting take on waste culture and narrative behind the war on plastics.
