Tune in as Jameson Pfeifle (@sdfilmthoughts) teams up with Arthur for a review and recap of The Hunger, the 1983 erotic horror film that follows a vampire couple, the accelerated aging that has suddenly plagued one of the partners, and the human gerontologist who gets caught up in their alluring and dark world. The neo-noir layers that are given off by this movie's heavy atmosphere, playing around with traditional vampire tropes, and a questionable ending that had been jammed in by the studio comprise some of the subjects for this episode. Directed by Tony Scott, The Hunger stars Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, Susan Sarandon, Beth Ehlers, Cliff DeYoung, Dan Hedaya, Rufus Collins, Suzanne Bertish, Willem Dafoe, John Pankow, and James Aubrey. Time Warp Radio Presents:
In this episode Mark talks about one of his favourite films: the 1986 American science fiction adventure film "Flight of the Navigator" directed by Randal Kleiser. The film stars Joey Cramer as David Freeman, a 12-year-old boy from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who on the night of the Fourth of July, 1978, while walking through the woods near his house, falls down into a ravine and is knocked unconscious. After David wakes up, and he makes his way home, but to his shock and horror he discovers that his parents and his little brother no longer live in the house because eight years have passed and the year is now 1986 - even though to David he had only been gane for what seems like a couple of hours at the most. After being returned to his parents, David is approached by NASA after they make a connection between David and a crashed alien spacecraft that has been discovered, hoping that David maybe the key to finding out where the alien spacecraft came from and who is its pilot. David feels drawn to the spacecraft by a compelling voice in his mind, and eventually David finds his way inside the spacecraft - the same spacecraft that abducted him eight years before and who needs the vital navigational information within David's brain to return the other alien subjects that were abducted and taken back to the planet Phaelon for further study. However, NASA wishes to keep the alien spacecraft and David for further study for as long as possible - which leads David and the spacecraft's robotic commander, "Max", to make their escape from the NASA facility they are being held at so that David can help Max complete his mission, and also give David the opportunity to become "The Navigator" and potentially find a way to return himself to where and when he was abducted. The films also stars Veronica Cartwright as Helen Freeman, Cliff DeYoung as Bill Freeman, Sarah Jessica Parker as Carolyn McAdams, Jonathan Sanger as Dr. Carr, Matt Adler as Jeff Freeman, and Paul Reubens as the voice of Max. The music is by Alan Silvestri. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message

The Crazy Folks review F/X (1986), starring Bryan Brown, Brian Dennehy, Cliff DeYoung and Jerry Orbach. Directed by Robert Mandel. B-movie special effects guy gets hired by the Feds to stage the assassination of a mob informant but shenanigans ensue when things are not what they seem... go figure. We will also touch on how some actors today have taken the method way too far and Sir Lawrence Olivier's famous opinion about it.
The Crazy Folks review Flight Of The Navigator (1986), starring Joey Cramer, Paul Reubens, Veronica Cartwright, Cliff DeYoung and Sarah Jessica Parker. Directed by Randal Kleiser. Boy goes out and plays. Boy gets knocked unconscious and wakes up 8 years later. Boy is taken to NASA where they discover all kinds of crazy stuff in his brain that was put there by a UFO. Boy escapes from NASA with UFO and shenanigans ensue. We will also touch on the un-Godly production budget of Avengers: Endgame and why it ISN'T the highest-grossing movie of all-time nor the most profitable. We also do a rant on spoiled moviegoers unfairly comparing special effects of movies from 30-40 years ago to modern day CGI extravaganzas.
Robert Mandel's F/X (1986) -- also sometimes known as FX: Murder by Illusion -- is the story of Rollie Taylor (Bryan Brown), a movie special effects man who is hired by two government agents (Cliff DeYoung & Mason Adams) to stage the public assassination of a mob boss (Jerry Orbach) who's turned state's evidence. What better way to keep the mob off the tail than by “killing him”? But things don't turn out as easy as that.Jedidiah Ayres and Adam Schartoff join Mike to discuss F/X, its sequel, and the spin-off TV series. Hey Brothers and Sisters! We're starting off this show with a blast from my past...The Rocky Fellers - Killer Joe on Scepter Records 1963...this was on the turntable in my household always when my older sister, Janet would have her friends over for "sock hops"! Yeowza….bullet bras and everything!Set 1 - Come backs & MarblesChuck Wiley formerly of The Rock-its with a solo blast from 1965..."Come Back Baby" on Music Center Records / a killer 45 rpmFoghat follows with "Sara Lee" offa their 1st offering from 1972 on Bearsville Records....basically Foghat is Savoy Brown minus Kim Simmonds and adding Rod Price from Black Cat Bones to sit in the big chair.....Moby Grape kills it with "Going Nowhere" off of their first LP sans founder Skip Spence / "Grape '69"....Spence tried to part Don Stephenson's & Jerry Miller's hair with an axe so they thought it would be better to "go on without you" like the lyrics to "8:05".John McLaughlin segues nicely via Buddy Miles bass drum foot with "Marbles" a terrific cut off of "Devotion" from Douglas Records 1970.Los Miros [The Blackbirds] provide all the bed music for this episode ….'Sonada Amazona" which I think translates as "The song of the Amazon"....they're from Peru and all their records came out either in Peru or Colombia....tough to find.Set 2: Hobby Horses and Go Go'sBlossom Toes start off the 2nd set with a cover of Richie Havens' great "Just above my hobby horses head"...I'm not sure what Havens was musing about but The Toes covered it on the b-side of "Peace Loving Man" / Marmalade Records 1969.Richie follows with "Run Shaker Life" off of "Something Else Again"....and again I don't really know what he's talking about. I interviewed RH and found him to be a genuine nice guy....The Onion Radio News - A broke dad makes his son a playstation in the garage...Tracy Bonham - Mother mother...her first LP / CD "The Burdens of Being Upright"....wow!JJ Cale - It's a go go place / Liberty 1965 / 45 rpm. This record sits proudly in my 6000 + 45 collection....I think labelmate Henry Vestine of Canned Heat takes the lead guitar chores...Bed: Los Miros….see aboveSet 3 - Modern Lovers and Mr. BlueJonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers - She cracked / House of Hits 1976. Demos recorded in 1972 and slapped together by John Cale for a killer record.Talking Heads - Don't worry about the government / Sire 1977 / LP - "77". Do this and you'll be in more trouble than that Wikileaks cat!Another Onion Radio News....this time its the Weekly News....Prince Charles seizes the government....what a friggin wimp this guy is.Clear Lilght - Mr Blue / Elektra 1967 / Self titled LP.Tim Buckley - Once I Was / Elektra 1967 / "Goodby and Hello"I saw The Light open up for Tim at the Café A-Go-Go when both these records came out.....Great show.....Lee Underwood played with Buckley and put me in an altered state...and speaking of AS's....The singer in Clear Light was actor Cliff DeYoung who did his best "I'm from LA and I'm tripping ala Jim Morrison on stage"....no real complaints because we weren't on stage but were dosed ourselves......as an aside: one of the 2 drummers they performed with was Dallas Taylor...he's the guy staring out the window on the 1st CSN LP....L8ter G8ter's.....
In this episode we discuss the pun-tastic Dr. Giggles. Directed by Manny Coto, written by Manny Coto and Graeme Whifler, and starring Larry Drake, Cliff DeYoung, Holly Marie Combs, Glenn Quinn, and Doug E. Doug. Enjoy!
This week, Odo FINALLY turns into something again and we spend way too much time trying to figure out the logistics of Odo's Goo Body Thing. Meanwhile, Grand Nagus Vince's reign of terror continues and we all learn what it is to be hu-man. Cliff DeYoung guest stars.
Get ready to scream with delight as lyricist and Rocky Horror Picture Show sequel star Cliff DeYoung guest stars on the latest episode of STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE! Yes, marvel to the man behind such songs as "Come Sail Away", "Babe", "Mr. Roboto, and...wait what? That was DENNIS DeYoung?!? Okay, whatever. This time out Paul Spataro, Andrew Leyland, Shawn Engel, and special guest Dr. Bill Robinson discuss and disect the episode VORTEX, where a mysterious alien who might have links to Odo's origins visits the station and promptly kills another alien who is making a shady deal with Quark. It's another character developing episode focusing in on our favorite space station constable, and one that seeds the idea of a whole race of shapeshifters, something very important to the DS9 story. Plus, there's humiliating discussion of one of the host's love of awful 80's bubblegum pop, and the hopes of those singers ending up in Playboy. So what are you waiting for?!?
